The Walking Dead it's on the top but i can't even think about a top 3.. there's State of Decay for example, and Project Zomboid it's pretty funny till you die and you have to start all over D:

I am not really into action-ish zombie games. I prefer survival horrors. Though telltale's own version of a zombie outbreak game has recently become my favorite type.

Just those two perfection the best games ever

3. Resident Evil
3: State of Decay. It's got one of the best principles of a Zombie Survival game, but it's faulty in broken performance issues and an overwhelming side-quest exhaustion. The moment you get into the game, all your playable characters are tired, you're told to do 6 things at once, and there's a heavy reliance on mods that are meant to improve upon what the developers hadn't included, such as the ability to pack trucks with supplies and a "Romero Rules" zombie mechanic that eliminates all special undead, but increases the threat of normal deadites.
2. Left 4 Dead 2. A more action oriented Zombie game, but one I don't mind spending time on. This is a personal favourite due to the modding community enforcing the game's variety with a strong arm. Nowhere else can Captain Falcon and Duke Nukem team up to kill zombies, while armed with the Thundercats sword and Doom 2's Super Shotgun. At the moment I'm replacing Louis's voice files with Lee Everett's, to go with a Lee skin, but there are soooooo many files to change, and for each one I gotta search through 5 episodes of dialogue to find the right one. Arrrgh!
1. Gotta be The Walking Dead. This isn't a game in it's beta form, or undeveloped state. Unlike Project Zomboid, which started as an early beta, or Day Z, which is the Counter-Strike of Zombie Survival games, TWD has a finished polish to each new installment and builds content, not through patches or downloadable add-ons, but through new and refreshing chapters that continues the story. It's focus on the survivors being vulnerable and keeping the undead (no matter how small their numbers are) a menacing threat truly enforces the Apocalypse in the term "Zombie Apocalypse". Sure, the latest episodes of the 2nd season have been lowering the threat level of zombies in favor of more human villains, such as Carver's group and the mistrust of the Cabin Crew, but playing as Clementine balances this decision. If it were Lee in her shoes, he'd probably have been ignored by Pete and Luke, and not because he is urban, but because he is an adult, capable of taking care of himself.
Edit: Gotta make an honorable mention for House of the Dead 2. In the end, we all suffer like G did?
