"What would you do?": Hostage situation in S2E2

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

Just something I've been thinking about. Imagine this:

It's the hostage situation inside the ski lodge. Kenny just shot Carver's guy. Instead of just killing Walter, Carver walks up to Clementine (if she chose to surrender) and asks her to pick one hostage to be killed. Choosing no one will result in all of them being shot. Who would you choose? (Also, let's pretend the determinant death of Alvin doesn't take place).

  • I would probably still pick Walter since it would not impact the others as hard.

  • Damn.... Good scenario.

    Not Rebecca: Has baby

Not Alvin: Husband of Rebecca and possible father of baby. Rebecca will hate me if I kill him

Not Carlos: Father of Sarah. Sarah would become broken and she needs her father or else shes screwed

Not Sarah: A pinky swear is forever

Not Sarita: Kenny will be so pissed and go off again

    Not Nick: Promised Pete

    lol.... Well... Sorry Walter. :/.

  • Yeah Walter as well. Guess Clem was right "Everything will not be fine"

Good points. I too promised Pete to look after Nick, but eh. I'm not sure if I would kill off Walter if I had the chance to save him. It's a tie between Nick, Walter and Carlos for me. If this really happened, I would have ended up with 5 hours of thinking and crying in a dark corner.

  • I'm guessing that Rebecca isn't an option?

Let's see, can't pick Sarah because then Carlos would be super-pissed off at me (and also the friendship thing I guess) and I can't pick Sarita because Kenny just won't stop shooting. So it's down to Carlos, Alvin, Nick, and Walter.

Since my Clem didn't owe Alvin anything (I got the bandages myself), I'd probably choose him. I'd choose Nick if it weren't for my promise to Pete. If I owed Alvin and made the promise to Pete, I'd probably go with Walt since Sarah would just completely shut down if her dad died.

Take the third option and challenge Carver to kill her, if he has the balls. Honestly, I can't see Carver taking out Clem, her potential to become a valuable asset to his cause is too great. Carver has seen enough of her to know that she's very tough and resourceful. I would be surprised if this tactic didn't work, or atleast temporarily defuse the situation.

    Well.... Sorry Walter...

  • I'd have him kill Alvin. Can't kill most of the others for reasons already stated by others in this thread, and Alvin is the least interesting to me. Plus, I would get to keep Walter and that's always a plus.

  • But wouldn't the sassy side of Rebecca come back to bite you in the butt?

  • Yeah, there is no good solution here, you have to piss off SOMEONE. Picking Walter would most likely make Kenny furious.

I don't know about that. He seemed friendly with Walter, but I don't think they were that close.

Besides, how would he even find out? All Kenny would see from the outside is Carver grabbing Walt and executing him. The Cabin Group barely knows him and Sarita doesn't seem like she'd tell Kenny about what you had to do under pressure.

Honestly, picking Walt would probably be the "safest" choice in terms of not losing the support of anyone in the group. I just happen to like/trust Walt more than I do Alvin. Yeah, Rebecca might get pissed off but I feel like she'd be too preoccupied with Carver and the baby to do very much anyway.

  • Alvin because he really pisses me off.

  • I'd go with Walter.

I'm sure that if it came to it , and Carver made them pick a victim, Walter would want to go willingly, too.
I'm sure he would understand and even encourage Clem to pick him.

He just strikes me as the sort of selfless fellow who would do that. He'd see it as chance to be with Matthew again too, I think.
