The first time there's EVER been a female majority group.
For the first time playing as clem or lee, we have now had a group where the majority of its members are female.
Until now, all groups in the main game (defining group as one where there are four or more members) have ALWAYS had more men than women, which is unrealistic.
The Farm group, more men. The Drug store group, more men. The Dairy, more men. The group who enter Savannah from the train, more men. The cancer survivors, more men.
I know lots of people are going to dislike this for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, however I think it's big that for the first time ever in the game, we have more women characters than men, because in the past this has NEVER been the case, and that's unrealistic.
I'm sure some will say 'oh well women are more likely to die because they are physically less able', but the walking dead disagrees with you because there are more male walkers than female ones: clearly more men are dying than women, making the situations even less unlikely to always be the case.
Some groups got it really good: The 400 days group right at the end had 3 females and 3 males. But I don't think Tavia really counts as a group member, so it was still the case that there was yet to be a female majority.
Anyway, now we have:
Women: 5 (6)
Clem,
(Sarah),
Rebecca,
Jane,
Sarita,
Bonnie
Men: 3 (4)
Kenny,
Luke,
(Nick),
Mike
To clarify, I don't WANT groups specifically to have more women than men, or men than women. I don't mind that much, as long as it was fairly random. However, all groups before now had more males, and that doesn't really seem like a 'random' occurrence.
Say what you will, but I find it somewhat relieving that the writers are finally being more realistic in the make up of their groups: some should have more men, some should have more women. Not all should have more men, and not all should have more women.
Thanks for reading, and lay those downvotes on me

EDIT: Cleaned up my horrific punctuation.
This is interesting O_o...I haven't really noticed before the Male to female ratio in the game
Have a thumbs up
don't forget, the baby might be a girl. ^-^
It might be a boy too
I can't speak for season 2 yet, as it isn't over, but in season 1 overall there were twice as many men as there were women for no apparent reason, so it's reassuring that they seem to be moving away from that
true, but I think its a girl. mainly because Rebecca's been calling it a 'she' and Alvin's hunch said a girl. idk I think there hinting it to be a girl.
Are you doubting Big Al's baby gender foretelling skills?!
How dare you.
That';s true, but to be honest they have no way of knowing
If it's a boy I'm naming it alvin if I can
haha
It's gonna be a girl and I'm gonna call her Christa! ~
Then when we reunite with adult Christa she can be like...
"Why'd you name her Christa? I'm Christa! I don't wanna call her Christa, it's just weird..."
Like when she was picking baby names with Omid xD
Last time I made a thread like this, where I pointed out the unrealistic lack of females in season 1, I got like 50 downvotes
"Lay those down votes on me "
starts getting upvotes
Damn.
Never noticed that before. And take my upvote, Let's see how many people cannot read descriptions....
Damn.
The internet is not a fan of opinions.
Never has been, never will XD
^-^ I wana name it lee. umm or bromid. xD
xD THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN
I'm so scared Christa's dead though
TTG most likely didn't do it on purpose it's just a coincidence.
But in a sense that's even better:
I bet in season 1 they didn't make there be twice as many men as women on purpose, they just did it instinctively, which is bad. The fact that they have now done the opposite means that their minds might be becoming less biased towards male characters.
Or rather it won't as it shouldn't make any difference
Or, rather, opinions that are "unpopular".
Truth! XD
Ehhh I think you're taking this a bit too serious lol. :P
no no no no no no no no no no no on on on no no no no don't say that!! shes not dead!
If you don't think women are less physically capable than men, you're wrong. That factor doesn't affect the survival rate of them much in my opinion.
Not currently, no.
But again, they'll just make plans like the men would, that's the point.
How the men might react is a more valid point, although it looks like Kenny might be leading this group, god help us...although he's not his strongest at the moment, nor is Luke, although he seems to be getting better. Maybe it's time for the first female leader since Lilly? Someone like Bonnie might be good for it. I would say Jane but she seems too independent.
Actually, maybe there doesn't even need to be a leader anyway.
Not really, I mean looking at the type of characters they put in a game designed to appeal to a majority can tell us a lot about society's opinions on things and the company's opinions etc.
I don't think that was what he was saying friendo.....
But take my upvote anyways.
Umm yah,okay. O_o
But...but it can, seriously!
Like if a company only had white people and literally no black or asian people, would you not think that the company was slightly biased in some way?
Or if a company refused to have any straight people and only gay people, would you not make assumptions about the views of the people making the game?
Yeah, but it could have been interpreted that way.
That is generally the case, I don't deny that, but not always the case. I bet Molly is much more physically able than Doug, for example.
And, as I said, more men have died in the zombie outbreak because there are more male walkers than female ones, so clearly, as you correctly say, it's not factoring into their survival rates.
As a result of this, i's pointless to generalise like that
Wherever Wellington is
I live in the UK so my US geography sucks
Hopefully like in the truck and around the camp fire, people will rein in Kenny's rasher plans. I mean, they already got Walt and arguably Carlos killed and arguably Sarita bitten, so we don't need any more like that
Ok I get what you're saying. But you're overestimating it dude.I'm guessin TTG dosen't even care about sexuality, they had great s1 women, for Christs sake they made they're s2 protagonist an 11 year old girl so how is that bias?I just think it's a coincidence on what gender is uneven in the groups.ALL OF IT IS A COINCIDENCE.Now go ahead and counter what I just said so just do it. :P
I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm getting at.
I'm not saying the PRESENTATION of women is bad, I'm saying they were GROSSLY underrepresented.
It just CAN'T be a co-incidence that in EVERY SINGLE group in season 1 there is more men than women. That's just way too often to be coincidental.
The same with regard to the fact that there were 16 males and 8 females, when we know more women are alive. That just makes NO sense.
Telltale's really stepped up their diversity game this season. There's a lot more women interacting with/holding conversations with other women, which is a rarity in video games and was barely existent in season 1. And yeah, like you said, the group is female-dominated now.
It's clear to me that Telltale makes an active effort to be more diverse with their characters and it hasn't gone unnoticed. I and a lot of other fans really appreciate that.
Dude you're still overthinking it...it's not that big of a deal.
Flog61 is taking it seriously because it's a serious issue. I'm going to go ahead and assume you're a guy. You're automatically represented all the time in video games so you don't really get what it's like to constantly view yourself as the minority--or when you are in the game, you're oversexualized or you're the damsel in distress.
The fact that Telltale has complex, racially diverse, nonsexualized women and they're the MAJORITY means so much to female fans. This is really, really important.
