Now this is something that I am excited for. I was theorizing that something like this was coming since the polarizing announcement of the Minecraft game (long story short - Minecraft will be the closet TellTale will come to doing an original IP since Minecraft has no virtually no theme or canon). I am 100% sure this will define TellTale's future as it will determine how multifaceted they can really be. I excited to hear more news in the future, and considering how full their plate is now, we probably won't here that news until 2016/2017.
That's pretty neat, making their own IP will FINALLY give them creative freedom to spark their own universe.
I'm actually quite excited to hear this news, but I still think Telltale should calm down with the amount of games they make, two ongoing projects last year (TWD 2 & TWAU) didn't really help all to much with the overall quality of the episodes, and I get the fear GoT and Borderlands will have that happen soon enough too, which is a shame, Zer0 Sum was probably my favourite Telltale episode of 2014, only thing rivalling it really is A House Divided and No Going Back.
This is pretty much true, as it still uses the Telltale Tool. Blind Sniper is correct though that is a newer engine in the sense that it's a newer iteration of the Telltale Tool. Telltale is unlikely to ever change their engine as they have used their in-house engine since their first project with changes for each iteration (like, for example, how SCUMM (which is the scripting engine, and SPUTM, which is the name of the engine itself) was changed to support new hardware features with each iteration from the Commodore 64 version of Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken to The Curse of Monkey Island, and was even further expanded by Humongous Entertainment until 2003).
The Telltale Tool is robust, so there really is no reason to change it completely for something new. There's definitely a lot more room for improvement, though it's unlikely they'll ever go too far since their development philosophy is to have their games on as many platforms as possible, and that includes lower end hardware like iOS and lower end PCs and Macs. Although, that said, they definitely could stand to have some extra optional graphic features for higher end hardware.
I think it's a "enhanced edition", not a new engine.
They added some little things like the asynch loading that reduces stuttering (and worsened other like the mouse movement or some audio glitches)
Wait, who is that? There are all these commercials of him in Korea trying to sell English classes (they're dubbed, so I'm guessing it's just footage taken from whatever show that is...)
I get the fear GoT and Borderlands will have that happen soon enough too, which is a shame
I hope not. Both pilot episodes were amazing and it would suck if one started to compromise the other. Considering that they have completely separate teams (or so I've heard) though hopefully it won't happen.

Oh, I should have phrased it better - but yes, I meant a notably new iteration/update of the previous engine and not an entirely new engine from the ground up.

What is something you would like to see a videogame story attempt that hasn't been done yet?
It is my dream that one day I will play a game where I really feel as though I am interacting with the story at a very fine level, working with the authors of the game to shape the narrative. I want a game where my actions have (or appear to have) meaningful consequences. For example, in Fable, you took actions that made you either "more good" or "more evil," but being "more good" or "more evil" didn't actually affect the story in any meaningful way. Amongst people at our office, there is sometimes a debate about linear vs. non-linear stories and it isn't that I think linear stories aren't worth doing in a game; I just think that we (game developers as a whole) haven't really explored non-linear stories to a satisfying extent.

I said this in another thread, but as Telltale's 10th anniversary comes up and they talk about their new direction, I found this old Telltal… moree blog post from March 2008 which was interesting:

That explains the ad... It's almost like he's figuring out why people would want to take English classes. I thought the new Sherlock Holmes was Robert Downey Jr. though... Still I'd prefer anybody over Robert Downey Jr. I don't have a problem with him, I just don't him that seriously (Tropical Thunder, Natural Born Killers, Iron Man - just not the guy I think 'super smart super cunning')
Since Benedict played a popular role in a tv show rather than a movie, I think it's safe to say that he would be considered the modern Sherlock. Plus, a lot of people refer to him as Sherlock Holmes more than Downey, and that the tv show is still airing episodes.

Interesting to know that Telltale Games is making a Original IP I hope it's a comedy with lots of choices
I also look forward to those unannounced partnerships

Bumping this because I just noticed -
Curious. Seems like Telltale has the next couple years of the company already planned out for the most part.

Oh I've been waiting for that.

I believe its Benedict Cumberbatch
You're suggesting a game without a predefined story arc, that bends itself being developed following the inclination of most of the players?
mmmm.... interesting.
An original IP? =D I hope it's something to do with horror! I reaaaally love horror!
So wait, there's MORE unannounced partnerships? o.o whoa.
Benedict has also been the modern Sherlock Holmes for about four years now - in case you didn't know that.

Guys.
Guys.
I found the next "Unannounced Partnership"
Pls no.
Since I eat Hot Cheetos regularly, this is a decision Telltale would make that I would back 100%
I'd play a game starring Chester Cheetah.
Unless TellTale is doing another "Poker Night" game, I doubt we'll see Chester Cheetah in a TellTale game.
Damn it, I was hoping for a Doritos game, that would have been so much better.
cancel mincecraft and spend more time on cheetos and we are all good
Doritos, easy choice.
imagine mlg a telltale games series
save the mountain dew or save the doritos you can only get one
Mash Q to drop the base
A: "Oh baby, a triple!"
B: "WUMBO COMBO!!!"
X: [Blow Airhorn]
Y: [...]
Doritos, easy choice.
then we get secret option c which is to use your mlg powers to save both by creating the dewitos combo
X everytime
Y: [360 Noscope 420 Blaze it]
Clearly we need MineCheetos: A Cheesy Game Series
If this isn't a joke....
ONLY if Telltale brings merchandise back to its store! That would be an awesome combo pack!
Its a joke.
Yeah I realized that like 5 minutes after posting it.
