What's with all these Luke ships???
First clem and luke, now I'm seeing Nuke, for luke and nick. Why are people starting these ships with Luke? We don't even know much about him.
(Okay clearing this out now i did edit my original post, because I think it may have given people the wrong message about what I was saying)

Teenage girls think he's pretty so they want to imagine him shirtless, that's pretty much it.
He is pretty, but its still weird
Luke and Nick. They sure do look like a match.
clem and luke together IS very messed up, I'll give you that, nasty pedophilia shit... but how is nuke "messed up"? there's no pedophilia there, just two men in a relationship. if that bothers you, that's your own problem
just get over it and stop making these threads
Based on how they reacted at the table they aren't gay. Maybe a BROMANCE is better.
maybe. that's your opinion; some'll share it, some won't. i don't really have strong feelings one way or the other... kinda bored of hearing the whole 'bromance' thing though. would rather they be boyfriends honestly, but maybe that's just cause dudes who refer to each other as 'bros' tend to remind me of those chauvinistic alpha male douchebags
er... but i digress. personally, i don't really think their reactions at the dinner table 'disproved' the possibility--in fact i thought the defensiveness nick had almost seemed like he was hiding something, to be honest--but we as the players have the freedom to interpret it any way we want at this point, as nothing has been explicitly proven or otherwise. same thing with their conversation later on: the "you coming to tuck me in?" banter seemed flirty to some people. i imagine telltale is gonna keep it pretty ambiguous for this reason
Well its ok if they were really gay, but I dont think they are. A lot of people are saying they are. The clem and Luke ships is what I find werid. It feels like Luke and Nick have more of a friend kind of relationship. And luke and clem sibling like. Sort of.
Stop creating threads about that stuff, and then people will probably stop this.
Great, yet another person trying to imply that the concept of two consenting adult men in a relationship is just as horrendous and disgusting as pedophilia.
that's fair if you personally perceive nick and luke as just friends, just understand that some view them as more. as long as you don't think being gay would compromise their characters or make you lose respect for them, or something like that. and just don't go comparing nuke to the shipping of clem and luke, that makes it sound like you're equating homosexuality with pedophilia
as for the clem and luke thing being "weird", i'm totally with you there. it's really disgusting to me, pedophilia is horrible and the sexualization/romanticization of it is something i find utterly repulsive and completely unacceptable. and the fact that clem is a fictional character doesn't make it any less wrong, despite what people may claim
I'm a gal and I don't do "shipping", but I think it's probably because there is a lot of mystery surrounding his character. It's to be expected that these speculations will occur now that there is almost nothing else to talk about at this point. We barely know anything about him other than the other's opinions and what we've seen. Plus, there must be something else going on that we are currently unaware of.
First off to clarify, unlike Clem and Luke being together in that sense, which is pedophilia and wrong, there is nothing messed up with "Nuke". It would be just two men in a relationship who are old enough to make adult decisions. Remember Walter and Matthew? They were partners, had hearts of gold, and were probably one of the best people left in 'The Walking Dead' universe to exist. But with that being said, I don't "ship" them. I only see them as brothers so far, if you will. Especially with Luke not seeing Nick as his equal by calling him a kid on the five day walk. Not to mention that he expressed how he is an "expert" at talking to girls who don't want to talk to him, which seems to imply from a story standpoint that he has an interest in women. Although either way, it doesn't matter to me what gender he likes. That's the character's and developer's business, and I'd be completely okay with both directions. What bothers me is how platonic relationships are so overlooked in fiction and reality these days. Like I said in another thread a while ago, friendship matters too in this world, and carries as much weight and meaningful contributions to the plot line as anything else.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions though. I'm waiting for more solid evidence before jumping the gun, but some view them differently. Plus, things can change in the future episodes. And I hope I don't come off rude by saying this (I apologize if I do), but if you don't like it, then it may be best to refrain from creating threads about this. It will only cause more arguments.
Good point.
