Do you wait for the whole game?

Anyone? Or maybe a couple of chapters..

    No way. I'd go crazy.

Same here, Bagge. That's why I'm actually really grateful for the episodic releases, even if you can only purchase them as a whole game: Less waiting time.

Who could resist the piratey charm?
  • edited July 2009
if i'd resisted the urge, i would have had to cheat on my sleeping self... never happen ;)
  • edited July 2009
Nope, I download them as soon as they are released and Telltale send me an email saying it's ready.

I couldn't wait for them all at once, if I knew I could have the first one now! I don't have to wait long for the next part, and in a short time I'll have the season finale of Wallace and Gromit to satisfy my waiting time before episode two of Monkey Island comes out.

No way I could. Although I did almost feel like I missed the pre order because I put off spending the cash for so long.

i'm trying... got the first one and i'm waiting to have to whole season before playing it.

Hell no. Although it's so tormenting to have a cliffhanger like that and waiting a whole month before it'll go on.

When I think about that the whole game will only be finished in November.. *shudder* I can't wait!

I want to be able to post in here about the progression of the series as it happens, that's half the fun!

i would get it if i could get hold of a international credit card. for now ill hold my horses. i go buy psychoauts now that i havent played

Nope, I like getting the game in bite-sized chunks, but I'm a gaming journalist by profession so I find playing long games all at once more annoying than enjoyable. If I wasn't spending all day playing games to begin with I might feel differently.

Why? Ep1 is out and to bridge the waiting to Ep2, there's always Sam & Max or the stuff that Lucas Arts released on Steam Today, aka. Playing through Indy 4 again.

I didnt think I would like the episodic nature of the series, but actually I kinda like it...and it is something Monkey Island fans are not used to..

the anticipation of a new Monkey Island game where its 100% guarenteed that it will be released! and we will have this feeling about 5 times! hehe.

    Hi fellow Monkeys!

Call me crazy. Call me insane. But I will wait to the end of all five episodes! I want to play the whole game at once and don't want to wait inbetween the episodes. I know that when I will start playing I want to coninue in the storyline, not "only" playing one chapter. It will be damn hard but it will work out...somehow...I guess...yay! :) must_be_patient ^^

Actually Monkey Island games have always been episodic. With the difference that you had no waiting times between them :D

No, no, no. The experience of the anticipation and speculation between episodes is one that I really enjoy and wouldn't want to miss. I wouldn't be able to control myself knowing that there are Monkey Island chapters being released and I'm not playing them.

    and speculation between episodes

Looking forward to these forums in between each game and the discussions that will be created. Something that would be missed if all 5 were released at once for sure. I am sure Telltale will have done cool cliffhangers in the finale of each ep creating interesting dicussions/debates :)

The best thing about episodic release is that you can relive the lovely puzzles/ scenes over and over till you get all sea-sick. So it is kind of dumb to wait for more chapters to release before plunging back to the piratey seas.

i was tempted to play the first chapter and treat that as a demo then wait till november to play all the other chapters back to back but i enjoyed chapter 1 so much i doubt ill hold off!

I did this with Sam & Max: Season Two, and ended up never finishing the game.

So I'm playing Tales as they come out. The hype and discussion between episodes is a cool part of the experience.

    No, I couldn't wait!

    I need my Monkey fix.

I definitely will not wait to play any episode. I can get through TTG titles very fast and the wait draws out and adds to the experience. I was too busy to be able to play SaM Season 2 straight away and ended up getting the first two episodes just as the third was being released. This made the first two games far less memorable than other games they have released, as I moved straight to the next game. I like the episodic nature of TTG and would like to see more companies producing adventure games in this manner.

    Dude, are you kidding? :D

As Grossman said is better played episodically because of the nature of the cliffhangers

If that comment was aimed at me, I did say less memorable, not unmemorable ;)
