The subtle joys of saying "..."
Does anyone else exercise their right to remain silent? There seems to be some justification for it, especially with Clementine as the new protagonist. The last time I played through Season One, I noticed that Clementine never talks all that much. I was actually a bit taken aback by how talkative and assertive she becomes post-time skip. At little while ago, I tried playing through the first two episodes while speaking as little as possible. I expected it to be a boring slog, but it was actually pretty fun! I was impressed at the range of emotions Clem was capable of expressing even without talking. Now I'm considering a quiet (read: not mute) playthrough of Season One or The Wolf Among Us.
Have any of you tried something similar? How enjoyable was it? Are there any 'mute moments' that stand out as particularly cool or funny?
EDIT: My favorite 'quiet Clem' moment was when Carver came to the front door. Clem just completely clammed up. As a result, Carver spent five minutes walking around the cabin, talking to himself like an idiot. Meanwhile Clem just glared and made passive-aggressive attempts to kill him/keep him out.

There's some videos of silent playthroughs, like this one here, that are pretty fun:
I love those 'silent playthroughs' but most of them are edited own to achieve complete creepy silence. In unedited gameplay, being 100% silent isn't always an option, since the character will sometimes speak without any kid of prompting. If Clem is lready talking and then suddenly clammed up a second later, it wouldn't make much sense.
Yeah, I see what you mean.
....
I enjoyed that.

If you love "..." playthrough, The Adventures of Mute Lee is DEFINITELY for you. Trust me, it's hilarious. Here's the first episode
yeah, i love the silence option, i really wish more dialogue-heavy games had it
i don't do fully silence play-throughs, but i definitely use the silence option a lot, because i feel like if i put myself in the characters shoes there are definitely times i would be silent. i'm just really glad they give us that option
Haha, yep. That's part of what encouraged me to try. Watching him unnerve the St. John's was hilarious.
I REALLY wish Mass Effect had this option.
I probably would too. When I'm angry, I don't make threats or yell, I just just quietly seethe until I either explode or get over it. I guess that reflected on my playthrough because Clementine usually got quiet when she was either pissed off or overwhelmed. I feel like the quiet playstyle would suit Lee and especially Bigby.
Has anyone done a silent playthrough of S2 that's a continuation of a silent S1 playthrough? I really want to know what Kenny ends up saying about Lee if you let Duck turn instead of shooting him yourself or helping Kenny do it.
"..." works on every scenario. If you are shocked, angry, happy, disagreeing with someone, or agreeing, "..." will always be your buddy if those other options sucks to you.
Holy shit that would be SO awesome. I laughed my ass off every time I hung up on the council in ME1.
Unfortunately "..." is the only buddy we mutes have! Both Alvin and Sarah just wanted me to go away when all was said and done.
I love these vids
You can leave Duck in the woods? That is SO CRUEL! I would have to break the silence, I couldn't live with myself otherwise. Hell, I was guilt ridden about refusing to pinky swear with Sarah!
Those fuckers... I didn't hate them that much, but I let them die to save Alliance troops.
Same. Three cheers for xenophobia!
If you make Kenny shoot Duck he says "When my son...well, he helped me do the right thing. I'll never forget that."
If you shot Duck he says "When my son...well, he took care of him. I'll never forget that."
If you left Duck in the woods, he says "When my son...well, he was there for me."
Am i the only one furious about how he edit the parts where Lee talks out? That doesnt showcase the real mute Lee anyway.
I really GUESS the last part (about Carver walking around the cabin) is a kind of April Fool? ;p
What do you mean?
In my opinion, the best Mute Lee moment was when Andy St. John catches him red-handed after opening the barn door. Lee just shrugs and walks away. It's weirdly hilarious.
"You know... You're a strange guy, Lee."
'Joker, cut the line!'
Most memorable quote of all time.
Nah, it's real and actually pretty funny.
After a time Carver goes
'Can you hear me, darling?'
and Clem nods like a boss.
And Carver is like
'Oh'
Nope, it's "We need to stop Saren"
We both stand corrected.
It must be this one:
Haha,I watched those
Yeah, that was the moment that I realized "wow, I managed to creep out a bunch of creepy cannibals."
Immediately followed by [SLAM DOOR] for good measure.
The "Carver conversation" definately has to be in atleast the top 5 joys. It looks so damn awkward.
Carver: Can you hear me dear?
Clementine: -.- * nods *
Carver: oh, okay. Good.
He just seems so much less threatening.
Also, almost every ... option at the dairy with Lee is amusing as hell.
