I suspect that Rose and Snow are Rapunzel's twins who were stolen by Totenkinder, who had cursed their birth (possible reason for them having to kill each other) after Rapunzel slept with some incredibly magical and important prince. Totenkinder probably had plans of her own for the prince but Rapunzel's meddling ruined them. We know from Beauty and Beast that a newborn can inherit magic by taking away from the parents.
One detail that supports it's probably her, is the way Snow and Rose's creation mother rhymes when she casts a spell to turn herself into a bird and fly away to meet the king is the same "buggy" way of bad verse when Totenkinder casts the spell to bring Baba Yaga to her at the Woodlands' roof. It's the first and only time we see both characters casting a spell. All other times we see Totenkinder casting a spell is using trigger words, probably to avoid exposing that flaw in her technique (which she doesn't bother to hide from somebody who she's about to kill or when nobody is watching).
About the sister she sent Snow to, I'm practically completely in the dark (I have a little suspicion that it could have been Hadeon the Destroyer), but what really matters in my search for answers is that one detail suggests that again Totenkinder (if stealing Rapunzel's twins was really her doing) was involved at least in the final act of that story too. Because the frail old woman who offers help in the labor of Rapunzel's twins uses a poisoned apple on her to steal them, just like the old woman offers a poisoned apple to Snow while she's hungry, held captive at the 7 rapists cottage. My theory is that, unlike we were lead to believe, it wasn't Snow's most recent step-mother's doing but Totenkinder's, as a way to free her from the dwarves and to have her stumble upon an unsuspecting Prince Charming who would certainly fall in love for her and break the poisoned apple's sleeping curse.
Lastly, Rapunzel can sense that her children are alive but due to yet another of Totenkinder's curses can't know it's Rose and Snow. Anyway, this is some of the parts I've succeed in working some theories out. Let me know if anyone knows any better or if have something to add.
I suspect it has to do with how Snow and Rose's mother had that evil sister who took Snow in as a child (If you read the Rose Red arc a whil… moree back) And why she was evil compared to their mother. I also feel as though there will be a dark secret revealed of their origins, like maybe their mother was not actually their mother, you know? I'm surprisingly very excited to read these next issues, since they've taken a turn from the heartbreak and suspense.
I still hope it's a misleading cover (like the one for Super Team where a grieving Snow is holding a lifeless Bigby, in truth he's asleep thnx to Mr North) but the whole tug-of-war for Bigby's power will probably make him establish his own side in the war between Snow and Rose. I like to imagine Bigby arriving at the fight with an army of wolves and maybe even monsters! Now THAT would be cool.
The reason Snow didn't say anything is that she already knows things are likely to be one-sided, and it is better to add everyone to her hit-list (Brandish, Frau, Rose Red). The family fate is killing eachother, which proves some of the theories I thought of. Spratt being Snow's aunt/stepmother and Snow & Rose's mom being dead to tie in with it. Snow & Rose's family history extends to Camelot.
Hey guys, c'mon.... Rose's speech when she was holding the ring was so weird with a very sexual tension. That said, I don't believe that the cover #149 is actually going to be a scene in the comics, the covers usually are sort of a different vision of the main story. I think it just represents what Rose is feeling right now about Bigby.
Yeah, I was not sure WHO she was kissing in the woods, but it didn't look like Bigby in my opinion. It DID concern me when she said those th… moreings about understanding why her sister loved him so much, and how wolfy he was. A little, erm, much maybe? AND I LOVED when she was about to say cunt (If you are offended by me saying that word, I can blurb it out :L) and Morgan interupted her XD It was awesome!

I was literally thinking the same exact thing. I read the Rapunzel story arc of Fairest, and from the VERY beginning, I swore that her twin daughters MUST be Snow and Rose. I believe their stories are from the same Homelands (Since Frau is in 1001 Nights of Snowfall, and Snow and Rose revive her.) So it's plausible that the twins who were taken away from Rapunzel were in fact Snow and Rose. I honestly don't see any other way to put it. It's far too coincidental, you know? And even if Willingham didn't intend for this to happen in the beginning, there have been plenty of times were he changed things last minute in the past. I'm super excited for these next issues, as I hope that I was right about it all along. It would be both satisfying and a great twist in general, and those who have not made that connection or don't read Fairest are going to have their minds blown.
Frau might even KNOW that the girls are technically her grandchildren (Since she adopted Rapunzel) and that's another reason why her intentions have always been on Snow and Rose's side. To be honest, I don't see how the girls are on opposing sides, they just have opposing opinions on how to go about things. They both want to stop Bigby, but in different ways.Though, this might be the reason they end up killing one or the other. Rose thinks she has more authority than she really has, and I can see her messing up because she's being a little overconfident of herself. I feel bad for Snow; She stuck in this position that she hadn't wanted to be in in the first place. Her number one priority is her cubs, but it's hard to take care of them and be in Fabletown dealing with Rose's shit at the same time. I assume Therese is watching over the remaining cublings for the time being. I know Bigby was told by Spratt (Before her epic death) to kill them, but I guess he resisted and gained enough intelligence to resist those orders. He may still be able to carry out less complicated orders, though, or anything that doesn't involve harming his family. I really, really want him to get better, and I think returning the ring to him will fix that. Hopefully Rose get's her head out of her ass and figures out how things should really go. I love her, but right now she's not doing as good of a job as she could be doing. And I think Snow is getting a little in over her head, ordering Cindy to assassinate Frau. Like, come on, we want to AVOID the death of either sister (Even if it IS inevitable.) and I think that would be something that would really piss Rose off. Ah, well. That's enough ranting for one post. Glad I'm not the ONLY one who assumed Rapunzel is their real mother.

Wow, I hadn't actually thought of it that way! Snow and Rose being Rapunzel's twins actually does sound credible (And it ties off the unanswered questions from Rapuzel's arc from fairest quite nicely such as where are Rapunzel's children?).
At first, I was surprised at the idea, but maybe I shouldn't have been, since Jack turned out to be son of Charming.

Rose was not really a character that I liked to begin with, and this arc had me further disliking her. Probably when she took Bigby's shard ring from Spratt (and put it on for herself) felt like a new low point for her (she really did it without any hesitation at all).
I think Rose has a long way to go for her to reach the "Tolerable" territory in my eyes (as of now, she's been borderlining between annoyance, and dislike for me)
