Some Questions about Direct2Drive

edited May 2009 in General Chat
I was thinking about buying The Sims 3 for my Mac over Direct2Drive, but I have some qualms about using the service. If any of you have used it, I would like to know:

1. Do games seem to run at about the same performance without a disc?

2. If they don't, is it that noticeable? I was going to be using it on a MacBook Pro, which, from what I've heard, can run the game quite easily. It's just easier for me to go portable without lugging around any cases or discs. Sam & Max seemed to work fine on my old computer without a disc, but let's face it--you don't need a powerful machine to run it.

Minimum Specs:
  • Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
  • Intel Core Duo Processor
  • 2 GB RAM
  • ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100

My Specs:
  • Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard
  • 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 256 MB nVidia GeForce 9400M and 512 MB nVidia GeForce 9600M GT

I have never used Direct2Drive, but trust me on this, your hard drive is a LOT faster than your DVD Drive.
