Why do people want to keep playing as a child?

  • Me too,cause I am just 1 year older then Clem :D

I like to play as a child cause I'm pretty much a child myself, being only 4 years older than Clem. It just adds an immersive factor for me.

  • I don't agree with him either, I found Nate to be fine and agreed with his choice to shoot the old people.

When Russel &Nate are about to enter the restaurant Russel says something like, what are we going to do, It happens real quickly but Nate's face gets Gorked and he says "That Guy shot at us, you can see the rage in his face. Maybe he has a thing about people shooting at him, which i don't really blame him. To be honest the old lady was going to die no matter what, and the old man was a danger in my mind.

Well, it was an interesting perspective difference between S1 and S2. Personally I hope they will do a time leap and we'll be playing as a teenage Clem. Hormones raging and all that... that seems like the logical way to go. In a potential S4 we'd get to play as some old hermit to get the full spectrum... maybe a still alive, but just barely 90 year old Kenny with prostate problems.

Edit: or play as the newborn baby.... give it an UZI and wiggle it around by the umbilical cord while it fires -> best way to clear a horde.

  • Probably because Clem is about the age of half the people on these forums

  • See that is where opinions change, I hated that part.

  • After more than 20 years of playing such games the are just boring. I startet playing with wolfenstein, doom, quake and blood ( all the 1st one) and TT TWD is the first game after these years, which is really flashing me. I enjoy every second by playing Clem.

I don't really care how "unique" or "interesting" playing as a child in the middle of an apocalypse is, bottom line, it makes no sense at all that so many grown adults can't do the simplest tasks and need an 11 year old girl to do it for them. Clem's a badass and all, but realistically, can you honestly see Luke taking a child with him as backup across that bridge? Do you really think Alvin would send a child unattended into a cabin that could be crawling with walkers? And why the hell was Clem the only one who knew how to insert a key and press a button? Bonnie and Mike don't notice a jacket sitting in plain sight or don't think that there may be something useful behind that ticket booth without Clem's input? I started playing this game because the situations Lee encountered in season 1 were believable and realistic. The only things that are believable for Clem to be relied on for was stealing the walkie talkie, and delivering it because she's small and quick. Other than that, I'm cringing at how retarded the adults have to be in order for Clem to have any gameplay at all. No amount of good writing can make it plausible that a child is the smartest and most capable person in the eyes of adults. For fucks sake TellTale, don't make the same mistake in season 3.

  • She kicked down that door!

And it's not silly, I kick down doors? why about that, out of all things lol?

  • If I'm honest I'd rather be playing as a grown woman. Hopefully in Season 3 Clem is older.

  • Because not everyone who plays this game is a 20 something year old male.

I'm a 13 year old girl who is obsessed with this game, and I can relate to Clementine far more than Lee. (Sorry Lee. But I still love you!) Some of us can. Some 20 something year old males LIKE to play as a little girl, because that's not something they do in most games.
How many games can you name where you play as a female under the age of 15 (other than TWDG)?

For the record, I'm a 20 year old girl. The game isn't about making the character the most relatable to all audiences, what TWD as a franchise is about is creating a realistic interpretation of what could happen if an apocalypse ever occurred. Clem being the only one with common sense isn't realistic or believable.

  • Well you have a point, obviously, but as I see it, it's not age what matters most. Clem was pretty much raised into the post-apocalipsis era, so she can't be compared to Ben or any other character who lived a 95% of their time in peace.

Think about kids nowadays, they know how to use youtube and smartphones way before they learn to properly writte. When I was about the same age as Clem, I had already figured out how to use a computer and install games and just a bit after that I learned how to surf the web and mess with the hardware and drivers. My parents have been trying to learn that sh#t over two and half decades and they still wouldn't beat me when I was 13. This probably happened to most of you too, Its only natural as very young people adapts way faster to new things.

That doesn't mean the writting was perfect, and i cringed from time to time too, but overall i didn't feel dissapointed with Clem characterization.

  • This is a much better way to say what I said. They made the entire group stupid and weaker just so we can be Clem. I'd rather have a group that doesn't walk around ignoring the obvious as if it weren't an apocalypse.

