Should I get this game?
I like a lot of telltales previous games like TWD, Wolf among us and borderlands. But I'm not sure about Game of Thrones. I don't follow it. But then again I didn't follow TWD or Wolf among us either, and I liked it thanks to Youtube.
Is it worth a purchase despite not knowing anything about the series?

You might not get much of it, or know what's going on at times. Plus it has spoilers for the show if you ever want to get into that. So it's at your own risk, keep in mind I don't know much about the GoT universe yet I loved the first episode, although it might be different between people.
The game's for hardcore fans not like in Wolf or TWD. You've gotta know your shit before playing. But I LOVED it so I'd say hell yes!
Personally I can recommend the game. I enjoyed it very much (although nothing beats TWD S1 ending). However for people not interested in GOT, I'm not sure if I can recommend the game. Best way for you is probably to have a look first at the TV show to get the feeling if the settings and the topic catches your interest. It is compared to TWD and TWAU less situational choices and bit more politics driven (hard to explain). If you generally are looking for dilemma decisions, than go for it. If you feel unsure, wait for a sale so it won't hit your wallet that hard.

Yeah, you really should. So far its really good and has potential to be TTG's next big series, but at the same time you will enjoy it more and understand more of it if you have watched the show.
I recommend binge watching the show before ep.2 rolls around then play ep.1 and enjoying the rest of the series with us
