What if cutting off your arm in 105 caused something else to happen?

Okay, so I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

Let's say you DO cut off your arm in 105. You progress through the entire episode, handicapped. But, it worked. The effects of the bite are no longer in your system. You arrive at the Marsh House, still not bitten, and enter the Stranger's room. Everything plays out the same, up until the fight. Clem, rather than coming out, stays in the closet. While the Stranger is talking to the head in the bag, Lee tackles him, and the fight scene progresses normally. Once you are at the point where you are choking him, your one-armedness matters, and you are incapable of killing him. He pushes you on the ground and grabs the gun. Just as he is about to shoot you, Clem pops out, surprising him, so he shoots her in the gut. In shock, he stands there, and drops the gun. You pick it up and shoot him instantly. As that happens, Clem is sprawled out on the ground, bleeding profusely. Holding her in your one arm, you can talk to her for about the same amount of time as the final scene after the walker is killed in the jewelry store. After that, she dies, and you are left with the choice to stop her from turning or to leave.

Edit: For extra feels, I decided to add some dialogue.

Clem is coughing and crying, wincing in pain from the wound

"Hey there, sweetpea. Don't you worry, everything is gonna be ok. You're gonna be fine. I got your walkie-talkie right here, see?"

You lay Clementine down for a second, pull the walkie out, and give it to her

"L-lee, did you ever find my parents?"

"They're in a much better place than here, Clem. We'll find them. You'll find them. I know it."

"Lee..."

"What is it Clementine?"

"You made a good daddy. Stay lucky..."

Clem's eyes shut, and her body slumps over. You can't bring yourself to shoot her, so you walk outside the room and out to the herd.

You walk outside and get in the Stranger's car, hoping to get some rest.

A few hours later, you awaken, distressed by gunshot noises in the distance. You exit the car, and walk into the herd, maddened by the fact that they can't see you. About halfway towards the docks, you notice three particular walkers in the herd. Clementine, and two older walkers that remind you of the people you saw in a picture at her house. Unable to handle yourself, you fall to your knees in the herd, letting out a loud yell before the screen cuts to black.

I don't usually do this but...

NO! THEY CAN'T KILL CLEMENTINE. CLEMENTINE LIVES FOREVER, SHE WILL NEVER DIE. I DON'T LIKE THIS IDEA >.<

Seriously. I wouldn't want them to kill a little girl, that would just be too much.

  • This was just my idea as to what would be a very feely closure for Season 1 that would leave no room for continuation of either Lee or Clem, as who survived would be completely up to that decision about the arm. The main reason I didn't cut off my arm in 105 was because I thought something like this might happen, and that I would not be able to save Clem because of my handicap.

"Just look at the flowers, Clem.."

But serioisly, absolutely NOT, it wouldn't be cool at all.

  • I know, I'm sorry about that :). It's just I wouldn't want Telltale to kill Clementine especially since she's eight years old. Sure that outcome could happen realistically, but not many would like it. I'm not sure anybody would like that ending, it would be even worse then Lee's and we all know how depressing that was. Why would Stranger shoot her though if she knew she was there?

  • Oh god the feels.

You must hate everything good to write this man, you sadistic person. Making us feel n shit.

  • If you were full of rage, about to pull the trigger, and something pops right in front of what you're about to shoot, would you stop in that millisecond? Remember, where Lee had Stranger choked up was on opposite sides with the door. If Lee was thrown back, and fell on the ground, he'd be very close to the closet Clem was in.

I know, I'm sorry about that . It's just I wouldn't want Telltale to kill Clementine especially since she's eight years old. Sure that outco

  • Maybe I'm just numb to Lee feels at this point. After having played Season 1 so many times, and having played 105's last scene over and over, I've become desensitized to the feels. Maybe I'm a heartless monster, but I can't control what gives me feels and what doesn't.

He would kind of be pulling a Michelle :O.

  • you got a tastenfor it man...... you need help

Maybe I'm just numb to Lee feels at this point. After having played Season 1 so many times, and having played 105's last scene over and over

  • how dare you.

  • I probably should have expected everyone to hate me for this.

