I don't understand these people giving it a 7~8/10 and then pointing out the problems with the episode, of which there were many and made me feel like the writing was forced just so we could go on with the story: this episode basically nullifies your previous choices (saving nick, teaching sarah how to use a gun, cutting off sarita's hand, etc) and remains the same no matter what you choose even in the episode itself.
The personality flips also bothered me a lot. (Luke, Jane and Kenny, kind of).
Seriously, you guys are too nice with ratings. 9 is HIGH, 8 is more than 7 which is already above average.
To those who rate it 10:
Please, consider it this way: Was the episode really flawless? I for one am pretty sure it wasn't. Do the flaws matter so little that not even 1 point is subtracted? Do all the present issues really not make this episode NOT perfect?
If you've given it an 8 or 9, I just ask that you please reconsider whether the problems with the episode really count for so little.
Personally, and I know I'll get downvoted for this, I'd give this episode a 1/10: What I felt was that the story was forced upon us to make all of the players' stories converge so everyone would end up in the same situation: the conflict with Arvo's group. There were too many flaws in this episode, which made me unable to really appreciate it: The story became almost completely linear, there isn't even an illusion of choice anymore (e.g. Sarah dies no matter what and has a small relevance if saved); even the characters have been affected negatively by that mandatory convergence: Nick's random death scene and Kenny treating Clem like crap no matter what. And last, but not least, the way they made the characters change personality: they transformed Jane into a poor copy of Molly (survivalist with a hidden heart of gold that, in the end, prefers to remain alone), made Luke a flake and just plain annoying and the only characters that are still alive and somewhat likeable are Mike and Bonnie, of which we know almost nothing (especially Mike, who seems to be everyone's favorite now), and why? Because hubs have been dumped and the 'hubs' in this episode were simply a farce: I want to talk to people about their pasts and their feelings, not 'What next?' Remember speaking with Lilly at the drugstore? Or Katjaa at the train station? Remember Chuck? That's what I want back. The characters are being used as plot devices, more and more.
9/10 for me. As everyone already said, Nick's death sucked hard, but so did the character himself so it kinda fit him.
About Sarah, I don't understand why people is so upset about TTG way of dealing with her death. I liked it, not everyone is fit to survive and that was something we the players and Clem had to realise together. We were just being naive as in chapter one with Sam. I like how this is no epic story where everyone's death is meaningful and in slow motion.
As for the writting, I don't have any serious complaints, even though it could have been better. It's true that Jane is just Molly, but she serves a different purpose, and I think we will see her again in chapter 5 (like at the beginning, when she leaved Clem and Rebecca behind but ended up coming back).
The only thing I really didn't like was Sarita's fate and Kenny's way of blaming it all on Clem, even though it didn't make sense in some cases. Can't help but think that the last choice in chapter 3 was merely a cheap cliffhanger to keep our attention in an otherwise pretty dull chapter. That's how this things work, but it should never be so obvious.
In the end, TTG could screw it way harder and I would still be interested in season finale (and season 3). As long as Clem is involved.
I would give it a 9 or so. We finally got a little more control of Clem, instead of just being pushed from dialouge to dialouge. It felt kind of like I was playing season one again. The episode length was obviously an improvement. The writing was good. I don't understand why people are all upset with the death scenes. After being in the ZA for two years, I'm pretty sure people are not going to act so shocked and stunned every single time a person dies, unless that person was really close to them.
9.2... episode had me shaking the whole way through... Was Kenny going to forgive Clem or go suicidal? Plenty of character development and action, What else is the group going to run into? Will they fight? Will they argue? Who will die? Had so many questions running through my head while i was playing... Yes the determinant characters could of been done better but oh well.. this episode had more hubs, dialogue choices and exploration.. bring on episode 5!
I'd give ep4 a 8. It was the best one of this season, so far. I felt somewhat unsatisfied after i completed it, though. I can actually wait for episode 5. I couldn't say that about any of last year's episodes.
8/10. Because it is repeating itself. Robbing or not robbing like with Lee and the car and then Molly was a solid character who left like Jane who did the same.Everytime there is an innocent person you send them they come back with a crew and hunt you down. It is repeating itself and even though i will get a tons of dislike i think they should finish the game asap, i dont want it getting worse. Yes, this season was great so far but clearly they are having hard time to fill an entire episode.
ps:repeating is mostly for the season, episode was great.
I'd give it an 8.
For those raging about the fact that choices doesn't matter and that no matter what choices you've done, you end up with the same storyline, once again, your choices matter...on what Clementine is becoming.
Actually, I hope that we'll see in episode 5 the changes based on the choices you made on Clementine psyche.
And as in real life, the choices you made have no effect on what finally happens. You can learn a child to be careful when crossing a road, that doesn't mean he'll never get smashed by a car.
This applies too for The Walking Dead.
The first time i met Sarah, i was pretty sure she was "future-fresh-meat-for-zombies". And as previewed she died but the way she passes away lets you with good or bad conscience.
And furthermore, I prefer the fact that Sarah is unsaveable no matter the choices made then a character flip where Sarah becomes a girl with no comportmental problem that accepts easily the death of her father some hours before.
Some also argues about Jane being a second Molly. There is already a difference : she gave lessons to Clementine (and you could see the effects of these lessons on her and how she became more precious for her entourage) where Molly didin't give a thing.
So why only a 8...Just because of Kenny 's still alive :-D
i'd have to say 6\10
the ep wasn't bad, it had a good plot, very good cliffhanger, good interactions with bonnie mike and rebecca
BUT, the lack of choices that matter was a great promlem for me since telltale is all about choices. i felt like they killed the characters too fast with no good reason, see nick for example, he was a well built character with a background story and was killed off screen. the choice about saving sarah was bulshit since she dies anyways, in general i could not get emotional in this ep. was it sad few times? yeah, but the feels werent realy there
was expectin more from TT cause of the long waiting
Well that's your opinion and it's perfectly valid. Still, you have to understand that not everyone is going to lower his score to 1/10 for that kind of "flaws". People dying offscreen, Sarita/Sarah dying no matter how much you try to help, Kenny losing it and blaming it all on Clem, Luke being less and less heroic and more self-centered... that kind of things might piss you off, but they are perfectly realistic given the circunstances. I didn't like Kenny's reaction myself, I felt it was unfair, but him being a jerk didn't make me hate the game, not even a bit.
About the ilusion of choice you mentioned, it's the same as in season one. You couldn't save Larry no matter what you did. Same with Hershel's son, and in the end even Carley/Doug died pretty much the same way. You could extend Ben's lifetime, but as with Sarah and Nick he was bitting the dust sooner or later. This is just how TT games are.
I don't understand these people giving it a 7~8/10 and then pointing out the problems with the episode, of which there were many and made me… more feel like the writing was forced just so we could go on with the story: this episode basically nullifies your previous choices (saving nick, teaching sarah how to use a gun, cutting off sarita's hand, etc) and remains the same no matter what you choose even in the episode itself.

