I didn't read the comics, so please let me ask you something. Did Rick suddenly turn into a bad fighter/leader in the comics aswell? He was such a badass in the first 3 Seasons of the TV show (exept this unnessesary " Rick goes crazy and sees Lory " part) and i definitelly expected him to win the fight with the Governor and obviously the fight with Joe aswell. The neck bitting scene was nice and shoking, but i am just dissapointed how Rick's character is developing.
when joe grabs rick i was like, rick is about to bit his neck. when the fat guy taped on carls window, i was like: hes gana try to rape carl but rick is going to stab him 37 times for trying to rape him.
I've noticed that the TV series are poor at doing human on human battle scenes, there were hardly any in the first two series when it was all just about the zombies oh and Shane. In my opinion what makes the walking dead game and TV series great is the drama of a zombie apocalypse NOT the battle scenes, well at least how they are adapted in the TV series. Season 3 was poor in comparison with the first 2, season 4 was doing quite good with the last few episodes as there were no poor action scenes except for the finale which was stupid, it's so typical.
So now Rick is some over the top badass who kills people by biting their throats off? Plus none of the main characters die as usual, how they all came out alive from Joe's group holding them at gun point and then killed them was ridiculous. Load of crap man, escpecially the last scene and line Rick said, that was just lame.
I can see the TV show getting cancelled if it carries on ruining it with this cheap shit.
Knowing what happened in the comics, I had a feeling it would make its way to the show so it wasn't all too shocking that he bit his neck. That was sooo 77 issues ago
If all you're expecting is action scenes than I guess you would be disappointed. I get disappointed in fans who thinks thats all there is to the show. It really makes it seem like people are just waiting around for stuff to happen, and a lot did happen, instead of actually paying attention to what the show is about and what the characters are saying. Its trying to build a long lasting story, not just show people killing zombies.
Yeah, plenty of people who just want to see fights and action always get disappointed when the characters actually try to talk to each other. It kind of drives me nuts. But there are plenty of fans who do appreciate the show or else it wouldnt be breaking ratings records.
Rick is not a bad fighter or leader. He was trying to create some normalcy for his son. He felt like Carl was getting too cavelier about killing and he wanted to bring him back from that and try to give him some kind of childhood. Rick is not shoot a first ask questions later type. He's a negotiator. If he can talk people down, he will try to do that first. He's the exact opposite of Shane and thats why his people have stayed so loyal to him for so long.

I know that, it just seems weird to me that Rick suddenly seems to lose every man fight he was in lately. The Governor totally owned him and Joe also did. He seemed to be a very strong fighter to me and now he suddenly needs to bite people to death, to win a fight.

did anyone else notice the "amid the ruins" music playing in a couple of points in this episode, when they jumped over the fence of terminus was one point

No, that was a "I only have my mouth free and dammit Im going to use it if that means saving my son from getting raped" move. All of them were getting beating, Daryl, Michonne and Rick. They could only fight so much with guns trained on them. Rick can fight. We've seen it, but sometimes the circumstances are stacked against him. In which case, he does what he has to do.
Really? It felt great to me. I was cheering. Rick obviously wasnt beaten down. Everyone else was but he was the one still rallying to fight. And yeah, huge cliffhanger.
It felt a bit anti-climactic to me, actually. But the rest of the episode was amazing! I was so uneasy when the guy tried to molest Carl, and when Rick bit Joe to death. It just goes to show what a parent is capable of doing when their child is in danger.
The whole second half of the season just seemed like they subbed in the the plot of Stand By Me, and then Of Mice and Men for one episode, and added zombies. It seemed like they spent their whole budget on blowing up the prison/building terminus.
Well, I love it. Since Season 4, I think they've been handling the content from the comics better than it was done originally. Example: The finale. In the comics, they were just random bandits, but because we had the characters split up in the TV Show, we got a larger view of the world, we meet Joe and the bandits, it we got to know them a bit before Rick took a bite out of their leader. It was a smart story decision, because it was a short, interesting side tangent that was something the comics never thought to do.
More examples: Lizzie and Mika were handled better than Ben and Billy. Ben and Billy had zero development, and no one cared about them really. There was nothing leading up to it, and it just wasn't done as well when the time came. People cared at least a little about Lizzie and Mika, there was plenty of build up, and it linked up with other previously unknown parts of the story.
Let's just talk about the characters themselves. The relationship between Carl and Michonne is great, I like that they are focusing on Tyresse's rage more, and him controlling it especially(remember him almost killing Allen in S3?). Carl has had more development than Comic Carl, especially with the "I'm just another monster" moment in the finale. I think that Rick is a better character in the TV Series mostly because of the human element that Andrew Lincoln adds to the character. Andrew Lincoln is a fantastic actor, and he adds a whole other level to Rick's character.
The Comics were doing better than the TV Show for Season 1, definetly Season 2, and still Season 3(although I loved the TV Governor compared to Comic Governor, who had little development, internal conflict, or human element in the comics. He was basically just a random psycho, TV Governor was more than that). Season 4 though... I honestly think it handled the story material better, and I trust Season 5 to do the same.
I didnt like the cliffhanger ending, the show is still good, but its been getting worse since the second episode.
This last season was just very badly presented I found. The worst were the 2 Governer episodes, Im not saying I didnt like them individually, but they dedicate 2 full episodes to him and then kill him immediately afterwards, it was just such a waste of time, should have cut it down to half an episode.
I do like to see what happens to the group members when theyre forced to split up and travel, but it just dragged on for way too long, the series was all over the place. I would have enjoyed it more if they averaged 1 group finding another once per episode.
Finally, the cliffhanger ending left me with little consolation. When there is a major cliffhanger ending I want something concluded, or something that can be speculated. The way it ended was just left completely in the dark.
Yeah, it was like Carl would be shot or a hostage, or he would make some insane move and not escape but run somewhere into Terminus with Rick not being able to help. I know that part seems dangerous but they were hesitant to actually shoot and if they didn't expect the "kid" to dash into the buildings, I think Carl could
Now when you think of it.. I was excited when Carl were standing there all by himself. Thought they were gonna shoot him anyway of take as a hostage, that would have been interesting to see how it would have affected Rick.
I guess the gun fight would count as half an action scene. Minus Rick shooting the first guy, it was fairly obvious the gun shots after that were just trying to herd the group into a corner.
I am dissapointed as well. I don't like the show, it kills time but only that. I think the TWD universe must be left to the people who can make a good story out of it like TTG.
I think it's more like, they don't know what Rick's group are capable of. I wanted him to say "What we're capable of " to show that they'd make tough, hardened, even semi monstrous to enemies because of the Gov and Joe's group hurting them so much. It'd be like the Hunter finale in the comic, only slight foreshadowing of it
I thought the season finale was typical, but the last line was pretty stupid. When Rick freaked out after finding the watch, seeing the riot… more gear and poncho, is it much of a stretch to think that one of the "Termites" put two and two together and thought that maybe this "Ringleader" knows the people they took that stuff from?
They're not going to feel stupid, Rick. They know.
That isn't OTT, that's showing what people are capable of, it's in the comic and people love it. The TV series could be different to your taste but complaining about shiz in the comic is just not going to change anything. They don't even need to kill characters in a finale ep, they killed Hershel, the Governor, Lizzie and Mika all brutally. Look at S1, only minor characters like Jacqui and Jenner, S2 only minor characters like Jimmy and Patricia, S3 one main character, Andrea, and Milton a minor character. It works as the main characters are killed any ep, Dale, Shane, Lori, T Dog somewhat and Merle. They kill main characters, it doesn't need to be in finale eps