Note: I am probably not a sadistic monster, nor is Telltale. As this ending would have made Season 2 with Clem impossible, I would not want it. If Telltale wanted, they could have made a game about sunshine and rainbows instead of pain and sorrow, but which one would have made for a better story?

  • Wow..... That was very heartbreaking to read i think if TTG would of made that the ending i think it would of won Game of All Ages.

  • I agree with Chuck. That'd just about do me in.

  • I updated it the OP post with some dialogue, in case it wasn't feely enough.

...why wouldn't she come out of the room and attack the Stranger if Lee cut his arm off? Is she bust looking for Lee's missing hand?

  • You sick son of a bitch.

  • Well, there is the possibility that she couldn't use magic to get the rope undone, and that the fight undid it, or that she just didn't want to come out because she was scared. It's still a "what if" not a "this should have happened instead".

  • I don't see a need for that.

You sick son of a bitch.

  • I don't wan this to happen, cuz you know. clem clem cant die.

but I like that you shared this. put me through a feels train.

  • I may have over reacted. I just wasn't ready for these feels today ;_;

    I don't see a need for that.

  • It's okay man. No harm done.

    I may have over reacted. I just wasn't ready for these feels today ;_;

  • Eh, I'm glad some people aren't afraid to feel this way. Honestly, if Clem had died, it still would have made a sad ending, but maybe even sadder as it ended with not knowing whether Lee survived(though if the arm wasn't cut off, the original route).

What makes any game, book, show, etc. powerful is when they leap beyond the usual, and turn it into something more. Telltale threw many punches in Season 1, and though not as good, some in Season 2. If they decide to kill Clem, it'd be fine by me. I'd be upset, and maybe deny it for awhile like I did when Lee died, but if it makes for a good and believable story that can live up to the predecessor, then I say go for it.

  • Nice writing, short but powerful.
But if this scene was true... Well, let's say that if my strength was equal as the feels released during this scene, I would be able to turn into super sayen, or a titan, or a God.

  • Well thanks jerk for making feel depressed

  • What they should of done.... If you save Pete there should of been a choice from season 1 that affected the situation. If you cut Lee's arm then Clementine would say that cutting it wont work. If you didn't, Clementine would of told Pete to give it a try,

Some people just want to see the world burn...

I'm kidding. I thought about something like this as S1's ending. Except Clem reanimated, Lee finds her walker-parents, and having lost all hope, Lee sets her down with her parents and the camera fades to black as Lee stops moving while Clem and her parents walk towards him.

    That was a horrible night...

Anyway, if you combine this with your idea, we might just get jobs at TellTale. Maybe get signed up to work on an AU DLC.

  • I swear, I might just study graphical design or something just to get a job at Telltale. Imagine getting to work on these games we all go insane for.

    That would be the best.

  • Why would the stranger shoot Clementine, seems a bit far fetched. In his mind he was trying to save her, but who knows.

Damn... this almost got me crying all over. It would hit me harder than Sarah's death in The Last of Us...

  • This is like the beginning of The Last of Us but much sadder

  • Of course it would. We only knew Sarah for like 10 minutes while we've known Clementine for like 10 hours

  • no,no I don't hate you for it ^.^ i was just joking, don't worry about it. Honestly, I reaaaally wouldn't feel right if Clem died, but if she did, I would want her to die in a heroic way. I was hoping that "Clementine pops out" means that she tried to distract the Stranger so she could save Lee's life and stop him from being shot. And what would be better, is if she jumped in front of Lee and took the bullet herself. BUT THEN AGAIN, I would be really sad if Clem died, so either way, I'm glad it didn't go down like this.

I probably should have expected everyone to hate me for this. Note: I am probably not a sadistic monster, nor is Telltale. As this ending

  • I yet again updated the OP post, inspired by Conduit42.

  • The Stranger did say if Clementine chose to leave with Lee he'd shoot both of them.

    Lee: Just let us go!

Stranger: I'd rather kill her myself. Because that's what'll happen if she leaves with you.

  • That's... incredibly sad. But It would have been almost as emotional as Lee's death.
