What if? What if indeed.
I am a massive enthusiast of history. Because of such I usually prowl libraries and the internet to satiate my hunger for historical knowledge.
One day, while searching YouTube for videos in relation to the American Civil War, I came across the channel dubbed AlternateHistoryHub. This channel, which I recommend to all interested in history, inspired this thread.
WHAT IF (INSERT HISTORICAL EVENT HERE) DID NOT HAPPEN/OCCURED DIFERENTLY?
You choose a historical event and detail what you believe might have happend if it did not happen/occured differently, what the aftermath would be like and, if you like, what life would like today in that instance. This can be any historical event: from the Fall of Rome to the War of 1812. It is completely up to you.

Oh boy, now im gonna be staying up all night watching this crap
Mine's a bit more obscure, since I did a history project about it last year: What if the Culper Spy Ring was never formed?
The Culper Spy Ring was George Washington's main spy group and main source of intelligence during the Revolutionary War and was originally created to try and help the colonists take back New York from the British. However, the Culper Spy Ring was the group that uncovered Benedict Arnold's plan to surrender West Point, and George Washington, to the British in 1780. In my report, I talked about what it would be like if the group was never formed or if they never uncovered Arnold's plot, it would have changed the entire war, especially if it led to the capture of George Washington. I don't remember entirely what I said, but considering how it could have led to Washington's capture, and the colonists losing West Point, a strategic location from preventing British ships from traveling up the Hudson River, it could have led to their defeat.
I have little knowledge of the American Revolution. This was rather educational.
Their's a show on AMC called Turn: Washington's Spies, which is all about the Culper Spy Ring and their operations, it's a great show if you're interested.
I live in Australia and thus do not have AMC, but I remember seeing an ad for it on a different channel. I will check it out.
