In my first playthrough I shot Kenny and went with Jane, because I was just pissed of the way he had been acting over the last episodes. I only saw him as a total maniac who just strikes on people, even though they absolutely didn't have anything to do with his loss. Besides, him killing Jane was just the point when I said “ok, there is absolutely no hope for you anymore.“ Also, I really liked Jane and her role as Clem's big sis. But after reading some opinions of others I started to overthink my decision.
On the one hand I think that all of Jane's decisions like coming back to the group where based on protecting Clementine and teach her how to survive. Maybe even replacing her little sister, because she saw something in her. And she was right about Kenny and, again, only did it to protect them.
But on the other hand... It's true that Jane did a huge mistake by letting AJ alone in a snow storm, no question, also Kenny freaking out and trying to kill her was all her fault. She knew he was unstable and would snap at people, even attack them. But still, she put the life of a baby and maybe even Clem in danger, just to prove her point instead of trying to handle Kenny peaceful for the sake of everyone. Seeing how she just killed herself in ANF, leaving Clementine and AJ all by themselves just insured me that my first decision wasn't “the right one“ (though, I don't think that there is a right decision anyway, but I just noticed that I tend more to the ending where you don't kill Kenny).
Besides this, he went through alot, lost his family, his new love, the baby he took care of, because he has the heart of a father (atleast he thought he died). So after thinking about what he's been through and what he and Clem mean to each other, I felt really bad for shooting him. Like Jane, he only wanted to protect them too.
In the end I was pretty thorn and wanted to leave both of them, but I didn't want Clem and AJ ending up all by themselves either.
Before ANF came out, I thought about which ending of S2 would be the best for Clem and AJ and I decided that they were better off in Wellington. Like that they didn't have to stay with anyone of these two and have a good place to grow up and some peace for the next couple of weeks/months/years.
So yeah, I don't think there is a clear, right decision, but for me the best one is the Wellington ending.
I agree with your post, but I could not stand for Kenny’s juvenile behaviour to continue throughout Season Two just because one did not take his side every time there was an opportunity. I am not entirely sure what drove me to Jane’s personality, but there was something that caught my eye. I personally believe that Season Two would have been better without Kenny because to this day, I still do not like him. Either way, Telltale certainly ruined both of their fates in ‘A New Frontier’, so I can understand why people believe that going alone is the most ‘reasonable’ ending.

As a die-hard Kenny fan, I never felt this was a legitimate debate.....Jane is simply not in his league!
But for those who disagree...didn’t the release of Season 3 Episode 1 make you finally see the light? Jane proved the selfish coward who (once again) abandoned Clem, while Kenny remained steadfast and loyal to the death....what more need be said?