Well said on all accounts.
The fascination with Luke definitely stems a lot from us not knowing much about him, making it easy to insert a lot of your own ideas into him.
Cluke = Nuke
its a same stuff to me
Thank you for saying that. Lately it has been my biggest belief that the fascination with Luke is coming from the fact that we know next to nothing about him. Not because of the "Only fangirls do this!" stereotype that some users have been throwing around, which is sort of odd to see.
But anyways, hopefully Episode 3 will clear all of this up. Though I have the unfortunate feeling that we won't obtain any more useful information from the story until later in the season.
Cluke needs to be Nuke'd from orbit.
Okay, I'll see myself out.
Oh, Larry, you always know just what to say!
I mean... honestly, Luke is pretty cute. I won't deny that. But his ambiguity is one of the reasons I don't like him personality-wise. However, I can understand why that would appeal to people.
I'm hoping we learn more about him next episode and I hope it's negative things. I want people to start feeling conflicted about Luke.
Well he may have ditched the group at the end of the episode, so that may stir up some negative feelings of he did.
Haha, I don't think I could deny that either. Story wise, he seems to be the male version of Carley in that way. But yeah, I've always been distrustful of him as well. Although I can't wait to know his true intentions. How he presents himself (as the nice guy) seems to always conflict with how he deals with things in my eyes. Examples of this includes him wanting to hide Nick's involvement with the murder of Matthew, and possibly covering up Rebecca's infidelity(?) from Alvin, judging from the second vine that Telltale released before Season Two's premiere.
I agree, it'd be interesting to witness people be more conflicted about Luke. Kind of like how they are about Kenny.
Eh, my only problem with nuke, okay, problem isn't really the word, my... peeve about Nuke isn't that people ship them or anything, but rather the certain people who do think they are canon assume that if one is gay/bi, the other one must be as well. In short, I wish there were more people who considered unrequited love.
Nick, I can see having a thing for Luke. Luke having a thing for Nick? I've tried, but I really don't get that impression from his interactions with Nick. It's plausible to a certain degree but I don't see it as probable.
Regardless, shipping Nuke isn't hurting anyone so I see no reason for anyone to be butt hurt over it.
Yeah, honestly, I find the "Nick with unrequited feelings" theory to be the most likely scenario as well. Romantic or not, Nick has some definite conflicted feelings about Luke and Luke doesn't really express that on his end.
When did they do that at all? They mentioned Clem and Luke as the first major "ship" that was being done, then brought up the next big ship which was Luke and Nick. It's not a comparison at all other than in the sense that the two of them are both part of shipping. If that was really how Ryleee felt they would have mentioned Walter and Matthew.
You're right, I misspoke. I've just seen a lot of people do it before, where they'll just be like "Cluke and Nuke are both disgusting", so it's kind of a kneejerk reaction for me to assume if you're bringing them up in the same breath you're trying to put them on the same level. But that's not Rylee's fault, that's my fault for jumping to conclusions.
Is your username a Fallout New Vegas reference, by the way?
The Matthew thing is exactly what made me stop trusting him. It made me wonder what other things he'd be willing to lie about to avoid making waves. What things he was already lying about.
I think TWD community is very open to same-sex couples. I really haven't seen any major complaints about Matt and Walt, though some people didn't even realize what Walter meant by "partners" in the first place. I generally don't ship myself so it lets me be pretty neutral to the shipping people do. Though ClemxLuke and NatexMolly bugs me to no end due to obvious logical or moral fallacies in those pairings. As they work out more about Carver I can just see the shipping getting creepier, though.
And yep, it is. For once someone didn't bring up the Jim Carrey movie.
It's as open as it can be, I suppose. There are still people who just flat-out deny Walt and Matt were gay, even after the evidence is pointing out to them. But times are changing, I suppose. Maybe they'll come around, maybe they won't, but for the most part Walt and Matt have been pretty positively received and it's nice to see that.
