The Diablo series is a personal favorite of mine. I played the second game all the time when I was a kid, alongside my dad. We'd both make characters, and I'd always try to beat the game before he did. Never managed it, though.
Left 4 Dead is one of my all time favorites. I've met some great people playing that game, and years later we're still dredging it up and playing it, alongside other coop games.
The KOTOR games. In my opinion these are the two best Star Wars games ever made. I recently got the Restored Content mod for KOTOR2 and I was blown away. The MMO makes me cry, though. Not the good crying. I can't stand it.
And finally, Fallout. I've only ever played 3 and New Vegas (With New Vegas being one of my all time most played games) but I can't get enough of them no matter how many times I play them. NCR Forever, man. Down with the Legion.
Thanks. I'll have to play more of it and gain a little more knowledge on it though because I keep hearing that it doesn't get really good until the second one.
Personally, I am a huge fan of philosophical/psychological story-driven games. The top four series that come to me first would be: the Bioshocks, both of the Amnesia games, the Dead Space series (for the story), and the Wolf Among Us.
Then you have the others that are just flat-out AWESOME like the Borderlands, Metro 2033 and good 'ol League of Legends:D
You should try Spec Ops: The Line. It's a brutal deconstruction of shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield. Emotionally distressing, but definitely worth a look.

Who did you romance?
Ashley. But I may reconsider because they have little to no chemistry IMO.
