The Iron Giant. It's a animated movie that touches on dark topics like death and cold-war paranoia. Despite it's strong anti-war/gun messa… morege, it's very morally gray with no clear right and wrong. Plus it was sad as fuck. I went to see it at age 7 and I was a wreck afterward and the Cold War imagery flew right over my head.
Maybe it's because I grew up on Nightmare Before Christmas, and because I was well into my teens when it came out, (and was kind of gothy), … morebut Corpse Bride was more endearing than anything else for me. It was a really cute love story with gothic aethestics, at least for me.
I haven't had a change to see 9 though.
Honestly, I think it's somewhat harmful just how shielded children are these days from negative emotions. Kids' movies in the 80's were incr… moreedibly well made and dealt with the whole range of emotions.
Best Dark Kids' Movie is definately, hands down, the Secret of NIMH

So this gy… morepsy girl whom I just met, tried to arrest, and whose people I've been persecuting for decades got me all hot and bothered but won't let me rape her. Please make her submit to me or burn in hell for all of eternity. kthanx. In the meantime, I'm just gonna burn down random houses in Paris and the people inside until I find her."
This was a G-rated Disney movie.
I saw a part of this movie not long ago, and I have to admit that I wanted to cry... And I'm 22... I don't even know what woulda happen to my soul if I saw this as a child x) terrible and sick

One of my favorite movies. Everything you just described about it is why I love it so much.
Despite invading my dreams in the worst kind of way, I will admit that it was a great movie both visually and plot-wise.
It's definitely worth the watch. And the trailer song is pretty beast.
9 trailer
Have you seen Pinocchio by Walt Disney? It's incredibly dark and disturbing and way more fucked up compared to Secret of Nimh.
Pinocchio by Walt Disney, just...what hell was Disney thinking? It's not a bad movie, it's just disturbing and very dark in a few areas.
Easily watership down.

Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory anyone?
Man takes kids into a factory and murders them one by one....
I know it was originally a book but the films bring it to reality
Maybe. I was 7 when I watched it in the cinema.
I wish Disney had enough balls to make a movie like this again.
They're too afraid to offend a group of people.

Ha I saw this on a plane, it was full of little kids though I have to admit I really enjoyed it to be honest. Kids films are often afraid to go there
