  • I'm Australian, and our team is probably fucked. We got put in another shitty group with Holland Chile and Spain. So we are fucked if we don't beat Chile in the opening round.

  • Yeah that's a tough group maybe australia will shock everyone and get out the group they have a few good young players

Well we're playing Croatia at what will be around 9:00 Am here in Australia, and that game will give people an idea about what to expect. That and the first game against Chile are vital. If we'd even done OK against Germany in 2010 then we might have gotten a bit farther (it was our first game and Germany beat us 4-0).

  • Not limited to it but yeah,

    Are you referring to Australia?

  • I'm English, but we're going to get slaughtered by Italy and Uruguay... Costa Rica might be easy though.

I lived in Australia for two years before so I'm going to be supporting the Socceroos through it too! Although Spain will probably destroy them :L

  • I think england will finish 2nd behind uruguay. Italy have a good young squad but i fancy england to do better than people expect

  • Really? I suppose if Rooney and Sturridge can actually work together we stand a chance!

I'm curious, are you guys coming here to Brazil to watch the World Cup?

  • I'm American soooo.... Football (we call it soccer) isn't a popular sport to most Americans but I love it! Unfortunately, my knees can't handle another soccer game -_-. Anyways, I hope United States wins, but let's be honest, they are gonna get rocked by Portugal and probably lose to Ghana.

No I would like to visit Brazil one day (under different circumstances). Are you happy the world cup is in Brazil or are you against it ?

  • Everyone seems to be really pissed about the World Cup in Brazil. The gorvenment spent a lot of money to support it, and the people are protesting because we don't have good hospitals, education, etc. I think it is, sometimes, exagerated, but we we do need better education and health.

  • Yeah the media always exagerate and put a negative spin on worldwide events but there seems to be a lot of corruption from the government and fifa but hopefully its a good world cup. What part of Brazil are you from ?

  • Bahia de Todos os Santos, or All Saints' Bay in english. And yeah, the media really fucks up with our image. For you, gringos, we all like samba and soccer, and all the women are wearing short clothes. Have you seen some of the songs and videos? Some of them are really offensive.

  • Probably, I never watched it's clip. But I know there's a video where a woman starts dancing naked or almost naked, I don't know. If THAT's what the media wants to show the others about Brazil, so be it. I'm fucking done.

  • Yeah i suppose it is doubtful but anything can happen America might beat Ghana in their first game draw with either Germany or Portugal and make it out with 4 points

  • We always had these problems on our country, some of us always complained about it; but most of the people began to protest during the Confederations Cup (and curiously near the presidential elections).

    Seems fishy for me.

My dad says the same thing. It's a strategy to get PT outta the government, and PT's been helping a lot since Lula became president.

  • Politics is so f*cked up here (and probably on the rest of the world too)...

I'm just going to focus my mind on the World Cup and try to forget all these problems, I worry too much
