Several problems

So I just downloaded and installed the game, only to encounter several problems.

Firstly, there's a horrible lag in the game. While the audio works perfectly, the graphics lag tremendously and it's just not in-sync anymore. What's to blame for this, and is there a way to fix it?

Secondly, I can't see items. The voodoo recipe was just a big black blot on my screen, and opening the item menu also gave nothing more than a black shadow on the right side of the screen.

Thirdly, is there anywhere I can find a manual? I mean, I understand the basics of point and click, but a little indication of which keyboard button does what would be nice. It was a bit of trial-and-error to find that item menu. I've also heard something about changing graphic settings, but I can't find that in the main menu.

I hope you guys will be able to help.

*about the lags, it's hard to say.. what hardware you got?

*changing graphic options is in the main menu under settings.. look around and you'll find it

I had to drop my graphics to 5 or 6 to play the game without lag, try that out. It's much better than being laggy.

Hey, I suffer the exact same problems that you do. I assume that this is because my hardware is quite dated but what has pissed me off is that S&M, SBCG4AP and W&G all run on my system, albeit at a low resolution and graphics quality.

You are unable to change the graphics settings due to the fact that the menu screen is not displaying properly, much like the voodoo ingredients.

If you move your mouse cursor just to the right of 'Gameplay Settings', it should turn green. You can then click through the audio / graphics settings.

If you are anything like me, this will help you to achieve sweet F.A

My specs are poor but easily cover the minimum requirements for the game. I understand that things won't run smoothly but even at the lowest res / qual possible, this lag takes the wet.

    I'm really disappointed.

    Hotkeys; Oh, right! Thanks. ^_^

Hardware... Via/S3G Unichrome Pro igp videocard. I'm... not entirely sure what the driver is, because my computer is Dutch. But if I'm understanding the display menu correctly, it's vtdisp.dlll, version 6.14. Screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768 (32 bit).

Errr... I'm not seeing it. The Settings menu only gives me three 'options'. Hint Frequency, Pop-up Text and Subtitles.

Ahhh, I see! Then, will changing this setting help with the 'black objects' problem, or will I have to go through the game, unable to see what I'm doing?

There should be arrows at the top of these windows around what I believe should say "Gameplay settings" if the arrows aren't there just try to click the area to the left or right of the banner and you should get to "Graphics Settings"

Well, I managed to get to the Graphic Settings, but the quality seems to be locked on 1. Clicking on the 'arrows' next to the 1 does nothing whatsoever. I did manage to set the screen to a lower resolution, but that didn't help other than making text in the bottom right corner unreadable.

I managed to play through the first part of the game enduring great lag and being unable to see my inventory screen (combining items was quite the challenge), but everything went further downhill after the opening credits. Ocean and sky were black, the lag increased and strange blue streaks started appearing and disappearing at random.

since ive never heard of your video card thats probably what your problem is. its got to be some obscure motherboard integrated chip. check your settings in your os to see how much dedicated video memory you have. (if any) if its under 64 thats your problem. if your running windows vista its right click desktop - personalise - display settings - advanced (xp is similar) - you might need a new pc or at least add a dedicated card

your video card probly isnt compatible with dx9 (even if it does have some dedicated memory) and shader model etc which is why your getting artifacts and things disapearing.

i have the exact same problem with the blackness. the opening screen is all black, and everything that you can't see I can't see. did you have any luck yet?

That could be a DirectX-related problem. Do you have the latest DX updates?

I gotta say, this is a brutal spec. Your system is like one step up from a Sega Saturn. You aren't up to the required spec for this game (DirectX 8 compatible card with 64MB is the bare min, and Unichrome Pro is DX7), so of course it can't really run properly.

Are you on a Desktop or a Laptop? If you're on a desktop, you could get a card for about $20 that would bring you more than up to spec for this game. That chipset is from like 2002 or 2003.

    Ha! Ha! HA!!

I know! It sucks for me and Meowzy! My spec is similar, some old-ass Dell Desktop workhorse.

If Meowzy has a desktop then we should both stop being such cheapskates and get a cheap dedicated GPU card.

Still, my argument is that if our GPU aren't capable then the game shouldn't even really boot up. It's like they're getting our hopes up just to break hearts.

Plus, on quality 1 the graphics don't even look as good as Sam & Max. So all this nonsense is just due to some unnecessary, fancy lighting technique or whatever!!!

I don't even play games on PC other than telltale so this truly whomps.

    Booo!!!!!