The deaths were so tasteless. The choices you make are meaningless in this episode. It felt like a cop-out so the writers could get rid of the determinant characters. Episode was good, but not great.
6.5/10

Some people can never be satisfied? I was perfectly satisfied with episode 2, and the only problem I had with 3 was Nick's weird dialogue and everyone acting like he wasn't really there. 4 just... felt... off.

As an episode on it's own, it was really good. I enjoyed playing through it (and cursed when it ended a bit too early for my liking).
However, if I put my expectations into the mix, it fell short of being 'amazing'. Like, I guess with games like these the number of possible paths the writers could take are endless, so it's not really their fault that some characters didn't get the coverage I wanted etc.
I had hoped Sarah wouldn't die (annoying as f*k but that's one of the reasons I wanted her around- gives her room to grow!) and Nick's death was disappointing, but I guess it's just one of those things.
I also wanted some 400 days characters to have 'larger' roles. It's great Bonnie is now a main character, but others like Wyatt, Vince, Shel (and her prick of a sister) and hell, even Eddie (who I REALLY WANT TO SEE) would also have been appreciated.
Still, despite all my ranting, the episode was awesome, and I'd give it something like 7-8/10?
But one thing I hated was how I had to axe Sarita in the head if I chopped off her arm. I mean, dude, if I don't want to bash her head in, I hope I don't have to do it! And if that meant Kenny had to die, then so be it. Countless other characters have died from their own stupidity and such, and I expect the same treatment for Kenny. I get why I had to do it, though, as he's basically at the centre of the story with Clementine, but it was something that really, really pissed me off. I'm glad he's alive, but ugh. I guess you can justify it by saying Clem would have saved Kenny no matter what etc.

So you want to give COD 7 or 8 out of ten... LOL

i love molly and i was sad when she left. this time i love jane and i wish that TT would let her stay unlike molly. But nope.

9.5/10. Great moments, great deaths and that quote about Lee...Finaly Luke made mistake. I can imagine how girls are crying. lol
I give it a 9.62.3
Nine. Point taken for lazy writing with Nick.
9.5/10 I loved the episode, but Nick and Sarah's deaths were just unexpected, Sarah had more potential to discover, and Nick's was just dumb.
Ehh... 8-8.5/10 I don't know, I suck with numbered scores.
Christa?
5/10
6.5/10

"you fucking with me, hillarious"
"Jesus are you f@#~ing kidding me"
6.5 - I liked the Jane interactions and the QTE sequences were good but it feels like the balls been dropped massively.
rebecca* my bad
9/10 felt like season 1 again.
Why you not agree ? With me
This.
Some people can never be satisfied? I was perfectly satisfied with episode 2, and the only problem I had with 3 was Nick's weird dialogue and everyone acting like he wasn't really there. 4 just... felt... off.

8.5/10 Pretty good episode as a whole. The ending was perfect tho.
10/10 - One of my favorite episodes of the WHOLE series! so far...
I think 7 or 8? It's actually picking back up. Had some actions to complain about in the story but I think it's heading in the right direction.
~7/10 haha
8/10. It was good. I accepted Sarah's death but I wish more stuff could have been done with Nick.
