Breaking Bad: Did Walt really care about Jesse? ( Possible spoilers inside).
DISCLAIMER: If you have not watched the entire series, then do not read any further.
As this may spoil it for you.
I've tried to give as much warning as to possible spoilers inside.
If you ignore it, that's on you.
So please don't ask me to edit my thread in some way.
Now on to business.
Did Walt really care about Jesse?
I think he did.
While he obviously did use Jesse on many occasions, I think deep down, Walt did care.
Examples: While Jesse was hooked up with that train-wreck Jane, and was abusing heroin, Walt refused to give him his share of the money, refusing to indirectly contribute to Jesse's usage.
When Jesse was in skidrow, even at the risk of his own safety; Walt went in and got Jesse out.
When Jesse returned from rehab, Walt assured Jesse that Jane's death, was not Jesse's fault.
When Jesse was got high on cocaine and went to shoot it out with Gus' thugs, Walt speak to the scene and gunned them down, saving Jesse's life; even though it was a potentially fatal decision.
And when it came to dealing with Gus, Walt not only pleaded/bargained for his own life, but also Jesse's.
When Jesse was out of control in Season 5, Walt tried everything possible to avoid having put a hit out on him, even though his wife wanted him to.
And when Walt did, he specified that it be quick and painless.
Only when Jesse betrayed Walt, which resulted in Hank's death, did Walt turn against Jesse.
However at the end, when Walt saw what Jack and his gang had done to Jesse; treating him worse than an animal, Walt leaped on top of Jesse, shielding him from the gunfire from the machine gun in the trunk of Walt's car.
So yes, after everything is said and done, I think Walt did care about Jesse.
In many respects, I think Walt thought of Jesse as the son he never had.
How about you?
Comments
I think Jesse is a pussy to be honest with you, and he always made things 10x worse.
Walt would've lived a reasonably happy life with Skylar with what time he got left if it wasnt for that shitbird.
