Do you think AMC's and Telltale's universes should be merged together?

IMHO Rick grimes and Daryl should be in Season 3

  • It really shouldnt

  • I would prefer they don't be merged together, but I would like some more references to them in each other. :D

    No, please god No

  • No, no and... no.

Plus it would be up to Kirkman if Rick would ever have a crossover into Clementine's story. Daryl though is different since he's exclusively a character from the show. But I would prefer (and I also hope) that Rick and Clementine's stories stay separate.

  • Umm... not.

  • IMHO Rick grimes and Daryl should be in Season 3

No. Besides, the game is already canon with the comics. Daryl is a character made only for the tv show.

  • AMCs version is laaame!

  • That would mean merging the comic universe, seeing as the game takes place in it. That's impossible. The comic and tv versions of characters dont match at all.

  • I never understood why everyone hates AMC so much.

  • While I wouldn't really have a problem if AMC wanted to use alternate versions of the Telltale characters(like they do with the comic characters), I really don't think that the AMC universe should be merged with the Telltale/Skybound Universe.

  • cameo appearance could happen but if the TV show and game merge....bye bye telltales walking dead.

I believe the wait time is torture enough for us but having them merge would be worst.

  • Hell to the nooooooooooooooo

I never understood why everyone hates AMC so much.

I don't think that that's the problem, regardless of even me liking the TV Show, I would hate it if the universe's were merged together. However, what I don't have a problem with is alternate versions of the characters. For example, if alternate versions of Lee, Clem, or Kenny were introduced in the TV Show, or if alternate versions of characters like Sasha or Daryl were to appear in Telltales. Having the universes merged would mean that Telltale would no longer be able to be canon to the comics, thus meaning that crossovers with the comics would cease to happen.

However, if you were asking about why people hate AMC as a company, it's because they're massive greedy assholes. After Season 1 of the TV Show, they cut the budget and the actors pay, while increasing the number of episodes from 6 to 13, despite it's massive success. However, that's not the worst part. A few episodes into the second season, they fired Frank Darabont, took the show from him, and scrapped all of his ideas instead hiring Glen Mazzara as the showrunner for Seasons 2 and 3(thankfully, they were replaced by Scott M. Gimple in S4, who is much better). Also, even though they owed Darabont money for the first three seasons. He never got anything from the show past the point where he was fired.

So... people hate AMC because they're assholes, and even though most people don't hate the show(since S4 started anyway), merging the universes would still be a bad idea.

I never understood why everyone hates AMC so much.

  • I'm going to put this as plainly as I can.

I'd rather be castrated by a rusty scalpel than they merge.

I'd rather spend my life with season 1 non-bro Kenny than they merge

I'd rather be trapped in a room having my mind wiped and constantly forced to watch the season 1 ending than they merge!

    I. DONT. WANT. THAT.

  • I get your point with the comic cameos, but we haven't had one after Glenn left, did we? I sure don't remember them. If we ain't getting any more comic cameos, I sure as hell wouldn't mind some TV ones. Or game cameos in the TV show.

Telltale said there would be more Comic cameos in S2, and also if Telltale were canon to the TV Show, then we wouldn't get any crossovers anyway. They're taking place in the same time, so for it to happen, the Telltale characters would simultaneously have to appear on the TV Show, whereas the comics can do crossovers because the comics are still ahead of Telltales. Also, while it remains canon to the comics, we can still see characters like Daryl, Sasha, or Beth, because at the moment, they don't exist in the comic universe, the can be introduced to the comic universe through Telltales'.

So... There's actually more of a chance of a TV crossover if the universes remain separate.

  • I think that would be confusing. The game is based on the comics, not the show. There would be two version of Glenn and Rick. I dont see the point of it.

  • Not everyone hates the show, just the people on this forum. Im a big fan of the show. It introduced me to the Walking Dead universe.

I never understood why everyone hates AMC so much.

  • Are you kidding me? Survival Instinct sucked, the tv show is terrible. I wouldn't want AMC's name anywhere near Telltale or the comics.

  • The show is fucking terrible. Merging the two would require throwing a quality universe in the trash and burning it to accommodate the shitty writing of the other.

  • Oh the day when people won't throw around opinions as facts
Anyway nah I wouldn't want it merged altwrnate versions of the characters maybe

  • edited March 2014

Exactly. Its a terrible way to introduce people to the legendary characters that are Lee and Clementine.

  • Stuff like this is what I mean.

  • Scott Gimple (TV Show showrunner) talks about this subject at Comic Con (at the end of the video):

  • True, I'm not a fan of it happening exactly, but I'm still not fully against it. Well, depends on how they handle it I suppose, but yeah, chances are it wouldn't be good.

  • Hershel was in Episode 1 too, but that's about it.

  • Well if Michio Kaku is right, then it's possible.

  • Road to Woodbury made the game and comics into two separate canons by giving comic!Lilly her own backstory, when originally game!Lilly was planned to be the same character, whom ended up there after Episode 3.

  • Guys, you know what to do:

    Alt text

  • No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO! I don't want to see any the Telltale characters from TWDG in the tv show! seeing alternate versions of these characters would make us think that there are two Lee's, two Clementines, two Kennys, two Bens, two Omids, two Christas, two Carleys, two Larrys out there and I bet the alternate versions would suck because I bet AMC would give them different personalities and make them unlikable.

Hey GOUSTTTT this is kinda off topic, but I'm wondering what happened to my ASDF post from earlier yesterday, I mean it's missing, did the mods remove it?

EDIT: Nevermind I found it on the Meme thread. Ima dumbass.

  • They would make both Lee and Clem white, and possibly make them father and daughter for the fuck of it as well.

Eh, basically all the same places where they were saying stuff like "Kenny's fate will be explored in Season Two." If you want a specific example, then near the end of the Making of video for Season One. They start to talk about Season Two and they talk about how it's going to be darker and there will be more people from the comics, among other things.

  • The show, the comic, and the game are all their own universes. Each one has it's own canon story separate from one another and it should stay that way. The tv show is meh right now though it's picking up a little bit, the comic is so far ahead of the game that it would do more harm than good merging the stories. Just let the game have it's own universe, overall it has the best story of the three (in my opinion) and I can only see a merger hurting the game and what it's built up so far.

  • Telltale staff have confirmed the game is still part of the comic canon. Road to Woodbury just made them into two separate characters.

  • I prefer the game, the comic and the show to stay separated. They all have their own strength and weaknesses. I can't see that merging them would do any good, it would only be too confusing. It would only do more damage than good.
