Understanding Bonnie/Arvo/Mike
Just trying to understand the characters and the betrayal in episode 5. Though it is obvious that Clem only met them a few days before and their nature was unknown..
**Arvo- **Obviously he wants to get away from Kenny/the group and may have resentments against Clem. Completely unreliable character.
Mike- He had no attachments with anyone before getting caught by Carver. He could not stand up to Kenny and escape seemed like the easier option. It makes sense to take Arvo along since he knows the area. He didn't want to take Aj along since he was a problem and he knew Clem was more supportive of Kenny. Was surprised he didn't share his plans with Jane but probably this stems from having limited supplies and not trusing Jane's hermit personality. Why did he take Bonnie along? Female companianship maybe... but they were on their own in episode 4 and had something in common...I don't think Mike had any problems about taking all the supplies since he looked out after #1 when the group was no longer functioning.
Bonnie- obviously her breaking point came when Luke died. Despite everything she was always doing the wrong things- infidelity, drugs, staying with Carver etc. She was not that attached to Clem and AJ as she claimed to be and has reached a new low by taking all the food supplies due to looking out for #1 and her emotional breakdown.
Comments
Arvo - Get away from Kenny, resentment to Clem for shooting his Sister through the head despite the fact she had already turned.
Mike - Get Arvo away from Kenny/Get away from Kenny himself. Mike was very sympathetic towards Arvo and even says while in the house "ugh I can't take this shit anymore." Obviously enough was enough and he knew the group was volatile with Kenny in it.
Bonnie - In my experience she was resentful towards Clem for trying to let Luke get out of the ice himself as opposed to running over there. I felt this was pretty messed up considering Clem had indirectly saved her life by smashing a hole in the ice to get Luke out, allowing Bonnie to climb out as well. I believe Bonnie also thought Kenny was unstable and needed to get away.
Despite their reasons, taking literally all of the group supplies leaving Clem, Jane, Kenny and a freaking newborn with nothing is abhorrent and they deserve whatever fate came to them, especially Bonnie. She never learnt from her mistakes.
