    2. TWD S1
    3. TWAU
    1. Walking Dead S1

    5. Sam and Max S2
    6. Walking Dead S2
    7. Jurassic Park

I'm not sure that Jurassic Park is even deserving of third place in your list, but if those are the only Telltale Games you've played, definitely pick up a season of Sam and Max. Season three has an emphasis on story, if that's what you're looking for.

  • The first three Seasons of Sam and Max were made back during Telltale's older days, but they are still fantastic games that hold up well. Sam and Max is based off of an old, niche comedy comic book series. The main characters are the Freelance Police, consisting of Sam (the dog in the suit) and Max (the lagomorph; aka the rabbit-looking animal). Basically, you take on these extremely weird and surreal police cases both in New York and around the world, and you encounter equally bizarre villains such as the Devil, Abe Lincoln, Santa, Emo Eurotrash Zombies and Vampires, etc.

The games were made back when Telltale focused on Adventure games with puzzles instead of choice/consequence based interactive stories, and the puzzles themselves have a rather unique sense of humor. You might find the style of puzzles weird at first, but you quickly get used to it.

I heavily recommend Season 3 as a starting place should you check the series out. Seasons 1 and 2 were made during Telltale's early days, but Season 3 was made when Telltale had more experience under their belt, so Season 3 has better production qualities and also has a style of puzzles that is more accessible and friendly to newer players. Unlike Walking Dead and other newer Telltale series, you do not need to play the previous Seasons before playing a newer Season. You can easily start at Season 2 or Season 3 and all you will miss are small references to previous episodes.

  • Some of my favorite series include:

    • Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse (aka Season 3)

      • Out of all of Telltale's games, I think this Season of Sam and Max has the most natural blend of puzzles and story
      • Despite being a comedy first, the story gets surprisingly touching at times as well.

    • The Wolf Among Us

      • I love the heavily engrossing atmosphere and story telling.
      • The art style is some of Telltale's best work as well.

    • Poker Night 1/2

      • Despite being a simple Poker game, I like the direction Telltale took with making the game feel like a night out with your friends.
      • The character selection for both games have characters from franchises I always wanted to see Telltale take on. Seeing the Heavy from Team Fortress 2 in Poker Night 1 was pretty exciting, and I was also ecstatic to see Brock and GLaDOS in Poker Night 2.

    • Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures (not sold anymore; franchise licence expired...)

      • I never heavily watched the short film series, but even as a somewhat new fan, I still liked the quirky humor this series had.
