I believe so. Almost all of the lower courts have ruled in favour of gay marriage, so it's unlikely that the Supreme Court will rule against it. It's kind of sad that it took the courts to settle gay marriage. It would have been much better if it came from legislators or the people.
Not to dampen your spirits too much, but even a SCOTUS ruling in favour of same sex marriage won't completely settle things. The Alabama Chief Justice has said he would defy such a ruling, and even certain Republican Presidential candidates have said similar things (Mike Huckabee). They'll eventually be forced to accept the ruling, but it could be a drawn out, ugly affair. The last time a state defied the Supreme Court, over racial segregation, the National Guard had to get involved.
Agree with everything you've said! When do the states decide? Is it next month?
Now we start work on the next equality hurdles: allowing … morewomen to serve in the armed forces on the frontlines in the uk, allowing gay men to donate blood without waiting a year without having sex, and giving gay couples equal adoption rights.
I'm really proud to be Irish and really happy it went through and that yes had such a big majority of the votes - 2 to 1. I'm happy for everyone who can get married now but it was shocking how against gay rights some people were, like why?
sad? Wait a minute The Irish never made that decision to go to a vote the government did and the vote proved that with such a high percentage of yes :P

THE WORLD BEGINS AGAIN.
It's heartening to see Ireland choose the path of progress and equality. Now it's America's turn.

It's more that the rights of a minority being decided by the majority is pretty dodgy :P
