The Characters

What do you think about everyone so far?

Clementine, she's changing and I don't want her to. I know I have to let go at one point and I guess I will. However I didn't let her watch Kenny kill Carver. I don't think we can shelter her any longer and thing's wont be easy anymore.

Kenny. More badass with one eye and a marvelous beard. His decisions can be rash but his intentions are good. But DAMN! That beating Carver gave was brutal. BTW I restrained Sarita (Don't hate!)

Sarita. Nice, I wonder what she thinks of Kenny now. I cut off her arm. Did you? The ending kind of sucked. I cut it off she screamed then 'Next Time On The Walking Dead.' I wonder how long she will live...

Carlos. We all saw it coming. I absolutely knew he was going to die, but that sucked :(. I liked him. What kind of work was Carver making him do? When he slapped Sarah I instantly hated him more then I did before.

Troy. I defended him before, and I think he's okay. I love his voice! Good thing he didn't hit Clem with the gun, just his hand (or at least in my play through). But he was a follower. He did whatever Carver told him to... What was his relationship with Jane? And that death.... Not bad :D.

Carver. He got insane on a whole new level. He was just so evil and crazy. I don't even know why people work for him, and follow him. I actually didn't want him to die, but I was okay with it when there was no choice to stop Kenny. I didn't watch him die, how was it for you guys? If you watched do you regret it?

Sarah. Poor girl. I helped her in the greenhouse. Did you? I feel so bad for her, and I hope she's still alive and we find her.

Reggie. WTF!!!!!!! NOOOO! I yelled Reggie at the screen 20 times. We just met him and then he dies.... I really liked him. No comedic value for us I guess... (You can't save him right?)

Mike. I like him. Pretty cool dude. Not sure if hes trustworthy though. He seems nice enough, and hopefully he makes it to EP5!

Jane. Weird... She is a good survivor though. Not sure if we can trust her but she is badass and knows what she's doing. I don't know what to think about her.

Alvin... Aw man. I guess we knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Honestly when I saw him in that room I thought he was dead. When I came back and he got up I was so happy. He went out like a hero. Love the guy.

Hank. You probably don't remember but he's the guy on the roof when you sneak to get the radios. He has a beard and if you save Alvin then he shoot's Alvin, and Alvin shoots him. Is he still alive if Alvin dies in E2?

Bonnie. I like her more now. I trust her and I think she's still a good person and I hope you guys think so too.

Tavia. Don't like her anymore. Really dull lame character now. No offense lol.

Luke. Glad he's okay. He wouldn't go traitor! Still a awesome dude. And what would he do with the radio? I don't understand what he would do with it

Nick. HE LIVES(For me)! Yes!!! Didn't have much of a role but I'm happy he's still alive for me.

Rebecca. No baby?... What does the slide supposed to mean..?

(I didn't add other 400 day's characters because I didn't see much of them.)

Did I forget anybody?

    Long post incoming.

    • Kenny. Well.. I haven't really done much pondering on his actions in EP3 quite yet, but I'm glad he finally got called out (by Carlos and Rebecca) to think his plans through before executing them. I like Kenny and all, but that's gotta be one of his major flaws. He's too impulsive and brash. Gotta plan things out and bide time if you have to. Something Kenny is not exactly notorious for doing, at least in S2. Also, Kenny probably lost his whole eye. Won't be surprised if he gets an eyepatch in an upcoming episode.

    • Sarita became so much more developed as a character in EP3, which I'm glad about. The final scene with her getting her arm cut off was extremely intense, I wonder if she'll survive the amputation.

    • I'm happy Carlos actually got some use as a doctor. I saw his death coming though, I figured he would be killed sooner or later to further Sarah's character development. R.I.P Carlos, he was a great guy, despite the dog bite situation in EP1. Brave too.

    • Troy. Bleh. Whenever I saw him on screen I sighed, he only brought trouble, save for the first 2 minutes of the episode where he actually seemed somewhat polite. I liked him better when he was silent, though his VA Owen Thomas did a good job. As much as I cringed, his death was poetic justice. He had it coming. I still don't get his relationship with Jane, guess I'll have to re-watch his death scene. I wasn't really paying attention to the subtitles. From what I hear Jane was trying to seduce him I guess, she actually succeeded in calming him down for a minute then, bam. Dickshot. Rest In Fucking Pieces Troy.

    • I don't really feel like going in-depth to this right now, but I explained my thoughts on Carver's characterization on another thread. To be concise, I was disappointed. He had such potential for being a great antagonist in A House Divided, but in EP3 he was violent just for the sake of it and lost the charisma he had in EP2. He didn't even *need* to be violent in EP2 to be incredibly intimidating, even while he was being civil. I wasn't intimidated by him in EP3, just pissed off and angry. Also, a lot of his unreasonably violent actions felt contrived. His death was brutal, but he deserved to die really.

    • I like Sarah. I don't know why but she reminds me a lot of myself, maybe because I'm hopelessly idealistic or I get anxious and down really easily. She's a liability, but I don't give up on people simply because they're a hindrance. I comforted her every chance I got. I'm wondering how her character will develop now that Carlos is gone, maybe she really will cease to function. There's a lot of potential there for an interesting coarse of change in her character. Hopefully she won't become the next Lizzie.

    • Reggie's voice acting wasn't great. I felt bad for him while playing the episode, but I wished he'd stop pandering to Carver and assist with escaping. His overall character was meh. Could've been done so much better. His backstory was pretty sad though, getting stuck behind while trying to help Luke and the cabin group escape, and punished by Carver thereafter.

    • Mike's a cool dude. Dunno what to think of him yet, but he seems dependable and a decent guy. That scar on his cheek is pretty cool looking.

