Name origin
The name 'Ortengryn' always struck me as odd, even though it does sound sort of 'Game-of-Thrones'y, The maester is from the Vale, so that makes sense given the 'y' instead of 'i' used in 'Arryn' and 'Hardyng'. Then I noticed how 'Morgryn' is spelt. It's a bit of a stretch, but I wonder whether, if Lord Morgryn is from the Vale too, there could be a link between the maester and the merchant lord. They even look quite similar, and given the maester is a main contender for the traitor on the Council, maybe he works for Lord Whitehill like Morgryn does/did.
Anyway, just spitballing.
