The good thing about using comic book!Michonne is that they can be a bit more flexible and lenient on who they use as voice actors. Danai portrays the AMC Michonne, whom I've heard is pretty different from the Michonne written in the comics. They don't necessarily need Danai for that reason.
But I'm sure Telltale would still love to have her since she's popular within the fanbase. It would cause her fans to want to check out the game, equaling in more profit for TT. Just like how they got some of the GoT actors to reprise their roles in their game, they could probably get Danai to do it too as long as she has the time for it.
Personally, I don't really care either way, as long as the voice acting is good and believable.

If they can't get Danai they should use Regina King. I always thought her voice was cute and has an emotionless, dark tone as seen on the Boondocks
