Episode 3 is a disappointment

www.gamecritics.com/brad-gallaway/the-walking-dead-season-two-in-harms-way-review

"As someone who couldn't wait for each new episode of the first season, it's incredibly disappointing to see this new series falling so wide of the mark. Of course, following such a phenomenal work is no easy feat, but this stuff hasn't even been in the ballpark. I was ready to forgive a couple of rough episodes as long as things got rolling by the midpoint, but with only two installments left, it seems unlikely that The Walking Dead, Season Two will be able to muster anything that season one didn't already do better"

I'm just sick of all the criticism of "Season 2 being a failure" and Episode 3 and so on. So please: Shut the fuck up! We all know it was pretty bad! But we don't need to be reminded and re-fucking-reminded everyday!

I am a big fan of season 2 but episode 3 was a huge letdown

All that remains was a decent start to the season
A house divided is my favourite episode of both seasons
    Episode 3........It was okay

I explained in other threads why I did not enjoy this episode

This is just my opinion so do not take seriously
  • If you don't like it then leave. Maybe if Telltale saw that people were leaving, and no longer buying the game then they would step up their game. But no. People like you stick around the forum whining, complaining, and insulting Telltale. People like you are beginning to disgust me. I have seen so many people like you just saying this game is bad and getting worse. Well why are you still here? Go email Telltale, leave the forum, or stop playing the game! I like it just the way it is, so I'm staying. If you and other people can't accept how Telltale is making their games now then I don't see why you continue to play it. Go ahead and keep on buying saying its a waste of money. Your only cheating yourself.
  • My opinion is that season 2 is not and probably will not be better than season 1 ,but that dosnt limit it to being a bad game, season 2 is not over yet so they can go in different directions, everyone has their own opinion so I respect that but just DON'T JUDGE TILL THE GAME IS OVER
  • Episode 3 was damn amazing. The story was brilliant and I actually felt shocked, scared, and happy at particular moments in the game. In my eyes it was clearly one of the best episodes ever made.

Nah. There were missed opportunities and lost potential, but that doesn't make the episodes bad at all.

Huge difference between something being "disappointing" and something being "bad".

Disappointing: Something that falls short of an individuals expectation.

Bad: Something that is not enjoyable because of poor quality.

The episode was not bad at all, it simply could have been better. Don't judge a game based on what they could have done, you base it on what is there.
  • It was a good episode to me too ,but some people think different but it's their opinion, (don't make me get the saltlicks out!)

I agree, I wouldn't call S2 bad, per se. I am enjoying playing it, but when it's such a stepdown from S1, too shallow in general, and wasting so much of its potential thus far, how are we not supposed to judge based on what they could have done, when they've already done it in S1 and just aren't/won't/etc. doing it again?

I also think episode 3 is being criticized more sharply because this episode's set-up in particular was so rich but then so barely explored, and it marks the crossing of the halfway point, which mean those hoping the majority of the season would be comparable to S1 are officially SOL now.

  • No I do not.

Look, I'm not usually ever like this. At all. It takes a lot for me to get pissy. I'm sorry if I sound like an asshole, I'm just SO fed up with these threads.

    So, yeah. Apologies.

And how would you know? Do you speak for Telltale?

  • Episode 3's quality was so poor that it confirms there's going to be a lot more seasons.(I don't see them ending Clem's story after just sticking around with a dogshit group of crippled fucks)

No matter how hard you try you can never satisfy everyone.
  • He at no point insulted Telltale bra all he did was put up a review and said he agreed with it.

Thanks :). Your profile pic is... nice?

  • I'm apparently one of the very few people who actually really enjoyed this episode ;-; it was pretty exciting and fun imo...

Of course not. Everyone has different opinions and tastes and what they like, etc. It is impossible to satisfy everyone. And I'm sure Telltale realises that.

No matter how hard you try you can never satisfy everyone.

  • Season 1 satisfied many and as a sequel you would think Season 2 will improve but instead it took a step backwards.

No matter how hard you try you can never satisfy everyone.

  • It wasn't a BIG disappointment to me...but I hope TellTale improves on the next episode...
  • So its not insulting if you agree that a game is disappointing? I would feel pretty insulted if somebody said something I made was disappointing. He/she are basically saying what you did was not as good as they thought it would be. How do you feel when people are disappointed in you? I don't know about you but I feel insulted, and feel like shit.

Sorry if I came too hard on you guys but its just getting annoying. And it didn't have to be him in particular that was insulting but some other users that were posting threads about how bad episode 3 was, and how its just getting worse etc.

He at no point insulted Telltale bra all he did was put up a review and said he agreed with it.

  • No I kinda enjoy it too

  • Only thing I don't like is the fact we didn't even have a choice to save Reggie :/. Also how we didn't get to converse with the 400 days characters except Bonnie. The 400 days cast better be back in 204 or 400 days was just a waste lol. I told Carver my name was Carley on my bad file and he didn't even mention it. He just called me Clem. Also I didn't side with Nate on Russel's story on my good file. Russel said he has an issue with trusting people but still went to the camp. So if he didn't trust people why would TT make him a bad guy? How the hell did Luke even get in the community without being seen. Luke never explains this. I like season 2 but there are plenty of unanswered questions. We also should have gotten a choice to have Jane kill Troy or not. Decision making in 203 is 79% C. I also wanted a choice to save Walter. If 204 or 205 isn't as good then TWAU will take it's place for GOTY. My score for TWD 2 is an 8.9/10 so far
  • You as an artist or whatever should be comfortable taking criticism it comes with the job of creating new things so if TTG cant deal with a little bit of criticism then I'm guessing they picked the wrong major.

Exactly. When something is created, the creator knows that there will be people who criticise his work and that person needs to hear that feedback so he can improve on the next thing he creates. Even if it goes beyond criticism, the creator has to take it in his stride. That's just life.

  • Criticism is fine. But its come to a point where 1/4 of the threads have been about how disappointing, and bad, this episode has been. I feel its being taken too far. Like okay, we get it, now can we move on?

The main thing for me though is taking action. If people hate the game so much then leave, or file a complaint. Don't sit around here and whine. I doubt Telltale is observing this forum, so instead of telling the world why your disappointed in the game, confront the makers to change it.

I don't see why people even continue playing if they keep on saying its disappointing, or bad, and getting worse.

If you don't like it, don't buy it!

  • Nobody rushed them if you're talking about those post that said they were taking to long to release an episode then I wouldn't count that as rushing. TTG doesn't listen to the community so why would that be the only thing they would listen to us about the decisions of rushing the game is not our fault its their fault as they as the developer should be like "oh the episode needs more time so we will continue to improve on it and keep our community updated on what's the situation." THATS what people wanted they didn't want rushed episodes.

  • I completely stand by the fact that episode three wasn't amazing... but episode one and two were fantastic. Yes, one bad episode can ruin the entire thing, but there's still a chance for the story to get better "Nothing has changed has it?"
