I don't think they were in that kind of relationship.
It was just a reaction gif, sorry if I offended anyone. I'm not a homophobe
Yes...
I'm pretty sure they were. The picture kinda solidified that for me.
Don't be a homophobe...
Yes, they were. I don't even think its subtle.
You might want to edit the topic as a spoiler, just so you know.
And I had a feeling that there was something going on between the two considering Walter's reaction to Matthew's death, though it's probably me overanalysing.
On it!
Please don't include open spoilers that reference specific events in the thread title. It's better if your spoilers are vague. Thanks!
Oh, sorry
I thought they were a couple. Not too subtle, but not much attention was drawn to it either. I'm not the only one that got this vibe, am I?
I'm not even sure if you can call it a 'vibe.' This isn't subtext to my eye, it's just plain text.
Matt was Walter's partner.
Doesn't he explicitly refer to Matthew as his partner several times?
He was just his good friend. If two man are good friends, it doesnt mean, that they need to be gay.
I knew someone was going to say that. I should have continued with I kid I kid. It was just a joke
It can be either way they can be bros or lovers but remember Kenny talked about Lee alot
yes they were gay, partners, lovers in the night time
So are Luke and Nick.
Two men being good friends doesn't mean they're gay.
One man referring to another as his 'partner' (not law partner, not police partner, not real estate partner, but partner without adjectives) and then nearly losing his shit when he realizes that man has been killed? That's just about as close as the game can come to making it clear they were in a romantic relationship without physical contact.
I doubt it considering kenny kinda said they make a good couple or something and nick says "what is that supposed to mean"
Well it seemed to me to be obvious since the start of this episode.
He could be picky about it and don't want it to be revealed.
What grown ass man refers to a 'friend' as a partner? Sarita even mentions that Matthew and Walter used to vacation together at the lodge, again, it was so obvious to me.
I assumed Kenny was making fun of them/antagonizing them because they both went over and sat down together as if they were guarding Clem. Luke did seem really protective of Nick, but I might just be reading too much into it
you may be right i guess we will have to wait to see in future episodes
Pretty sure they were a couple.
Yes he does. I noticed he did at least once anyway.
he gave him an engraved survival knife sounds like love to me.
Did TT really need to spell it out? Come on guys...
i suppose it depends on people some get it other don't/not so much.
Yeah, but they certainly gave you enough hints. I do like to give TT shit from now and again, but I thought it was really tactful how they revealed that relationship. I'm glad TT did it this way and didn't just have some character blurt out " he's gay?!" Becasue really...who cares anyway?
yeah i'm not gay, but i can usually tell instantly who is and who isn't very rare i'm wrong lol.
i don't have an issue with gay people untill they either use it as an excuse or a crutch or they literally shove it in my face, if it's there but not totally obvious / subtle hints i'm ok with it.
Yea engraved WM for Walter and Matthew
Well, Luke made it obvious he likes girls from his dialogue in episode one, about being an expert at talking to girls who don't want to talk to him. He could have been joking, yeah, but it could just mean he's bi.
Nick did seem genuinely insulted at being insinuated that he and Luke were an item, not that he was embarrassed or anything.
They might be, we don't know for certain, but I think they're really close. The way he (Nick) talked about going in to business with Luke made it sound like they've known each other for a long time, and the respect Luke has for Pete? My guess is that they're childhood friends and now they only have each other to remind them of the past, so I think it goes without saying that they're going to be protective about each other. Personally, with what Nick had been through in the past and during the Z.A., I think Nick and Luke are just really close. Besides, with Walter and Matt being a couple, statistically speaking I find it hard to believe that Nick and Luke & Walter and Matt were both gay couples.
Luke could be bi ,but Nick did seem insulted by what Kenny said.
All we can do is wait to see, though.
Yeah, I'm 100% positive they were partners, and not much attention needs to be drawn to validate it. The Walking Dead has had gay couples in every medium now (comics, tv, video game) and never made a big deal about any of them.
I think it's pretty obvious that they were partners, as in, partner-partners. Nothing wrong with homosexuality, though. It's no big deal.
I'm sorry, but if you can't tell that they're gay you really need to pay attention more.
Pretty sure they were lovers.
They were gay. That's how I saw it. Walter's reaction to Matthew and how he spoke of him to Clem really left me with that impression. I also took Kenny's ribbing at Nick/Luke to be another clue in that direction since this is the same man who assumed Lee could pick locks because he was "urban". He'd probably see any two guys moving together as gay after living with Walter and Matthew. The picture was what sealed it for me.
