I'm starting to get pissed... [RANT]

This is a rant thread…

So I make a thread with a rational discussion about Bill Carver. I make the contents, post it, wait for comments… none come through. I go to see the Telltale Community front page, and it’s not there. Literally thirty seconds have past and it’s already the last thread on the front page. Guess what bumped it down?

Fanfic threads.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind them, and I think it’s nice, but when there’s literally FIVE of them taking up space on the front page, constantly bumping down ANY rational discussion that spawns! When fanfic threads are more popular than actual discussion, it’s time to move them… but they stay put and continue taking up space for any ACTUAL discussion that goes on about the game! It’s pissing me off!

Mods, this part is me being mad at you for a little bit. You moved the Meme and Fun thread, OK, fine, you do that… but that Meme and Fun thread is WAY MORE justified in being in The Walking Dead discussions than five f**king fanfic threads. May as well change the name from “Walking Dead” to “Walking Fanfics”. Move them! I should NOT have to continue bumping my thread and fighting to get at least two comments in it! That is total BS! It would still have been on the front page and actually noticed if it wasn’t for so many God damned fanfic threads!

Let’s not mention the threads BASED ON THE FANFIC THREADS!!! Threads based on threads? Where no discussion but pointless memes and gifs goes on in there? Are you kidding?

Therefore, I propose that all fanfic threads that have been up in a certain topic for a few days to be moved in the Forum Games, no matter what the fanfic is about. This way, rational discussions actually have a chance to get noticed and fanfic threads that have been up for a certain amount of time cannot take up space anymore.

  • Yes, I realize that my discussion is now being talked about, but that doesn't change the fact that I had to fight and fight to get it noticed. Not all thread creators will be as lucky as I am. I shouldn't have to bump my thread thirty seconds after posting.

  • Well whatever, if people wanna do fanfics let them, most of them are shit with bad writing but let them do it if they want.

  • It's about where they are, not if they are done or not.

  • I think I solved your problems.

All fan fic threads have been relocated to Forum Games, and I made a sticky thread where users can link to their fan fics over at the Walking Dead section.

    ignore

  • I agree with you too much fanfics at one place, they get annoying after a certain time because they take space usually have nothing to do with the TWD.

  • completely agree and i'm glad something has been done

  • I was busy playing Rust. I do apologize for not commenting on your thread, i did not see it. If you wish for me to comment on it now, i will do so, just provide a link.

MY GREATEST APOLOGIES TO THE OTHER FAN-FIC CREATORS. I kinda feel like an outcast now that I'm lone survivor of the created fan-fics. Now I'll be the only one in the TWD section that'll even have a fan-fic thread.... I don't really feel that lucky. Everyone should get the same attention cuz what if they might get noticed as well by big shots. I don't want to be hated for being the only one not moved. I wouldn't want to be alone on this journey. They deserve to be kept in the same place where the belong or Telltale should make a fan-fic section on the forum if they wont allow to put them back. Either way, I am....

    THE LAST OF US.

Now I feel like a dick, but you know, it's for the betterment of the forum. It's been pissing me off.

It had to be done. There was an overwhelming amount of fanfics, probably twelve I counted. It needed to be moved to a place that can contain them, and TWD forum was not the place. It was starting to get worse than bot ads.

  • i technically agree with you, i would frequent this forum less and less, because of the stiffing Fac Fiction Posts. I been hanging out on the Steam Forums, tons of fun there. Time to get banned again from the Rome 2 forums!

  • So you want to not see other forums so your forum will get attention. That's what it sounds like to me.
My forums have been bumped by Fanfictions but I don't complain because they're getting bumped for a good reason, Fanfictions are really popular now. If a majority of people like Fanfictions then I think it should stay.

  • It's a problem when fan fiction blocks out legitimate discussion.

It wasn't the fan fiction I had a problem with, it was the quantity of threads.

  • Any chance they could get their own sub forum or is that too much work?

Why would I want my reasonable discussion bumped down by what may as well be advertisements? This is a forum about the Walking Dead GAME, not fanfics. Fanfics, in it's great numbers, overwhelm the actual mission of this forum: to discuss the game.

If more discussion of people's stories go on than the actual game, there is a problem. The Forum Games is the most logical place to put them so we are able to keep them under control... until this layout get's better.

You're not going to kill my character off early for this?

Perhaps you forgot I'm partially insane, hence the mood swings.

Eh, I dunno. I am little cuz it would hurt the other threads and possibly lead to me being hated on. I did notice less visitors in my thread since this happened. But at the same time I understand how the fan-fics were increasing. I thought about it. But there isn't that many compared to the majority of the forum. I would like them to stay but at the same time I could understand. I just feel like an outcast now though since I'm the only one not moved.

And if I were to kill you off early for personal reasons I would truly be a troll and it would affect my story.

Hmm maybe we should have a section solely for fan-fics and have it visible for everyone to see. I should make a thread about this idea.

Seriously, you're not mad at me are you? You're not going to kill my character off early for this?

  • Then why can't you limit the amount of Fanfictions.

Because then it isn't fair for the ones who DO want to make a fanfiction. Your fanfic get's in, it's okay, but when other people can't post a fanfic, they will rant as well.

It's more fair this way than having only a select few get popular because of it's place on the forum and the rest go to sh*t.

  • They are getting bumped because people have random, off topic dicussions in them.

If a majority of people like a troll thread, should we keep it? No; because it takes up space. It usually has nothing to do with the game. Fanfics, despite popularity, disregard any other thread from having a chance because people post so many gifs and memes in them (because really its the only place they can). I want to hear people opinions about the topic I made, not have nonsense conversation in a fanfic thread.

I've had enough of that nonsense. I had enough of fighting to keep my thread alive just because prefer to f**k around rather than discuss the game. I'm tired of the excuses by fanfic creators to get their fanfics more popular (sorry, but half the time its true).
