best films no-ones heard of
I want to know what hidden gems you guys have seen. what are your favorite underated/unknown/cult movies from around the world?
Personaly I like peter jacksons originals Meet the feebles(muppets for grownups), bad taste (ridiculous alien invasion)and braindead/dead alive (had different named in different countries- very funny zombie movie) I also like existenz and videodrome both by david cronenberg Both very strange dystopian future type movies with great props.

If you are interested in really depressing, dark films centered on the lowest cesspools of filth. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is amazing.
If you want a really thought-provoking film. A mind fuck, if you will. I'd recommend Pi.
Lastly, I'd recommend Easy Rider if you want a film with a REALLY shocking ending. Kind of started the whole "shock-twist end" that a lot films imitate.

Journey from the fall looks great! Vietnam produces some amazing films I will have to check it out some time at the mo ive been watching too much pixar and kiddie krap a bit of real emotion would be a nice change.

I'd suggest to you a little film (that later had an American shot-to-shot remake) called Funny Games. Really repulsive, but extremely interesting and was literally made to mess with and alienate the audience. I'd even call it mad genius.
About two deranged yet handsome killers that invade the home of a prestigious family and torment the family with "games." Seeing if they can last 'till sunrise. I won't spoil anything major, but it is constantly breaking the fourth wall and creates a very unnerving atmosphere through only it's script.
This is a great documentary, not just for Metallica fans, but for anyone. What it shows is a band on the brink of breaking up, James battling with his inner demons, and a band at it's low point after their bassist for the past 15 years leaves. It follows the 2 year journey of the band, through tense therapy sessions and inner turmoil, struggling to make a new album and deciding if they should even continue as a band.
I just looked that up and realised ive seen the remake it was dark the main character reminded me of the main guy in if. The bit where the racing is on tv is sooo anoying your rooting for it to be turned of.
I didn't know it was a remake the original looks even better.

He only weirdly vaguely reminded me of the guy from if I think its just the detached yet passionate attitude. I dont know what im trying to say its kinda hard to explain
There's a lot but there was this Indy film that came out last year that was called "A Long Way Down." Amazing movie, would totally recommend it since it doesn't seem to have had a lot of watchers.
Wow, that cover of "Journey from the Fall" totally looks like the poster of "Legends of the Fall" (don't watch it it's a totally crap movie). Either that or the other way around, I don't know which came first.
The Machinist - anorexic Christian Bale goes massively paranoid.
Strange Days - Hard to explain, but a guy who sells recorded memories finds a snuff film and his ex-girlfriend's friend is the victim (such a good movie)
One Hour Photo - It's gotten a bit more steam since Robin Wiliams died, but it's basically a story about loneliness sandwiched in a thriller.
Tokyo Gore Police - requires a very strange taste. Full of cheesy gore and perverted jokes.
Igby Goes Down - Early 2000's Catcher in the Rye
The Boxer - complex drama film set during The Troubles.
I can keep going on and on.....
Why do you have to be so harsh with your description of the first movie?
Watch it, you'll understand only if you see it.
There are scenes in that movie that are so sick, it's reported Michael Rooker (the lead) had to receive therapy during the production of the film. It's pretty fucked up.
The only film I can think of that I like that isn't well known is Felidae, it's probably the goriest animated movie I've ever seen, basically it's a murder mystery with cats which just makes it marginally better than...I don't know. I like cats. I like them a lot.

I just remembered another movie I saw, called The Crucible/Silenced. It is a movie based off of real events that happened at a school for deaf children in South Korea, they were abused by their teachers. It is very graphic and tear-jerking from what I can remember.

Yes. It's amazing, easily on my top ten psychological thrillers.
Although, he isn't exactly "crazy." I believe he has extreme anti-social disorder or something, he's quite interesting as a character though since he's also extremely intelligent.
I'd recommend it if you don't mind very slow burner films...
Oh, boy. It get's WAY worse than just killing a woman, believe me.
I won't ruin it, but there's a scene that involves rape... and, boy is it brutal.

I've met a few people who have seen Memento, but most have never heard of it. It's one of my favorite Nolan films that came out before he was big, and has the most unique narrative structure I've ever seen. Highly recommended for anyone who likes mind-bending, thought-provoking movies that deserve a second viewing.
He isn't though, and that's why it's so good. He is sort of a creeper, but most of the time you sympathize with how devastatingly lonely he is. In retrospect you worry how he managed to convey that emotion so well.
Tried to do another dramatic Robin Williams with "The FInal Cut." Disappointing. Not bad, just completely and thoroughly meh.
