Quotes About Love (And a Valentine's Day Rant)

Though this might be relevant since it's February 14th, post your favorite quote about love (or start making up your own) here :)

On a side note, I feel like Valentine's day is pretty useless. When you love someone, there shouldn't be a day dedicated to it.. I would have 365 of those to do that, and the fact that some people wait for that specific deadline to show someone they love them is kind of killing the point of doing it out of love, and more like doing it to "get a chore done".

My point is:

I don't feel like love should be treated as some kind of magical occurrence that is celebrated on one day of the year, it's all around us, and it's more than a costly jewelry or a damn heart-shaped card, it nourishes our existence, and it's free.

Anyway, I'll say mine:

"If I fall in love with you, no one will ever be able to explain it. And I think that's beautiful."

I'm with you on the whole Valentine's Day thing, it's a pretty stupid holiday just so businesses can make money frankly. But here is my quote:

Love is a four letter word

    And never spoken here

Love is a four letter word

    Here in this prison

    I suffer this no longer

I'll put an end to this I swear!

    This I swear!

    The sun will shine

    This I swear!

    This I swear!

    This I swear!

  • I think when you have someone you truly love then having a specific day to do something and show your love is completely understandable. I don't see it as a deadline, I see it as a day to celebrate what you have. True love doesn't require money spent on valentines day, it's just a day that emphasizes that love.

I see where you're going for, but I still don't like how a lot of people kind of see it ok to be sloppy on those things for the rest of the year because there is a specific day where the focus to those things is turned to.

My main problem with it is probably that it makes a lot of people feel like there must be something given to them on Valentine's Day in order for someone to "prove" their love, a lot of silly teenage girls think that way, and this day is kind of a financial hoax to most businesses if you think about it.

You make a good point, though I can't really say that I have any way to understand what the day would mean to a certain couple, as I have never experienced it in that light.

I think it's more of a day of heartache for those of us who aren't in a relationship more than anything <_<

  • Me neither, I never celebrated this day with someone, but I don't think it should matter a lot to a couple in love. Shouldn't be much different than any other day.

That's another reason I don't like it, but my heart aches every day, so it doesn't really matter to me :b
