Bye Emily!

edited August 2009 in General Chat
I hear a rumour you're leaving Telltale very soon. I'd jut like to thank you very much for all your contributions to discussion on these forums, and the assistance provided via email.

You'll definitely be missed (hopefully we'll still see you around here, posting, but in civilian capacity?).

And best of luck with wherever life is taking you now.

    It's true.

    And thanks. :)

You really know how to tug at our heart strings, Emily. I was surprised when I heard that Doug was leaving a few months ago, and now, you too. *sniff*

Telltale is rapidly expanding, but losing some of their dearest employees in the process. Hopefully, Jake sticks around for a while.

I wrote a bit more in the blog.

In the month I've been here, you've always been nice and helpful Emily. Good luck with your writing - I'll look out for your book.

I wrote in the blog too, but it is certainly sad to see you go. For me you are one of the original Telltale people (on the community side, at least), and now all who remains from that group is Jake, who - like mhaley - I hope stays.

    Good luck, Emily!

I'm a little shocked... Of all the TTG forum mods (I don't know if I should be calling you that as it seems that the forum is moderated by TTG's executives, such as yourself) you have always seemed the nicest. (Though it's possible that I simply think this way as you're a lady).

I really hope your writing career takes off. Would it be asking too much to ask that you plug your books (assuming you intend to write books, not plays, screen plays or poetry, or something else entirely) here on the TTG forums? I'd actually be curious to read them

Is it possible that, one day, perhaps you'll write the script for an episode for a TTG game?

I'm glad that you'll still be around in the forums. Good luck with the writing!

Its sad to see you go, but good luck with the writing career! Thanks for all the hard work you've put in over the last 3 or 4 years. The whole community appreciates it, you will be missed :o

Hmm, it's really too bad that one of Telltale's oldest faces is leaving; I'm only a new forum member so the impact isn't quite as hard on me as some here, but I wish you the best of luck.

Just out of curiosity what genre of writing are you going to pursue?

Good luck in all you do, Emily. I must admit I'm envious that you got the chance to work at such a company as Tell Tale. I've dreamed of working at Sierra myself as a music composer for adventure games like my idols such as Mark Seibert, Chris Brayman, Ken Allen, Michael Land, Clint Bajakian and so on. So awesome that you got the chance to do that on your way to your life-long dream. All the best!

well emily, goodbye. you helped me with stuff.
now when you finish that novel, tell us about it!
    so we can buy it!
  • edited July 2009
Good luck with your new path. :D

You've gotta stick around the forums, though. You're just as much a community member as you are a TTG employee, y'know. :p

I haven't been here for long, so I don't know much about you.
From what I've read you must be a wonderful person, though.
    You will be missed.

My best wishes to you and good luck!

I only joined recently so I don't really know you, but when I had a problem with something I was browsing the help forums and saw how helpful and friendly you'd been helping all the other members. I even found the answer to what I was looking for!

Well, you seem like a really nice person who won't be forgotten by the members, so goodbye and best of luck in the future, Emily! :)

Just out of curiosity what genre of writing are you going to pursue?

I have been working on a novel, so that's going to be one of my focuses. I'll also probably be doing some game journalism and other writing projects.

How you uh, how you comin' on that novel you're working on? Huh? Got a a big, uh, big stack of papers there? Got a, got a nice little story you're working on there? Your big novel you've been working on for 3 years? Huh? Got a, got a compelling protagonist? Yeah? Got an obstacle for him to overcome? Huh? Got a story brewing there? Working on that for quite some time, huh? Yeah, talking about that 3 years ago. Been working on that the whole time? Nice little narrative? Beginning, middle, and end? Some friends become enemies, some enemies become friends? At the end your main character is richer from the experience? Yeah? Yeah?

    :p Had to do it.

Aw, I can't believe you're leaving. We'll all miss you very much! As a fellow writer (well, I'm more like a wannabe writer), I wish you the best of luck. I believe I can safely say that we were all glad that you were on the Telltale team, and glad that you've done so much.
That said, thank you, Emily. :)

Thanks for everything. You're one of the best community liaisons I've ever met. Telltale has had by far the best PR-section of any publisher, thanks to you and Jake. It's a shame to lose you, but I wish you the best in your endeavour to the world of writing.

A friend of mine released his first book a month ago, and he hasn't regretted pursuing that dream for a second. I'm glad you took the leap instead of always thinking 'what if'. Good luck. :)

Best of luck in your new career Emily. Please do stick around the forums or at least post from time to time. I promise to pick up your book as soon as it is published so you have at least one guaranteed sale. I love nothing more than a good story.

Somehow I know we'll meet again
Not sure quite where, and I don't know just when
You're in my heart, so until then
    It's time for saying good-bye.

May the sightless eye watch over you, Emily. 8)

Emily blogs about writing. A good read, and that last bit may come in handy.

Let us know when the book's relased (we're not only gamers, you know ; )
Was going to finish my novel myself (surely nobody here would hear about it anyways - Poland's not a good place for writters).
    Maybe, one day : )

They do! I have been reading them at an alarming clip, now that I'm unself-employed. :D
