All those thick accented Russians who showed no signs of Americanism??? Unlikely. I doubt they're gangsters too because members of the Sicilian Mafia have American accents and don't constantly speak in Italian ( in fact, many are Italian American). They were probably terrorist.
I live in Oregon, along the coast is a very large population of Russians from the old Whaling industry so the fact that their may be Russian… mores living across America doesnt mean they are spies or terrorist's. They could simply be another community of survivors doing what they must to survive. Wouldnt you agree that people of a certain culture would band together to survive a world-wide apocalypse? People who understand the same language and beliefs? The way I saw it, other than the language barrier, they were just people doing what they have to.
As far as i know almost ALL americans are in fact immigrants or at least immigrants descendants... And a lot of them is hypocrites enough to be angry at newcomers, for intruding "their" country and stealing their jobs xD
Well maybe, but I don't think Arvo was a terrorist. He seems a bit kind-hearted to be honest. Maybe not the nicest person, I mean he was okay with robbing from the group, but I don't think he was a terrorist. Plus, he's a bit wimpy... Maybe he was a man who moved to america, got cornered by the terrorists and talked them into leaving him alive if they took him into the group.

XD Do you consider even the humans that crossed the Bering Strait to be immigrants as well? Most people classify Native Americans as non-immigrants. An amusing thought, though.

why the fuck are people making such a big deal of this?? there are Russians that live in this country that still speak Russian and have their accent. just ask someone at TT why Russian characters. imo they should've put a damn biker gang or something like the show, hell mofos with british accent, now thers a great villian
I suppose I should correct myself. I called them gangsters because that's what everyone seems to be assuming; and it's not an unwarrented stereotype. However, these guys are most definitely not gangsters. If they were then Arvo wouldn't be in the group, unless that leg brace was a scam that he pulled to get people to part with their money/supplies. Considering how he was shaky when handling a gun I am assuming that he is definitely not a brilliant actor; and his leg is in fact, legitimately injured. That one lady doesn't seem like she would be a gangster either. She doesn't look Russian and I think it'd be way more realistic if she was fatter and older to be some mother who whipped her mafiozo children into shape or skinnier and younger so she could be a bad ass girlfriend. As for the last thug, his dialogue heavily implied that he didn't want to be there and that they should leave. He kept on repeating "There are too many of them" over and over again in the background during the last scene. A guy with no balls is definitely no gangster. Being outnumbered isn't something that would make an actual tough guy flinch. And so, the only one who seems like he might qualify for the title of gangster would actually be Burich.
Russians in general tend to be an aggressive people (historically, politically, socially). So they are in fact "normal" survivors. I suppose not normal in an American sense (or wherever you're from) but what matters is to their culture they are normal. Pushover isn't in their dictionary and it definitely isn't in their blood. That's why I called them Russian gangsters to begin with; but does it really matter that they actually aren't gangsters? That's just how people see them. I imagine very few people looked at them and considered them to be "normal."
There can be an ending without them handling the virus, it can also be a tragic or hopeful ending, maybe an ending that is open for interpretation.
Maybe the TV show can take it in another direction than the comics, I don't know, but in the comics the virus will never be cured or anything like that.
That's all well and good, and honestly what I prefer. But I also thought Kirkman said there was going to be an actual endgame planned? At le… moreast that's what I read about the tv show (and maybe the comics too?). If he never goes into what caused it, I can't imagine how they could solve the little problem of having the dead come back to life, even if society is otherwise back to normal. Not to mention, the characters deserve a fitting end to their arcs. Hmm going to google....
Edit: Duh, a virus caused it. facepalm They just haven't figured out how yet.
Here's the link about the emotional endgame: here And the main quote from it: “I would say ‘Yes’ [there is an end-game]. I actually don’t like spoiling myself on the comic. I read it as I go,” Gimple revealed.
“Robert’s offered to tell me the whole thing so I get general aspects of it. I know the emotional end game of the show but there’s practical aspects, I want to keep with the comic. W… [view original content]
Well in that case I'd think Arvo would just be very caring about children, and people's perceptions of others do change when children are introduced. They no longer looked like just a bunch of survivors, but a more caring group. And, he doesn't really have a grudge against Clem's group, especially if you actually chose not to rob him.

Maybe before the apocalypse they spoke english, but after 2 years of speaking to each other in their native language they forgot most of the language? I don't know, that's just my theory. (sorry if it was mentioned already)

It does seem like some sort of a gang though. That guy had some pretty insane tattoo's.
Argo is young, so if they were immigrants, he would've adopted and American accent and been fluent in English by now.
Nobody said he came when he was a child. He could've come in when he was old enough to keep his Russian accent.

Instead of throwing around with stereotypes and chlichés, could we get some guy traduce what the Russians were actually saying?

Lingvort made a thread about that

It's not that people are racist, from what I understand, they find it somewhat illogical.
So what even Sarita and Reggie were Indians..... y no say anything about them?
