About the Game

edited December 2014 in Game Of Thrones

Just like the other Telltale games, I haven't had much interest in TWD, TWAU or borderlands outside Telltale, but I've managed to understand and enjoy them despite not knowing everything about their said universes. Is Got the same? I've heard some say you need to know while others say it's not necessary - so understandable I'm uncertain.

  • It's very hard to understand what's going on if you have not read the books or seen the tv show. The game also spoils these right from the get go. Playing this game after seeing the show or reading the books help you as a player much more with understanding who the baltons is, Tyrion, Cercei Lady Margaery and many others.

In short, you will be very confused of all the characters and whats actually happening if you have not seen or read anything GOT before.

  • That's a shame. I was hoping I could just pick up and play this like other Telltale's games, but I guess I'll give it a miss then.

    Thanks for your reply though.

  • I don't think you do need to read the books or watch the show really.

It gives you a better understanding of the characters, locations and how the families and loyalties work but i feel for the most part they explain the key things you need to know.

The only thing that i felt might be confusing for someone who's not in the fandom would be the concept of king's landing being the government capital ran by the king and the North being a territory under the king controlled by the warden of the north. And at the beginning of the game the warden is Robb Stark.

Everything else gets explained through the narrative; which for the most part is separate from the books and shows story.

  • If all I have to learn is the basic foundations of how the GoT universe works, then that's okay with me. A quick check online would do it. Thanks.

  • Why don't you just watch the show? It's fucking amazing, and it's not like it's hard to find a website that shows it for free if you live outside the US like me, or don't have HBO.
