What were your favorite childhood games?

edited September 2015 in General Chat

I don't know if there already was a thread about this. If there is, then go ahead and yell at me.

So before all of us went on to the more mature games, we used to play more decent games. So what were your favorite games to play when you were still young?

Mine was Zelda: Ocarina of time. It was my favorite game as a child and still is. I even still have my 64 console and the game itself.

  • Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart, that kind of thing.

I also played some Runescape back in the day.

  • SMASH MELEE

I still play it pretty much everyday

I'd say psychonauts, even if I couldn't understand English back then, it was great.

Well, technically, I was already playing the "mature" games that existed back when I was 8-10 years old. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, GoldenEye, Turok. Not so bad by today's standards, but pretty messed up for the time.

But as far as more decent games go... anything Mega Man, really, but particularly X and the first Battle Network. Wasn't until years later I finally started playing the originals, the rest of the Battle Networks, and the Zero series. Others included Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, and other stuff.

  • I grew up playing the original Sonic series on the Genesis/Mega Drive as well as Toejam & Earl, my friend had a NES so i would play Mario Brothers with him. I also had a Nintendo 64 and loved playing games like Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Banjo-Kazooie and a bunch of others.

I even still have my 64 console and the game itself.

I also still have my original Nintendo 64 and games but i haven't played on it for years.

I actually started replaying the 64 today really because i am about to go to USA in 2 days and will be leaving my 64 behind. So i decided to replay games on 64. Once i started playing it again, the childhood memories came flooding back. Thats is when the idea came to me to make a thread about it.

And also mario 64 was one of my favorites too. :)

My first experience with video games was with the game boy color and the first game I ever got on it was Pokemon Yellow which I played a lot. I also played Rayman The Great Escape on PC and I also loved it! There were also some other games but I stopped playing games when I was a teenager because I didn't have a good PC and I didn't have much time. However, it all changed when I bought a good PC and played Skyrim on it.

  • Me and my cousin used to be obsessed with Pokémon. Whenever a new game came out we'd always have an in depth discussions about who would buy which version depending on the exclusive Pokémon and stuff, we took it VERY seriously. We made it our life goal to complete the national pokedex in atleast one of the games but we never managed to :'(

The last one I played was White but I'm planning on buying a 3ds next year so I can start playing through all the new ones.

  • Maybe you will catch them all on the new ones. :)

Gran Turismo, Rayman, Age of Empires 2 & Pokémon Yellow!

  • I love the old sonic games! The news ones are crap.

  • The Sly Trilogy, Batman Vengeance, Hulk (2003), Lego Star Wars, Ultimate Spider Man, and Spider Man 2.

  • I know, I barely got halfway through Sonic Generations.

  • I played a couple of games on the Nintendo 64 but Banjo-Kazooie was my favorite out of all of them.

  • I have heard of Banjo-Kazooie, but never played it in my life. It did not seem like my type of game.

  • Good times its so sad that so many people hated 06 and that schoolastic basically killed carmen sandiego and clue finders. As for Crash........well they tried a reboot............it failed. At least lego evolved and stil makes kickass games :)

  • When I was 6, Diablo 2 was my go to game. My Dad and I both played that game so much back in the day. Since I was so young though, I had to ask him to beat the bosses of each Act for me.

    It was good times.

  • I agree with you on Diablo. I loved playing that game with my brother.
