Was the song that Sarita was humming in the ski lodge a foreshadowing of the future?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
"Good King Wenscelas" is thr song sarita was humming in the lodge, and it is about a king and his servant enduring the hardships of giving to the poor during a terrible snowstorm. Sarita says that there is a part in thr song where the servant cannot continue, and the king says "step in my tracks" and that his blood would not freeze as boldly. Could this be a prediction of the last episode? Kenny could be the servant, unwilling to keep moving on, and Clementine could be the king, edging him to continue. What do you think?

    This. Is. DEEP
  • I definitely think that foreshadowed SOMETHING. I do like your theory here!

  • when i played the episode, i also thought it was foreshadowing something, but now i think that it was foreshadowing episode 3, the servants being the group, willing to escape from the compound, and the king being carver, pushing them to pursue
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure the group walks into some kind of storm when heading to Wellington. And one of the members tells the others to go on for some reason. Maybe dying? Anyway I'm sure this whole song and it's story would be mimicked when we reach Episode 5. It could even be the ending. Probably.

Could it be Kenny sacrificing himself??

  • Not many people get to sacrifice themselves twice....

''We shouldn't get to Wellington!'' give me that dialouge choice Telltale! Please? [Sad Eyes] I mean am I the one only one here thinks that Wellington plan is going to blow up in our hands?
  • Hm... I never think of predictions when playing, wish I did. My mind is all ways set on seeing what happens and enjoying it.

  • What if Sarah is the servant?
  • I perceived it as Clementine was the servant in that episode who was led by the cabin group (King) through the storm. Clementine met Kenny because of them, but she is also being pursued by a psycho because of them. Thus why Sarah says, "Well what if the King never brought him out there, yada yada..."
  • Holy shit you're genious
  • I hadn't thought of this, but you're right. I obviously means something because TTG love foreshadowing. But I'm not sure if it means what you think. It's probably impossible to guess until we actually see what they wanted to foreshadow.

What I though just now is that it could talk about Carver. The King was doing a charitable thing, which would supposedly make him good, but Sarah mentions that the servant was forced to go with him and that's not a good thing. Maybe Carver's the King and Clem's group is the servant, being dragged by a stronger man to do something they never wanted to do. Carver's intentions were arguably good, but his means to an end hurt a lot of people.
  • I think that we thing its all good, but then when they get there, its all just one HUGE death trap.

  • To follow up on your idea, as now Carver is gone and he did say that Clementine is more alike him than she thinks, therefore it looks like
    Clementine adopts the 'King' position.

  • I posted a thread about this exact same topic a while ago. Good to see other people are finally picking up on it.
  • Her and Sarah's conversation and singing was the most amount of background dialogue I've ever heard in a video game.

I just realized something, this actually foreshadows the ending of Episode 3. The storm in the song is the walker herd; hence the achievement Eye of the Storm. The King is Carlos and the Servant is Sarah. Think about it, in the song the servant follows the King's tracks until servant must go on ahead. In the ending of Ep3, Sarah was following Carlos' tracks while behind him, until he could not go any further and Sarah has to go ahead too, hence when she ran away. To support this, the song Sarita mentioned was directly explained to Sarah herself. So this means it's not related to Clem, but to Sarah and Carlos.
  • Interesting theory. It definitely seemed significant at the time, especially because Sarita explains the meaning of the song to Sarah. I love that Christmas carol, by the way, it's one of my favorites. I'm going to have to look at the full lyrics (there are a good amount of verses if I remember correctly) now that you've brought it up to find any clues. I will add them if I find any.

I also had a similar theory that i posted on a old thread and i included a video of that scene, here it is again if anyone wants a reminder of it www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxI51FDaKzk

Telltale like foreshadowing so it seems like something that they would do, maybe there will be a big snowstorm in episode 5 like we see in the slide..
  • I think both you guys hit the nail on the head! Take my likes.

  • a tough choice for me would be leaving Kenny or Sarah,if it came to something like that to get to Wellington, hopefully we get the option of carrying them xD