Yeah, I feel the same way. I particularly love the relationship between Carl and Michonne as well. I'm a huge Michonne fan and I love her TV portrayal very much. At first, I wasn't sure about how Danai would play her, and I thought she was too silent, but now that she's opening up and becoming more comedic and almost mother/sister-like she's amazing. The TV show, in my opinion, does a great job at developing the relationships between the survivors. Hershel's friendship with and influence on everyone in the prison kept everyone going even when he was killed and they were separated. Carol and Tyreese were much more than their relationship in the comics. Hell, Carol is totally different and I love TV!Carol much, much more. I find myself more invested in the TV characters than their comic counterparts and in their relationships. I think the TV show is Kirkman's way of sort of revising certain parts of the comics, which might be why I like the TV show a bit more.

I liked season one... then season two was fucking shit. Season 3 was better, only because it wasn't on that stupid farm. Then season 4 was eh... except for "A". Just realized... the world of pretty little liars has entered the walking dead world... What a twist!
they only take certain things from the comics and twist it in their own way usually they do it in a shittier way I do like the tv show but some of the changes from the comics are just not that great imo and lets not get started on the writing and how they drag things on
Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn and the writers at telltale are the real people who make it good the writers at amc just shit all over most of it (and yea I am aware Kirkman is involved in the tv show writing)
Eh, I really liked Season 2, it was people living during the ZA and had interesting characters and challenges, not non stop action just for the sake of it like S3. Like when the prison got attacked and Lori died made no sense to me, a guy stays in a prison kitchen for almost a full year hiding, then hes zombie hunter supreme?
Not only was he able to go out and hunt a deer with nothing but the clothes on his back in less than a day, but he was able to avoid zombies while doing it, THEN drag it around and come all the way back to the prison, then cut it up, all the while avoiding zombies in the prison itself, then push his way through to get into the generator room.
Also, the whole Andrea moaning and bitching arc was incredibly annoying. The only reason I liked the Woodbury half of the season was Meryl.

Well said, some viewers doesnt appreciate anything but ACTION
"They're screwing with the wrong people." After he said that I thought yeah they don't have plot armor.
I know that, it just seems weird to me that Rick suddenly seems to lose every man fight he was in lately. The Governor totally owned him and Joe also did. He seemed to be a very strong fighter to me and now he suddenly needs to bite people to death, to win a fight.

He won that fight against the guy that was on the toilet. And he was still recovering from his wounds.
Joe had a gun to his head. What did u want him to do? If Joe was unarmed Rick would've beat dat ass lol
Rick punched him, Joe punched back and Rick was going down. Rick bitting him was a move out of frustration, because he wasn't able to win the fight.
No, that was a "I only have my mouth free and dammit Im going to use it if that means saving my son from getting raped" move. All of them were getting beating, Daryl, Michonne and Rick. I think the shows gonna get a lot better when they get to the Negan plot.
I dropped the tv show, after this season no more TWD. This 4th season was too ugly

They do make it good. Just not for your taste
It is my personal opinion after all, if you enjoy it then no problem.
the 1st season was ok, than it's gone downheel super fast.
Season 2 sucked major balls. I'm looking at you Mazzara..
Frank Derabont was awesome.. Too bad he was fired by amc and was replaced with Mazzara.
And Robert.

The worse seasons yet and possibly ever.
Nope
Scott Gimple
Eh, some eps he made are good, like the S2 farm defense. I like S2 for the characters. I only felt like I'd learned about the characters so much in S2
