It's about time. I've been wanting to play as a female assassin for the longest time. (Never played liberation, but will eventually.) The only thing that sucks is apparently you only play as her for like 20% of the game.
How do you know?
The very day Anita Sarkeesian releases a new video. Don't pretend you aren't subscribed, forum people, you know you love to get outraged.
That sounds awesome every female I played as Ellie, Clem, lara, Jodie etc have been some of the greatest characters ever to grace a game for me I loved it my last game Rayman legends you had a choice and I picked this warrior female instead of rayman who was like the girl out of brave
I already played as a female assassin in liberation on Ps vita it was fun
I don't really see this as such a big deal though lots of games have female protagonists and female playable characters but a great addition and great news
It's a big deal, I think, because while many games do have female protagonists, they're still quite rare in AAA industry titles.
Also the comments ubisoft made last year about female characters costing too much to bother animating.
Their still making assassin creeds?
Unnecessary comments
Hey! Feminists started every war in human history. We have good reason to fear them.
Beyond two souls, tlou, Remember me, tomb Raider, Rayman legends, life is strange, twd s2, borderlands. GOT, infamous light, bayonetta, portal, the evil within, Alien isolatation etc

Lots more incoming
^ they already made a game and it was awesome
I think it's awesome and great we are seeing more nowadays but not that big a deal and we will be seeing lots more in the future thankfully
Firstly, half of those are not AAA titles. E.g. life is strange, twd season 2.
Secondly, do you really want me to list the games with male protagonists? I can guarentee the list would be far far longer. You're welcome to challenge me on that if you really want to play that game :P
A different studio within ubisoft made that game. The ones who made the comments about women being too costly to animate were the studio in charge of AC5.
Isn't
Also an unnecessary comment?
Furthermore, aren't all comments 'unnecessary'?
I was just poking fun at meninists.
It was a joke. Chill.
You're comments seemed quite baiting in nature. i dont think anyones going to claim having a female charcater is feminism gone mad, and if they do respond then not initiate it for no reason
...Going to be One of these threads made with an agenda to try to get a reaction proven by making such a silly statement
Here we go ok good luck with this thread hopefully you and others will stick with the actual discussion the great news about a female playable character in AC
Okay
If they manage to not make her look like a supermodel it would be a surprise.
No haha, I'm just poking fun at meninists, not trying to start a genuine argument :P
I'm glad games are more accepting of having a female protagonist than they used to be. I remember playing Jetforce Gemini as a young child and thinking that a game having a female main character (out of three main characters) was so risqué and daring.
But, I still won't be buying AssCreed 9: Ah, Fuck It. Ubisoft is a terrible publisher and treats the franchise as little more than a cash cow factory to be used up.
Seems cool, maybe I'll actualy buy another Assassins' Creed Game
Unfortunately, they had to double their team because of all the extra animations.
Still not getting it.
I for one don't give a crap about the ______ of the protagonist and I don't like Assassins' Creed.
Plus Ubisoft. Fuck them.
It's ok, with all the shit a lot of self-entitled individuals (not referring to Mark) talk about how Feminist's bitch and moan at everything. It's funny to see the tables turn and how they toss and squirm when anyone pokes fun at their own agenda and biased viewpoints.
It really is extreme hypocrisy indeed.
I second that. They fucked up one of my most favourite video game franchises of all time.
Which? Or do you just mean assassins creed?
Nah, wasn't ever a fan of AC.
Not sure if you've ever heard of Heroes of Might and Magic. Ubisoft bought the "Might and Magic" franchise once their original developers, NWC (stands for "New World Computing"), got closed due to the bankruptcy of their late owner, 3DO. Since then, the franchise has changed several developers, with each installment growing simpler, more different and not in a good way and more and more away from the franchise's roots.
I could go on a longer rant, but I don't want to bore anyone with it.
I think i've heard of it, was it an xbox live arcade game?
No, it was a PC strategy game series (the "Heroes" one). There was, however, an installment of "Might and Magic" series called "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic". Maybe you're thinking of that one.
Weirdly i think im actually thinking of the DS game 'might and magic: clash of heroes'...not sure how I mixed that up with Xbox live arcade.
Lol, happens sometimes. Either way, the franchise lost its direction and, as time goes by, less and less resembles what it once was.
Thanks, Ubisoft.
Now I know this has already been brought up and you said it was a joke but I find these comments pretty immature.
Anyway to the topic at hand, I'm just happy for another Assassin's Creed. The gender of the protagonist has never mattered to me as long as they were a good character.
I've never played any Assassin's Creed games, I keep hearing that each game is worse than the last. I wouldn't know, of course. But historical settings and assassins sounds right up my alley, so can anyone recommend?
Now I never saw this comment and I can't exactly know when it was made so excuse my absence of information on the subject but...Could it be that they already finished the Co-op game modeling and this money comment was because they saw no reason to waste time animating and doing everything for another character just to add a do nothing female character?
I can recommend not to buy it.
Thank you.
It depends on what era you like, my personal favorites are AC: Black Flag and AC: Brotherhood. I'm just going to list what era each game takes place in:
Assassins's Creed - Takes place during the Third Crusade.
Assassin's Creed II - Takes place late 15th Century in Florence. (Along with AC: Brotherhood and Revelations).
Assassin's Creed III - Its set during the American Revolution.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - 18th Century, the Golden age of pirates.
Assassin's Creed: Rouge - Takes place during The 7 year war.
Assassin's Creed: Unity - In Paris during the French Revolution.
As for the gameplay getting worse, that's not true. It gets improved each game but it gets repetitive real fast.
Thanks! I'll definitely check some out when I can, starting with AC: Black Flag and AC: Brotherhood since they're your favorites and I'm interested in both historical settings.
Not really that impressed when their first female protagonist was a spin-off title, and their second has to share a title with a male protagonist.
If you're gonna check out AC: Brotherhood its actually part of a trilogy consisting of: AC II, Brotherhood and Revelations. So if you wanna be kept up with the story I'd just get AC II first or just google the lore.
He looks like he will to be fair. He's getting the prominence in the trailers and the boxart too.
Most of them are decent AAA titles. The main problem is that they all feel too similar to each other (AC4 excepted, of course).
If you can look past that, then I believe you would enjoy these games (Just don't buy Unity. Avoid that one at all costs).
Why? What's wrong with Unity?
