Why do people hate the timeskip?
The 16 months later one, (not a big fan of the 5 days later one) I honestly loved this part so much. How Clementine changed so much, how her fear has just hardnened her. I thought it was a really good scene. And I actually like older Clementine because she's really independent & can be sassy which is kinda funny. As for what happened with Christa's baby, it may just come as more of a shock when we hear what Clementine says.

I like it too, but its such a quick transition. A little too quick for me
I really did not care about the time skip that much, because it shows how much Clem has changed in sixteen months. Still, some information on what happened during that time skip would be nice.
Because it's just unbelievable that nothing important happened between those 16 months. It's a hell lot of time in an Apocalypse.
It was probably just filled with scavenging and running away from them zomzoms.
Important stuff happened. Like Christa giving birth, and what happened to the baby. Before Season 2 came out, that was right up there with "What happened to Kenny?" as one of the biggest questions. Instead of actually getting to see that important plot thread left over from Season 1 play out, we just got a time skip and were left to assume what had happened. I can understand why they did it, wanting to catch up (roughly) timewise with the comics, but I still don't like it.
i think it's because they don't tell you anything that happened, and also that so much can happen in a few weeks (s1 ep 2-5) but here in 16 months barely anything happens other than christa having omid/christa jr.
It was somewhat of a loss opportunity to toss out so much time between the events of S1 and S2, but like TWD_25, I don't really have many problems with it either. It's quite effective in speeding up the hardening process of Clementine's character, even though it does feel a bit like a cheap move... Maybe we'll get a future DLC that shows what happens in between those 16 months?
My philosophy is if something truly important happened, it would've been shown. Christa's fate isn't set in stone yet, so it's still likely we'll meet up with her again and very possible that a lot more of a back story to what happened during that time will come to light.
It was an excuse for the writers to mold Clementine from an kind and innocent little girl into pretty much whatever the player wants in season two.
Because I'd rather play as Clementine, you know that girl everyone loved who was with Lee in season one!!
Not that new Clementine in season 2 who is proper sassy and badass and thinks she can say and do whatever. She don't need no manual on how to turn off a wind turbine, she's Clementine!
The baby dying is no important? Really? And also, it give us a lot of DLC possibilities, which is good
Maybe it is intentionally kept a mystery.
Imagine it this way: the skip was set in order to place a gap - a hole in the story shrouded in hidden scenes.
Later in the season, Clementine and returned Christa will reflect on those events. Depending on your whole adventure, the way you played Clementine, this story would be different. It would fill that gap of skipped time with a determinant explanation of what made Clementine the way you control her.
The more "evil" or "battlehardened" choices you make during Season 2, the more cold, cruel this story becomes. In order for Clementine to be corrupted to the level of your choices, the gap is filled with relentless misery porn, which will undoubtedly serve as a massive player punch. One could imagine that this would be like the scene with the Lee and the Stranger from Season 1 where he verbally wounds you with insults about your past "mistakes" of choices from the entire season.
How about that?
Some people felt that it happened to fast, how Clem went from the sweet, fragile little girl to the hardened, tough as nails survivor and it left a lot of unanswered questions. I just hope we do get to find out what happened during that 16 month gap later in this season because that's a really long time that passed by, If Christa returns, maybe they can have a moment where they explain what happened when they were together or maybe some sort of flashback to better explain things.
