Jane or Bonnie?

  • Bonnie. She's more friendly, trustworthy, and is just as tough as Jane. Jane doesn't really have qualities of a guardian when she likes being a loner, shooting people in crotches, robbing people, and abandoning associates when they become a problem. I think Jane wouldn't want to be a guardian anyways.

I think that Bonnie is better suited as Clementine's adult female guardian, because she seems to be the ideal model that Clem can look up to. She is a caring and sympathetic person, who of which generally tries to see the best in people. Her faith in people becomes a fault at times, particularly with Carver, but the mere trait of it resembles Clementine's characteristics. She is still repentant when she becomes aware of her mistakes, such as the mistake of her faith in Carver, to the point of justifying him murdering Walter and Alvin (determinant) at the Moonstar Lodge and tries to suggest his murdering Reggie was an accident. She shows a great amount of regret for those she has hurt. She is devastated when she accidentally kills Dee and repeatedly tries to apologize to Clementine for lying to her at the ski lodge and being the cause of people's deaths. She also shows a great amount of concern for those in pain. She tends to Clementine if she is slapped by Carver or hit by Troy with the butt of his assault rifle, and looks after Rebecca during her pregnancy.

Jane isn't the best suited adult female guardian, but she isn't the worst one either. She at first can easily be described as an aloof and unsocial woman, who of which prefers to be reserved to herself. Beneath the rugged exterior, there's a somewhat humbler and softer persona. She is a cunning, resourceful, and opportunistic person, who has managed to adapt indubitably well to the harsh and unforgiving lifestyle of a survivor, having developed a rather cynical and logical point of view on life. She has learned undoubtedly well how to avoid and take down walkers effectively. She is brutally honest about her opinions of people and situations, which sometimes gets her into feuds with others. She believes that the best chance to survive is to be alone, because groups of survivors tend to eventually crack down and fall apart, leading to people getting killed, which she apparently has witnessed more than once before. She is quick to notice group members who are a liability to herself and others, such as Rebecca's pregnancy and Sarah's timid attitude. She believes that if people don't want to be saved, then they should be left behind, rather than drag everyone else down with them, and because of this, people tend to view her as a cold hearted person, who only cares about herself. She and her morals appear to be self-conflicted, as noted when she encourages Clementine to steal the medicine from Arvo, so that it may be of a benefit to the group, only to show regret immediately afterwards for robbing and threatening a kid like she is some lowly bandit (if Clementine chooses to rob the medicine), which is evidence of morals still existing within the fabric of her being.

tl;dr: There are pros and cons to both Bonnie and Jane, but at the end of the day, based on the mind state of them, I think that Bonnie is the prime caretaker for Clementine. Bonnie exemplifies what an adult female guardian should be, in comparison to Jane, because of her maternal traits when it comes to her decision making with Clementine and on situations.
