Nah, I've always been quite partial to the shovel. I did find it to be a nice addition that SOMEONE actually used one though. Shovels are everywhere, I can't believe they are so underused in TWD.

Guns not allowed here and I don't know much about them. So I probably would have to go all melee on them. I would probably make a spear out of some metal and long stick then sharpen it. But that would take a while. If I needed to grab a weapon in my house then this will explain it all.
The katana is a momentum based weapon, so the quick draw is right. It can be used to stab for sure, but the momentum behind the draw is used in rapid continuous slashing motions for maximum effectiveness. European swords on the other hand emphasize slashing and thrusting about equally. Short European swords like a Roman Gladius are especially well suited to thrusts. It would really all come down to a matter of personal style when killing walkers, because both can be used for either with efficiency.
Really? I read somewhere that it was mainly used because it could be drawn pretty quickly and injure inner organs very easily, but is not really good at cutting through bones.

A pair of handcuffs,( Never know what I might need them for).
A cigarette lighter.
Clothes I'd be wearing....
.... A RedHead Explorer Camo fleece Jacket,( For winter mostly).
.... A Black T shirt.
.... A pair of Blue Jeans, ( As their tough, comfortable and durable).
.... A pair of Irish Setter Vipr Trek water proof Hunting Boots, ( Not only are they tough and durable, but they're also built for being able to take off running if need be, unlike other boots that are difficult to run in).
Guns are fairly scarce here as ownership is heavily regulated so the only places to find one would be a police station or the very few gun shops scattered around. Not to mention learning how to shoot. I own a couple of machetes though that I use for yard work and light bushcraft. It's a lot more fun than using gardening tools and looks way more badass too.
I have to say though, most people where I live would probably be better off using some household tool as a weapon as a machete is not really something you can pick up and use on the fly. They are actually quite heavy and an inexperienced user is more likely to injure themselves or be screwed when they realize it's been embedded into something and can be quite difficult to remove.

I would use my skateboard. Good for transport and the trucks could screw up a walker easily
