What happens in Fables 149?
(Making this quite early but I don't care)
So what happens in the penultimate issue? I and anyone who reads this thread will want to know everything!!
We already know that there is more backstory on Lauda; but what else is there?
Do we see Snow or Bigby? If so then definitely tell us what happens on that front!!!

Not much happens actually XD
We see Lauda killing her last sister. Then she vows never to have children. Buuut then she falls in love and he wants kids, so she is like "okeey, just one". But surprise! They are twins, shit.
Then Rose is formulating a plan. She says Snow is stronger, so she will use Bigby to kill her. Making him look like good old Bigby again and then make him kill her when she is unsuspecting. Then she will go after everyone else. Afterwards she wants to tame Bigby and make him believe he wants her and take him as a lover (there goes the dreaded cover art).
Then we see a panel where Snow is in front of destroyed Wolf Manor calling for the kids and Bigby. Then one where Brandish kills Lancelot and one I forgot now...
I don't think the plan will work, I mean story telling wise. It would be boring if everything she plans works out. And what about the cubs? Will she kill them too?
So... It sounds like the issue is all over the place
Brandish kills Lancelot. Wolf Manor is destroyed. Rose makes Bigby look human again.
What about the Last Story???
So Brandish won the duel? Damn, guy is a cockroach.
I'm more concerned about Wolf Manor being destroyed when Snow gets there...
What the hell happened while she was gone???
maybe winter back home too haste :-/
You think Winter destroyed the Manor?
Well I have admit that given how the siblings of the family are meant to kill each other, maybe the Cubs started fighting and destroyed the Manor in their conflict...
Also, now that Rose has control over Bigby, maybe it takes either Connor or Blossom standing up to him (The Hero Bold) to break her control?
Basically it's the end of Lauda's story, Rose decides to use Bigby against Snow, Snow comes to see a destroyed house, Lancelot dies (he was so stupid...) and Grimble comes to some weird world with a wierd name. And we know the next (and last issue) will be a battlefield but we all predicted that.
Was the name of last volume confirmed? I hope it's not "Boys in the Band"???
The title of the last Volume has not been confirmed yet, it is still the placeholder title Boys In The Band
Im just KIDDING :-/
It is a possibility though :P
I've only skimmed through it (since I'm a bit busy now, will read it properly later), but other than resolving the trial by combat (which has already been dragging on for several issues) and finishing Lauda's story, nothing really was resolved.
If Willingham does one (or more) of the following, I'll be seriously pissed off at him:
Things that could happen, but I could care less about
Bigby has killed (or kills in #150) the cubs
Snow kills Bigby or Bigby kills Snow, or both of them die
Brandish is not killed in #150 (sheesh, he's like a cockroach on steroids, kill him already!)
Things that could happen, but I could care less about
Rose dies (she's become such a character that I despise [other than Brandish], that I wouldn't shed one tear if she gets killed. In fact, even if she dies, I don't want to see her end up with Boy Blue in afterlife.....She doesn't deserve Blue, considering what she is planning to do to Snow)
Everything you have said above is EXACTLY how I feel man!!!!!
Bigby should be restored and in Snow's arms right now, not bowing to the whims of her sex-craving sister :P
I agree with both of you. I wish Bigby killed Rose when he had the chance.
He is not the one fated to kill her...
Bigby doesn't kill family, I wouldn't be surprised if he slit his own neck instead of hurting Snow or the Cubs
True
The one thing that really annoyed the heck out of me, is the part in which The Cricket and Rose are talking, and Rose suggest that the, "Wicked Stepmother", is actually the sister of her and Snow's father, and the Cricket confirms. During the Rose Red story arc, it is strongly implied, if not out right stated, that the Wicked Stepmother was the sister of Snow and Rose's mother, Lauda. Lauda even states to her sister, "You owe me sister, I helped you net your king of the West". In this issue, Lauda meets her future husband and father of her daughters, after he has gotten lost in the forest, after, as the issue states, "dropping her sister off for marriage". It is also implied that his sister, The Wicked Stepmother, killed him. I seriously doubt Lauda would have sent Snow to her, if she had known her husband's sister, had killed her husband. One could say Lauda had no idea, but as we have clearly learned in the last couple of issues, she was powerful, cunning and smart. At the end of the day, we can chalk this up to be a continuity error, however, it really annoyed me.