Shipping can be really weird. There are things I like and things I tolerate, but yeah, Clem/Luke is nasty, Nate/Molly is... ridiculous. As for Carver, oh man. I've already seen people shipping Carlos and Carver. You know... the one guy who beat the shit out of the other to force the group into revealing Rebecca. Totally romantic.
Ahh well New Vegas is literally like my favorite video game on the planet so I'm quick to relate things to it.
Same here. The ordeal with Matthew made me even more suspicious of him. I like Luke, and I even understood his reasoning for dropping Clem when she was "bit", but something always felt off about him. Even though I initially had nothing to go on besides the possibility of him hiding some truths about Rebecca's pregnancy. Which would be kind of weird when you think about it, since we don't see them interact often.
We need more hubs. I have so many questions.
If Clementine was like that in Season Two then yes, you can ship her with Luke. But c'mon guys she's 11 year old kid. I just came across this Clementine Rule 34 stuff, and my eyes don't feel so good. So don't try it. It's not funny. It only proves that you're just another nasty pedophilia shit. Who started this? Oh yeah. I remember! Damn you Greg Miller!
I want to theorize about Luke but it's so difficult because we honestly know so little about him. I think he's flighty, indecisive, secretive, and struggles with handling complex emotions and situations, but... I can't gauge his motives. With the Matthew thing, I want to say he was trying to lie to protect Nick and the rest of the group, but Luke is such a difficult character to read that I can't even be sure of that.
I have a lot of questions myself.
The fact that we know so little about Luke is worrisome and intriguing at the same time. I'm conflicted as to how I should feel about this for the overall arc of Season Two. Though in the end, I trust Telltale to do their thing. It's amazing how they've kept us guessing. I'm sure his ambiguity is for a reason, and that all will be brought out in clarity before the end of Episode 5. Or we may be left with a cliffhanger involving him like Season One with Christa and Omid. Hmm...
As for theorizing his intentions, I do think that he was trying to protect Nick and the rest of the group by offering/suggesting to lie, but the only thing that scares me about that is what that means about his moral code. How far would he be willing to go to keep those sort of things a secret? This is all interesting stuff, I must say. It is difficult to decipher him.
This art bugs me because aside from the hat there was no effort at all to make it look like Clementine. The hair's too loose, doesn't have the right nose or eye shape; just a generic "hot girl survivalist", not Clem.
If Luke and Nick were actually gay, I'd be curious on how they would react to each other as a couple, maybe Clementine would be "disgusted" by them.
I doubt that Clementine would be "disgusted" by them being a couple as she has never been around any homophobic people as far as i am aware, She might be slightly confused at first as she has only been around heterosexual people (unless she met any homosexual survivors during the 16 month time skip), she seems like a nice and understanding person so i don't think the would be too bothered by it.
Cluke is fucking messed up like some people think that they would be a cute couple. I saw like two fan fics of 18 year old Clementine and Luke love stories and it's making me angry.
Regardless of his motives, he's definitely hiding things and when they're revealed I imagine he's going to become a far more controversial character.
actually, Yes_Man, i just want to point out that the OP was edited. it originally said something along the lines of "first clem and luke, now luke and nick. that's messed up"
so yeah, the original post did appear to be comparing the two ships, by describing them both as "messed up", it's just that they edited that part out after we called them out on it (if you look at my first post on this thread, you see that i question OP's use of the phrase "messed up", and my rebuttal now makes little sense as she edited it out of her original post)
I think a lot of people don't understand that when Clem is 18 Luke is going to be early to mid 30s. Im not saying that the age difference is necessarily a huge issue but I see Clem as a daughter figure (somewhat) and when i see stuff like Cluke it frustrates the hell out of me.
Looking back at this post with the edit really threw me, I kind of forgot how it had originally been written. Here I was thinking that for some reason I was being an unnecessary asshole but in retrospect yeah that's how it was phrased and I think it's valid for me to be grossed out by that. Thank you for pointing that out.
Honestly she looks too white.
