How should Nick meet his maker?

I think most of us can agree Alvin's death was one of the highlights of episode 3 - and I don't mean that in a "Ben" kind of way. Telltale managed to give Alvin an end that was simultaneously tragic and heroic. THIS is exactly what we need to see from a determinant character.

At the time of this post, Nick is the longest surviving determinant character on record, having lasted all the way to part 4. If the achievement "All Fall Down" hints towards an Alamo-style massacre of most of the principal cast, how would you want to see Nick bow out in a manner that's just as effective and powerful?

For a moment there I thought that by "maker" you meant his father, but I guess it's just my mind playing tricks with me.

As for Nick's death, I'd imagine that he dies holding off a number of attacking enemies/zombies/whatever, allowing others to retreat to safety.
  • Nick isn't the longest surviving determinant character on record because he became a determinant character on episode 2 which means he has survived two episodes while being determinant along with Doug or Carly.

As for his death, I would like him to go out defending Luke in some way, it seems like something Nick would do for his best friend. I hope he somehow makes it to episode 5 though.
  • He's probably gonna die unexpectedly just like Carlos I think
  • He shouldn't die tho :(
  • Honestly he can just die at the very beginning of episode 4 from choking on a peanut shell and I'll still end up a weeping broken mess, stroking my monitor and whispering, "Good night, Sweet Prince, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
  • XD I'd probably be the same way.

  • If Nick does end up dying in the attack, I'd like him to go down, as you said, Alamo style. He runs out of ammo then swings his rifle like a club as a bunch of walkers close in on him, and ends up distracting them just long enough for Clem, Kenny, and the others to get Rebecca to a safer place before they go back out and keep fighting the walkers themselves.
  • He should ''meat'' he's maker if guys know what i mean

If he does die like this, the real question is how do they make this scene if Nick is dead for the player?

  • Nick getting bitten, and sacrificing himself to save his friends in some real heroic way...but preferably way WAY after he gets laid by Jane or Bonnie so he doesn't die a virgin XP.

But I definitely don't want him going out like he did in Episode 2, or being there one minute and shot in the head the next. Nick needs a good send off like Alvin, and he needs to say bye to Luke or asks Clem to. [Actually I got a quick question, if Nick is killed in Episode 2, does Luke make any mention of him?]
  • I think Clementine will be stuck (maybe her weapon is stuck in a walker or something) and as a walker is about to dive at her, Nick jumpes in front and gets bitten on his arm. Clementine is shocked and out of a fit of rage, regret, guilt and sadness gets the weapon out and kills the walker.

Later the group is safe for a while and it's clear that Nick is going to die as it's too late to amputate his arm. He thanks Clementine for all she's done (depending on whether you helped him with grief, defended him when he shot Matthew, bassicacly overall treated him).

If you saved Pete: Nick will ask Clementine to remind him how Pete went out and Clementine will say Pete distracted walkers for him. Nick gets up and tells the group to leave and Nick then distracts the walkers.

If you saved Nick and he saved you: Nick will ask Clementine to remember the time they were trapped in the shed, Clementine says yes and then Nick distracts the walkers again.

If you saved Nick and he didn't save you: Nick will ask Clementine to remember the time they were trapped in the shed, Clementine says yes and then Nick tells him "This time you have to leave me here to die". Then he slumps along the wall and is left there to die, as the group leaves.
  • He should die in natural way ;)

No...No chances? Any hope? Fat chance...? Ah, fuck you guys, you'll see he'll die from natural way.
  • Luke could show up earlier and help the group fight them off while one or two of them get Rebecca to safety, making for a slightly more difficult battle because Nick isn't distracting them and giving the player an extra QTE or two. As for why Luke would get there earlier if Nick was already dead, he could be concerned about the lack of manpower on hand to defend against walkers and decides to come back early due to worry. If Nick is alive, then he thinks that the group would be okay for him to do whatever he's doing before he gets back.

  • Nick's in his mid-20s. I'd be very hard-pressed to believe he's still a virgin. There had to have been at least ONE summer carnival where he drove a gal with a bad perm to make out point and asked if she wanted to do "hand stuff" while 'Crazy Bitch' by Buckcherry played on the radio.

I see you didn't talk to him after the bridge, you actually get the bonding if you talk to him.

  • I think he's survived for the same length as Carley/Doug did (so far).

I think a good end for Nick (because he's determinant) would be if he sacrificed himself for the group. I think he deserves a tragic/heroic death just like Alvin got. I can also see him getting a sudden death like Carley/Doug or even a tragic death like Ben (where someone like Luke would have to end Nick's life just as Ken did for Ben).
  • Maybe Luke will mention him in ep. 4 or maybe he asked about him off screen if Nick died (determinately)

  • Nick is the longest surviving detriment character? What about Carly/Doug? Sure, they only last until episode 3, but they are available to die in episode 1. Nick can't die until episode 2, so just cause he makes it to 4 doesn't mean much. He has to make it THROUGH 4 to win that title.

lol 'Crazy Bitch' on the radio, aw Nick.

I dunno it's just a little joke I got on him, I don't know if it's true or not. I just see him as the kinda guy who'd have a couple playboys hidden under his bed XD would be cute if Telltale ever mentioned anything about dating at a carnival, or about any chicks he really digged.

Sooo, you think Nick would be goofy enough to try the yawning 'arm over the shoulder' routine?

Or perhaps if he's alive someone else dies, and if he's dead that person lives... making him counteract that person like Carley/Doug, giving him a greater chance of survival...I don't know I'm grasping at straws here.

Or maybe if nick died the walkers would kill Jane or mike or something? And if he lived then they would all survive.

  • Nick already died on my file.
  • Probably. I can't imagine this guy being anything but painfully awkward. He probably cried a little bit at the end.

  • He should sacrifice himself for someone, granting his wish for becoming a hero like Luke
  • Alvin was a selfish idiot. He wanted revenge and died leaving Rebecca now alone.