I don't think it's really a continuity error. The Wicked Stepmother referred to in #149 is the sister of Lauda's husband (i.e. Snow and Rose's dad), and by this Lauda becomes sister-in-law to the "Wicked stepmother."
People, while not always, do sometimes refer to their brother-in-law or sister-in-law as "brother" or "sister", even though they aren't blood-related (this is especially if they have close relationship between them, as I've noticed in some families). It's just the way it's worded (in Rose Red arc) that's a bit confusing to grasp at first.
As for sending Snow off to the Stepmother, well it's not like Lauda was well connected in hearing the outside world news (just living off the wild), so it does not seem too far-fetched for her to not know whether Wicked Stepmother killed her husband (though even Cricket is unsure whether that was what actually happened, so who knows? Wicked Stepmother may not have killed Lauda's husband).
Awesome, thanks! I tweeted Bill and he just replied back, and confirmed the Wicked Step Mother, was the sister of their father.
and.....why snow have boys?
Cuz of Bigby?
I don't know what else to say :P
her blood line was cursed, she will only born daughters like her mother, and grandmother, then the daughters start to killing each other, but snow had three sons!
Because of Bigby! They have Cubs as opposed to Children; the fact that the Cubs are a litter of hybrids, that affected their genders
That is true
I was actually pretty sad to see Briar Rose ending up as a zombie and falling into eternal sleep. Sure, Hadeon (the destroyer, currently the car) got what she deserved (her final trip being driving till the end of universe, but there is no end to the universe so Hadeon ends up driving infinitely until the end of time), but it almost looked like seeing death for Briar and it was nowhere near "Happily ever after" as the TPB title promotes.
As I understand it, her curse will kill her anyways, so she puts herself to sleep so it is a painless death?
Well, of course it is a better ending than seeing Briar turn into an undead and going on rampage (and this ending solves the Hadeon problem too).
But I thought it would be more of a happier ending than this. This ending felt kinda like a downer (well, in my opinion it seemed like it).
Oh well, I guess the term "Happily ever after" can't be taken literally (as it's the case with Beauty and Beast, and Charming's last stories)
Maybe she will find love with Boy Blue? That would be a Happily Ever After for both of them :P
But what will her curse do to her? Why does she put herself to sleep?
I'm not sure that Briar's curse is actually permanent death though (since the curse can be broken if she is kissed by true love).
I think I remember from somewhere Briar curse puts her into a "deathly sleep" but I always thought that was temporary (until someone breaks the curse. If nobobdy can break the curse for centuries, then the temporary becomes centuries lol), and death was just a technical term put in since she can't be woken up in other ways (like Snow biting off the poison apple and Charming breaking the curse/spell in Fairy tales).
So I don't know. It kinda feels like Briar is in kinda limbo state (since to me, her curse does not mean definite, final death), and I'm kinda sad to see this.
If Briar did actually die, well I would not mind she finds love with Blue (definitely better than Blue and Rose Red. That combination is a recipe for disaster lol).
Poor Briar...
But it gives a tiny ray of hope for her to be saved!
Btw, how does she find out her curse will 'kill' her? Actually, what will her curse do to her?!
Not really, Hadeon (with now in-deathly sleep Zombie-Briar as her passenger) is travelling to the end of universe (which there is none, so that means Hadeon will go on and on travelling non-stop). And I'm not sure there was anything anybody can do, even in the Fables community (since King Cole sees Briar off, before she gets on Hadeon for her final ride).
So it's most likely not even the 13th floor witches could cure Briar of the undead infection (regardless whether Totenkinder survives the #150 or not), so chances seem grim for Briar to get back to normal.
I'm not sure whether her sleeping curse actually states it will actual kill her. It was probably in one of the Fairest volumes (I could be wrong though), where I think I remember the term "deathly sleep" , but I didn't think (when I read it at that time) it meant literal death (since true love's kiss breaks the whole thing so it's not permanent).
Interesting...
Lancelot deserved to die. What an idiot he should shredded Brandish to pieces when he had a chance, but no because of honor. When did honor suddenly play a part in this comic. honestly i think it's good that it's ending soon the story went downhill after issue 75.