    • Jane.. eh. I had mixed feelings about her at first, but her manipulative nature is making me inclined to dislike her. Plus I'm not a huge fan of 'silent pragmatic badass' characters like her. She is a good survivor, but it seems like she'd be better off on her own than in a group.

    • Alvin's death was depressing, but at least he died like a badass. I think Carver was using George's death as an excuse to torture him, and honestly I thought he was as good as dead at first. R.I.P Alvin.

    • Bonnie's great. I knew she wouldn't be a bad guy, and I enjoyed interacting with her. Lightened up the episode for me.

    • Luke developed a bit in this episode. I wasn't expecting for him to suggest leaving people behind, and I didn't think he was the type to not want to kill Carver. Whether you're a pacifist or not, you can't deny that Carver was a danger to everyone around him, especially the cabin group, who he would surely track down once they escaped.

    • I was disappointed with how little Nick did this episode. We only got one chance to talk with him, and even then the whole conversation lacked substance. He could've done a lot more, maybe aided Clem in doing something so his appearance didn't feel entirely useless. I'm glad he didn't die though, but I'm certainly hoping he gets a bigger role in EP4.
  • Thanks for answering! I agree with mostly everything you said :D

    • Kenny: I still wish that he died in episode 4, that ending just felt right for him, but it is nice for Clem to be with an old familiar face though clearly he's loosing the plot. "His decisions can be rash but his intentions are good." That pretty much sums him up for me though. He means well but needs to work on his anger issues and it was nice to see him being called out.

    • Sarita is a character I neither dislike nor like. She's nice sure, but I feel like we hardly got to know her that well. The arm had to go though. It worked for Reggie so figured even though we are without a doc now, at least she has a chance.. or she would have had.

    • Carlos: Another character I neither like nor dislike. I think everyone and their mothers saw his death coming so Sarah's character could be developed further. I'm just sad Sarah had to witness it. Carlos could have survived the gunshot to the ear but the screams attracted walkers.

    • Troy: I never liked him much in episode 2 and the trailer for episode 3 didn't help, however I knew he was following Carvers orders so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I wish I hadn't. He's just down right cruel. Definitely been around Carver too long. He got what he deserved. Go Jane! :D

    • Carver: *sigh* I don't like him but I really didn't think he would die in this episode. I thought he'd at least make it to episode 4, if not 5. However, once he was back in his camp it became obvious just how cruel he was. I am surprised no one else has tried to escape his camp before because he runs his camp by kidnap, blackmail and violence. Pushing Reggie off the roof just because Sarah and Clem hadn't done enough work? Urgh. Carver really does play favourites. He got what he deserved.

    • Sarah: I like Sarah. Yeah sure, first meeting with the pink promise was creepy as hell but I guess she was just glad to have someone close to our own age for once. She is a liability but that's not her fault. It's Carlos' for coddling her for so long. My Clem is her friend, helping her out and comforting her when needed but Clem hasn't been sugarcoating anything for her either. Adults aren't immortal, so kids need to know how to look after themselves incase something happens... which it has to Lee, Carlos and many others already. Sarah needs to grow up fast...just like Clem had to do. I look forward to finding her and seeing how her character develops now her dad is gone.

    • Reggie: I liked Reggie and his backstory but he was too much of a suck up. Trying to be nice to everyone but also keep on Carvers good side. Ofcourse I understand his reasons. If you got left behind in an escape then you'd want to do everything you can to stay in the good books.

    • Mike: Hmm... don't know enough about him to have an opinion at the moment. I'm sure he's a good guy but the way he argued with Kenny over who should get the walkie talkie when clearly Clem is the right one for the job...

    • Jane: I like her. Don't know much about her and sure she's a bit of a loner but she figured out how to get though walkers and has survived this long. Plus I think she deserves points for what she did to Troy. Clearly they had a bit of a thing but she was just using him. She does have a point about the group - pregnant lady, one eyed man, one armed lady... that's quite a group but don't try and turn me against them. Clem won't turn her back on her friends.

    • Alvin: oh Alvin. I knew this was going to happen. Not because of his determinant status but because of Rebecca and George but mostly Rebecca and the baby. I do kinda wish he died in episode 2 now so he wouldn't have to go through all that torture Carver put him through.

    • Bonnie: I am so happy about Bonnie. I was a fan of her from the beginning (400 days). In episode 2, I was shocked to see she worked for Carver but I never once hated her. I knew she wasn't bad and I really liked the interactions with her and Clem in episode 3. I am also so happy she's joining forces with us like I had hoped/suspected she would. Hopefully this will make more people like her too.

    • Luke: I do love Luke. I knew he wouldn't leave us and I was so happy to be reunited with him, just had to hug him. Of all the cabin group, he's been the one that's been there for us the most (aside from Pete ofcourse). I was surprised to hear him suggest leaving people behind but I know he was just trying to give everyone the best chance of survival.

    • Nick: Yeah Nick... I too was disappointed with how little Nick did this episode. Alvin and Nick were both alive in my playthrough and we didn't see much of either of them. I know he has a determinant status but it really did see like there wasn't much point him being there. He was effectively a background character and I have a feeling he will die next episode.. Hopefully he'll get a decent chunk of screen time before that happens though.

    • Rebecca: I was so certain she'd be having her baby this episode. That's what the slide suggested... but no. She's definitely due to pop though so it HAS to be next episode. Since we've gained her trust, she's actually quite likeable character and unlike Kenny and Nick, she prefers to actually come up with a plan before acting on impulse.

I left Clem off the list because it's Clem. EVERYONE LOVES CLEM
  • Troy is voiced by Owen Thomas who is also the VA for Omid.
