It's this type of cynicism that will make you think every year will be the worst year in gaming from here on in. 2014 was not a great year, but worst year in gaming? Seriously? Gamers have just grown too nitpicky over the years, and that is fact. No doubt about that.
With all the games I listed above (16 of them) you still consider 2014 the "Worst" year of gaming? As a matter of fact, #TeamSarah was right earlier (before editing the post). 2007 was far worse. Mario Galaxy? Yeah that's great Halo 3 and Mass Effect 1 were great too... and that's all the quality games I can think of, Assassin's Creed 1 is still the weakest entry of the series to me (I even like Unity over it). Halo 3 and ME1 also only came out on Xbox 360. The PS3 had absolutely nothing in 2007 other than the first Uncharted. And did you just see all the games I listed above? Which was 16 of them? They were all good games, disappointments or not as good as predecessors is a matter of opinion (although I can't think of one thing that the first Bayonetta had over the second one) but it also doesn't hurt to mention we had re-releases of so many games on top of that. We had more games in 2014 than 2007 doubled l'd even say!
Look I get that 2014 was disappointing, but it's a mighty bold claim to think it's the worst year in gaming. There hasn't been two decades of good. Getting old and bitter and not liking video games as much could tie into that too, also you'd love to consider the 90's and 00's great too thanks to games that you grew up with and have lots of nostalgia for.
Heck l even remember having a conversation like this in the Rooster Teeth forum back in 2008 with someone saying 2007 was terrible other than for Halo 3 and the like. Notice the similarity? It's the year after the next-gen consoles are released. Some of the greater games (like Metal Gear Solid V and Batman Arkham Knight) simply didn't happen yet. Might as well call the subsequent year after a next gen console "Next gen hangover" with how the following year is always sucky with the year after that getting good. Heck, I'd even say 2014 was the best year of "Next gen hangover" year.

Oh please! This is what someone doe… mores to keep an argument going. There are flaws to every game you're twisting words and saying I'm bashing every game. No, we had some good games in 2014 I won't deny it but every year did tbh. 2014 seemed like a drought and I love how no one addresses the dumbass, fickle gaming community for turning their backs on Watch Dogs when it came out, even though people were comparing it with big name games and wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. I actually thought Assassin's Creed was one of the best (guess its about opinions) I'm not big on it but I see why it's popular. I enjoyed the first one probably the most because it was a breath of fresh air that opened the door for the entire franchise. You bring up a good point about the less Ps3 games in 2007 however SVR 07 was sold on all consoles (best wrestling game since HCTP) and was a stand out game that year and that's what 2007 has over 2014. I won't deny we had good games but in 07 we had games that stood out and are cherished even today. 2014 lacked truly brilliant games that will be remembered year onward. 2014 lacked that and just seemed like a filler year what with all that was promised this year.

Now, Other than my extremely shitty personal Life, My dad getting remarried, and everything that could possibly go wrong going wrong, I had a very good year with Media in 2014! Of course, I hated almost everything Nintendo put out that Year, Same with Sony... But it was awesome!
Five Nights At Freddy's Started, Sonic got a new Style in Sonic Boom, Sega Redeemed themselves with Alien: Isloation, Outlast's DLC was fucking awesome, We got to play Silent Hills, There was the Evil within, RE: Revelations 2 released it's first bits of Info, Batman Arkham Origins Came out in 2014 I believe, Zelda Wii U was Announced, Smash 4 came out, and Street Fighter 5 Got announced!
With Movies, I loved Guardians of The Galaxy, Amazing Spider-Man 2 was great, Captain America 2 Kicked Terriost ass. Big Hero 6 was the shit, And Not to mention, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods!
TV I was especially Loving! I'm gonna list the bunch of shows I started watching when they came out in 2014, and so far, these shows have made me regret nothing!
Steven Universe, Sword Art Online II, The Walking Dead Season 5, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Krang Invasion Arc, Attack On Titan, and a Lot more.
Personal Wise, 2014 was shitty as Hell. But when It came to Media, I loved 2014.