  • I want to keep playing as Clem because, even though I loved Lee, I'm tired of playing an adult.

Despite a lot of situations being given to Clem to handle (because otherwise we'd get nothing to do), playing a kid is something that isn't done much in Western Made games.

  • I would really appreciate if we could be some new character and we could meet Clementine during the season.

A child being particularly skilled at something more so an adult, or being able to adapt quickly doesn't mean they should be responsible for adult matters. No matter how extraordinary a child is they are still children and are not done developing. It is the parents' (or in Clem's case, the adults in the group) job to protect the children from danger. This would be even more important in an apocalypse, and for it to be ignored so blatantly makes it extremely difficult to immerse yourself in the game, and believe anything that is happening is possible.

Well you have a point, obviously, but as I see it, it's not age what matters most. Clem was pretty much raised into the post-apocalipsis era

  • Because playing as a adult Video Game character is too mainstream.

  • If we have a different protagonist for Season 3 then you've got nothing to worry about. But if we still play as Clementine then I'm hoping she'll be like 14 so she can be like Ellie from The Last of Us and have a lot more swearing options :D

  • I completely see where you're coming from and I respect your opinion. But I personally want to keep playing as Clementine because it obvious she isn't just any normal "Child" She's Clementine. We've seen her story from the beginning. First a scared little girl hiding in her tree house, We played as Lee someone who protected her, guided her through the pain in which she felt and he made her strong enough to survive on her own in this world. We've been there to see the majority of what she's been through and seen her grow into an extremely strong character. Playing as Clementine I feel like I can choose similar choices that Lee did(In my playthrough) and have it feel right. I'm way too attached to her as a character to give up playing as her. I want to finish Clementine's story as Clementine.

I don't want to play as a completely new character with a fresh start. When her story isn't finished. That's just my opinion.

  • Why don't you take your own advice considering you can't even handle someone having a differing opinion than your own.

  • Than... They're just friends... (The "Dating" Status requires; Kissing/Making Out/Love and last but not least... Sex.) Something I noticed when I was almost 13 Is that a person prespective's, libido and way of thinking changes a lot from 12 to 13. Plus if I ever met clem we would have a father-daughter or bro relationship.

  • I will say that i'm of the Chuck mindset. I don't look at Clementine and see a child. In a game like this, I look at her and just see a person. It was a different situation with someone like Sarah simply because she was naive and oblivious to so much, while Clem obviously isn't with all the messed up things she's seen. Not since the beginning of the first episode this season have I thought of her as a child..not until I come here and see people mentioning it. In the moment of playing it's not in my mind at all. Clementine has proven herself to be more than useful on more than one occasion. That does sometimes come at the expense of the "adults" looking dumb, but honestly it doesn't bother me that much. For me, now that Lee is gone and we've been playing as Clementine, I honestly couldn't picture playing a mother/father figure to her again or having her be secondary. If Clementine is going to be involved with a third season, I want to play as her without question.

  • I'm a 13 year old boy;

In the first season I actually related to lee and I looked at clementine as If I was protecting my sister, so I could really relate, I didn't even care what happened to lee, since clementine made out ok I was calm, on the second season I began to just don't caring too much since I was clementine I know she wouldn't die or get hurt so it lost some of the emotion, playing as an new character would even be more boring without clementine (like starwars without Darth Vader), TellTale mistake was skipping almost 2 years, I wanted to see every bit of clem's life, but when I started playing as this clementine it's just like our emotional bound has been broked...

  • Thank you kindly :)

Most people who are on the other side(Opposite opinion to ours) seem to just want to play as an adult because they are physically threatening and capable of beating people up. And because they feel like an adult has more say than a child.(apologies if I'm generalizing when I say that) Yet Clementine has as much say as any leader and she's twelve years old. Anyone who say's she lacks potential. Please stop and think for a second when you say that. She's twelve, possibly the most reliable member of the group, trust worthy, intelligent, can take care of herself, knows how to deal with loss and much much more. Also... she's still learning. Example the aim for the knee trick from the last episode. Her power is growing :).

  • Most of them really do want her as a protagonist, others succumb to peer pressure.
