That's also one of my predictions... that Clem will lose all the glimpse of humanity. She will end up alone in darkness after going through some really really bad series of events. I expect a bloodbath in the upcoming episodes especially because Kenny is up for a war with Carver and we all know Kenny. When something gets into his mind only a bullet will put it out. So it will go to hell, Clem will lose a lot and will be extremely affected psychologically.

Nice idea. I really wanna see Clementine, or someone get rid of Carver. He's downright horrible. To be honest, I really want it to be Clem. It would lead to some very interesting discussions on the forums and I wonder what the character's reactions would be in-game.

I just realized in the episode 4 slide Clementine's hat is missing! We know that she treasures her hat and would do anything to keep it. Maybe she is going a bit insane at that point.

  • She has killed 3 people (2 are detrimental, Lee's and Stranger's) She is also responsible for the scavengers death in the beginning of S2 and if you want to get technical she inadvertently got Omid killed and detrimentally can get Alvin and Nick killed.

  • Now believe me I don't want Clem. to be Deranged... HOWEVER..

Maybe in Season 3 when we play as Clementine we restore our mental state? "You get to come back..." Sort of way?
It'd be interesting, as it seems what would drive Clementine into insanity is being guilt tripped which I'd know from personal experience only makes you temporarily insane. Maybe she encounters a situation where she can redeem herself and clear her guilt?

To me a mental state meltdown is just as bad as dying. Her character gives us hope in an environment where everything else in society has al

  • The themes combined surely point out insanity, just imagine as she's going they slowly start playing added on episode by episode until she finally SNAP and loses all of her sanity, possibly becoming a person who'd kill without remorse?

Because it's obvious the 2 years on the run in the apocalypse has caused her to be hardened, so the events of this season will be enough to push her off the deep end due to guilt and the inevitable blood that will be on her hands.

  • This was a very good read so thank you for that. Also I listened to the episode 5 music right before bed and at one point I heard it clear as day in my dreams and I woke up practically sweating. That's some nightmare material right there. So thanks for that as well, I guess.

I agree, but Carver would have to do something horrible to Clem that would affect the player, making that option of killing him more desirable: which, I can imagine to be honest. Lets say (I personally am not a fan of this theory, but) Carver rapes Clem. That would be enough for me personally to want to finish him off.

Or another thought i just had, if it came to that decision, Clem could go about it the same way as Lee when it came to killing the St. Johns - Killing them or Walking away.

Base it off the numbers. How many women his own age are there left? Becca's with Alvin. Sarita's with Kenny. He didn't meet Bonnie. And that's it, until we get to Wellington.

Like Boromir in Lord of the Rings who went off the rails (trying to get the ring off Frodo) and then gave his life to save him. I could see that story arc of fall, remorse, and salvation being tempting for the writers.

Boromir never actually stole the ring, because as soon as he saw the disgust, fright, and disbelief on Frodo's face, he backed off and Frodo legged it. TT'd probably do something similar IF they went down that route.

If Clem dies because of Sam, it's safe to say he'll become the most hated animal in pop culture ever. Hell, I'd restart the whole season from episode 1 just to make sure I leave the fucker alive and suffering.

The episode select music for Episodes 4 and 5 aren't necessarily indicative of Clem's state of mind in those episodes. The ones for Episodes 1, 2, and 3 could also be interpreted as being reflective of the external circumstances Clem finds herself in: ambient rainfall and her theme playing to call to mind the fact that she's the only thing left (What Remains), steady tribal drumbeats to symbolize the rising tension between the various factions (A House Divided), and heart-of-the-jungle/psychotic buzzing kinds of noises to reflect the constant danger she's in when around Carver (In Harm's Way).

There's no reason to think that the ones for Episodes 4 and 5 would be any different. Episode 4's sounds like Clem's going to be in a sort of warzone that leaves a great deal of destruction in its wake (Amid the Ruins) while the one for Episode 5 conjures up the image of Clem having to venture into a cold, mysterious, desolate place alone without any other options (No Going Back). So the situation around her is clearly going to get worse and worse for her, but it doesn't necessarily mean that her psychology will become warped or corrupted in some way.

  • That's one optimistic way to look at it.

(...well, slightly more optimistic than what's already been discussed.)
