Recs and Reqs

edited April 2015 in General Chat

Have been having Tales from the Borderlands in my cart for a while. I purchased Game of Thrones, but my computer can't handle it - I heard Tales from the Borderlands was better; I keep hearing recs for Tales from the Borderland over Game of Thrones, and I'm thinking Tales might take less (since there isn't the HBO sponsorship) but I don't want to waste $25 in case the graphics requirements were the same. I could play The Walking Dead Season 2 relatively fine...

Edit: Basically, how does Tales from the Borderlands fit graphically between The Walking Dead S2 and Game of Thrones

  • I think the requirements are almost the same, BUT for some reason, my pc could handle TFTB better than GOT. I could play TWDS2 and TWAU relatively fine too. I don't really know why GOT is so laggy on my PC. :l

  • if you can't afford it, why you don't just take it?

  • Because I don't need to dick a small company out of the fruit of their labor - it's $25, if I need to I can wait, it's not like I'll be going without food or anything.

  • You'll probably be fine, its about the same as Walking Dead and Wolf to handle

If you can't run Game of Thrones, you probably won't be able to run Tales from the Borderlands either as both titles use the same updated version of Telltale's engine. Still, though, I find it weird you can run Walking Dead: Season 2 but not Game of Thrones as both titles aren't that far apart and use the relatively same engine (minus small updates to the engine for each Season). Tales uses the same artstyle as Walking Dead: Season 2, but it sounds like what you are describing might be a back-end problem as Game of Throne's art style isn't extremely complex to the point where the graphics alone should be slowing you down.

For what it's worth, I'm only a volunteer Moderator and not a Telltale Staff member so don't take my word for absolute certain.

EDIT: The FAQ sections on each game page have the system specs. I'll copy paste them here for your benefit.

(In a nutshell, the only difference I see is that Game of Thrones recommends you have 8 GB Space Free on your Hard Drive, whereas Tales and Walking Dead: Season 2 only recommend having 4 GB Space Free. Beyond that, I can't see any notable difference...)

EDIT: Actually, it seems that GoT requires a more recent Mac OS update than Tales does as well.
