Downloading then playing episodes as they are released

TWD season 2 was the first time I ever tried this method of purchase and play.

I don't think I'll be doing it that way again because in the months between each episode, I forgot most of the characters names and where the plot had got to. I did try re-starting the season to refresh my memory each time, but that became tedious too. Net result was that I became disengaged from the whole thing and did not really care what happened.

From now on, I'll either wait until I see a complete season come out on disc or if I buy on-line again, I will try to collect the whole season before playing any episodes.

Did anyone else come to the same conclusion as I have?

  • Yes and no. I don't think I can wait for the whole season to come out, so I will stick to the episodic gaming. But playing them all together does make the experience more enjoyable.

  • I actually prefer episodic gaming for a game like this, but the wait for each episode in s2 was a bit absurd.

  • For TWD I've played them as they released, then I did a full playthrough once all of them were out. With season 1 I bought each episode individually. With season two I purchased the season pass as soon as I finished episode one.

For TWAU I played the first episode (think it was free on XBLA for a couple weeks or something) then when the season was finished I bought the whole season.

I like both ways. I've got a good memory. I can drop a book on accident and not read it for months and pick up right where I left off and not be confused, so it works for me.

I know exactly where you are coming from...

I played S1 in one go (I came to TWD late) and it was awsome a lot kore seamless while keeping it episodic still.. I managed to play S2 up to E2 so had to wait for the rest and know exactly what your saying..

Honestly. ? If it wasn't for these damned forums and the need to discuss every episode I would rather wait for the full series, but I dont think im strong enough :[

I feel you on this one. I haven't been on "these" forums between episodes, but yeah, I will steer clear of any forum at all until the season is complete, or at least my interaction will be very limited.

  • I play each episode when it comes out, the fun part of waiting is all the cool theories and predictions people make.

  • I'm a masochist on this. I love and detest the wait.

  • Like you I played the first season after all episodes were released. I bought the season pass for season two and thought I would go insane waiting for the release of the next episode. I stopped playing season 2 after ep3. I waited until ep 4 and 5 were released before resuming. I started with ep1 of season two and played straight through to the end of ep5. It made a hell of a difference to me. Playing the single episodes I would have rated season two a 7 at best. Playing it straight through I will now rate it a 9. Season two was so much more enjoyable that way. When season 3 is released I will not play the game until all episodes are released.
