Yeah, in the Let's Play community the best way to get noticed is to collaborate with other YouTubers because you're essentially doubling your viewership if you're playing with someone that has the same amount of Subscribers or views as you. It also makes it feel more like a community than a business to me as well, I also didn't know that about PBG, I've never watched any of his stuff but he seems like a good guy .
When it comes to TWD Let's Plays, I only skip ahead to catch reactions. Otherwise, I don't really bother. PBG had the best idea of Diablo 2 … moreHardcore, and that branched into Minecraft Survival Hardcore and Polaris hosting a two-team series with Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. It's nice to see youtubers play together as guests instead of hosting their own footage, as the conversations and overall gameplay is much more genuine.
I've heard that reasoning but it still doesn't get me interested... and the times I've attempted to watch, I find the personalities of the Let's Players cringeworthy and annoying. For instance both PewDiePie and Crendor annoy the ever living shit out of me.
I have a limited amount of time for recreation. If I have free time to sit and watch something, it's going to be a movie or TV show. Something with substance. I just don't care to watch the reactions/opinions of others playing a game.
I much prefer this format (forums) or chatting with friends to get that particular fix.
Nothing wrong with Old school! Many people would say that it's the best type of school. I understand your worries about Let's Plays. Most pe… moreople don't watch Let's Plays for the game but for the person playing the game. The jokes they make, the discussion they have and the rage that they feel are either entertaining to the viewers or they can sympathise having played that part of the game and want to see how the content creator handles the situation that may have caused them big problems years/months/days ago.
Aw man that sucks . I can only assume that one of them is Pewdiepie since he seems to get quite a bit of hate to say the least. Nothing wrong with liking him, I'm personally subscribed to him and follow him on the Tweeterbird .
I really enjoy Let's Plays. The only Let's Play YouTuber I'm subscribed to is TheRadBrad. I've been subscribed to him since his Arkham City Let's Play. If it weren't for his videos, I most likely wouldn't have picked up Tomb Raider, BioShock Infinite, L.A. Noire, and TellTale's latest three games. I prefer watching him over others because I feel he always keeps it real. Where others come off as trying too hard to be funny, it just seems like it comes naturally to him. Also, I love his constant movie references and trademark phrases! It'd be better if he didn't cuss so much, but that's just how he is and what many find amusing about him. All the same, his language isn't as vulgar as when he started.
I suppose you just need to find someone that does interest you and doesn't seem as cringy. Either that or Let's Plays just aren't your thing, that's probably true that it doesn't have as much substance as TV or a Movie and you have every right to choose that over YouTube videos of people playing games.
Forums are a good way of talking to people. Just for an example this entire thread is a massive conversation and I'm loving it .

I will do that! I try to avoid watching other people's Let's Plays while making my own on the game because I don't want to steal jokes/know what's coming sorta thing but I've finished the episode so I can check it out too
Do you mean when all the episodes have been released? I do agree with you on the part, but I think Telltale have been really sneaky and smart on this part with they're games. They can release them 1 at a time and that allows them to be in the limelight for near enough between a year or half a year because the hype surges when an episode is released, then the hype dies down but still has a little bit going on until the next episode is released and then it just repeats.
I have seen some of his stuff. I do to make my videos like that, I want to be myself playing games and hopefully entertain people and have them laugh or enjoy the video. I don't really want to act like something I'm not to gain views or subscribers. I might act a bit different to amplify a joke but I don't want it to become the biggest part of what my videos are.

That's great! The way I see it, the whole point is to entertain and to show the game. I watch his videos even when I'm well beyond him in a game because I find him entertaining. He's himself, and that's what keeps me subscribed to him. I never get the impression he's acting in a way he wouldn't when he's simply out and about. If that's how you want to go about it, then I'd say you're on the right track.

I don't mind Lets Plays as much. Just as long as the person playing isn't a complete fucking moron, and isn't an annoying sack of turd. The only Lets Players I watch are Markiplier(and his friends) and Rooster Teeth. I generally like to watch them play the things I've played though, or if its a short funny flash/horror game of some sort.
I love to watch LPs since I enjoy seeing other people's reactions and what choices they make. This is why I only ever watch "blind" LPs which means the guy/girl is playing the game for the first time. That's where all the genuine reactions, fails and other enjoyable stuff happens.
I don't want spoilers, so I only watch LPs after I myself have finished the game or it's a game I know I'll never play. Sometimes I might check some parts of an LP when I'm considering buying a game but have mixed feelings about it. That's because you can see the real deal in LPs. Not what the publishers *want * you to see in their carefully crafted gameplay trailers and such. It's because of an LP I bought Walking Dead: Season One. When I heard about this "interactive movie", I was like "Meh..." but after I checked like the first 15 minutes about how it really worked and heard the excitement of the guy who was playing it, I wanted the game for myself.
I mean for example pc/ps3 version come out a day earlier and then xbox and the ios I meant if they wait until ios version is released than that would make it a lot easier to control the urge to watch and spoil yourself

I discovered Telltale and TWD from a let's play and I enjoy watching them. The only thing I don't like are the ones where the player has a chat screen up and talking to all the viewers while playing. Reason is because so many who do that miss a lot of important dialogue or choices. They also risk spoilers. I would highly suggest to any of them, just turn off chat while they play.. Commentate, talk about what they are choosing, react how they want, just stop being distracted by chat.. That ruins it for me as a viewer.

sometimes the interactive banter is fun, some of the comments are funny, but when the player misses details or is hit with a spoiler, then they don't react as they would. I do realize some of them make maoney and want to thank their subscribers, I get that, but it cost's them a true expirence of the game.

I feel like me and you share the same feelings on how we view Let's Plays. There are quite a couple of games that I would never have played if not for watching a Let's Play of it on YouTube (Fatal Frame is one that comes to mind for me) and I agree with the spoilers part. To me it's more depending on what game it is, if it's a very story based game then I may not care as much, but for games such as TWD or TWAU then I tend to avoid them because I know I'll be playing them and don't want to be spoiled.

Once I saw LP, I actually wanted to buy the episode, maybe that's the point.
Surprise?(ô‿ô)
My favorite series from them is "Super Best Friends Play Beyond Two Souls"
JUMP!!!

Zack giggles at everything. Even when he chopped off Sarita's arm. I hate that guy.
Check out Uberhaxornova's TWD series.... It's a must watch
It does seem to be that way
Somebody here heard of Markiplier? Good old Mark. Shame he didn't play "The Walking Dead", his Let's Play of "The Last of Us" was great.
Lol you guessed right :P
I like them but I wish they would only be released when all versions of the games are out.

True, but I watch it when I want to watch a less serious play through. I like his commentary but I do think he laughs at very random things.

I love Markiplier's voice. It's amazing to listen to, I think he could read my Twilight and I'd probably like it.

Anyone watch Kpopp's series? she is so funny! Check her out its worth it XD
I love Mark. He really needs to play TWD one of these days.
I watched Nalif play it an I think that was when I wanted to buy the episodes.

As long as he speaks to me I'll probably enjoy it.
As long as he speaks I'm sure I'd like it.

I love watching lets plays, mainly from UberHaxorNova, Yogscast Hannah, Pewdiepie and GirlFromAus

Lets plays
Made for idiots, by idiots
No need to be so rude.
Watch what you say because it can offend people.
Yes that is true, i still prefer Farfromsubtles style of playing (talking to chat) than people who just upload it normally
Heck yeah!
His voice is so majestic.
