How could she tell?
Remember how in episode 3, alvin said he thinks the baby will be a girl? And if you tell Rebecca he said that, she says "I have a feeling this one's gonna be a boy." I'm curious to know how she figured that out, and was able to tell. Considering there were no hospitals to see for sure with the apocalypse going on.

I've known many pregnant women who've correctly guessed their babies genders without any doctor giving them a hint. I would say it's some sort of subconscious connection, but there's a 50/50 chance I suppose.
I sure as hell couldn't explain it. I've never been pregnant. :S
It's just a feelin'.
Just a feelin'
50/50 chance.
She's a mom they just know.
It's like a sixth sense.
Mother's intuition. :P She just senses it. Of course there was a 50/50 chance on her being right.
Also, before in S02E02, she said "SHE'S going to be a runner!" ("She" being the baby)
Yeah, that confused me a bit what with her referring to the baby as a girl before. I guess the "sense" hadn't kicked in or something.
You know, a part of me can't help but wonder if it was intended to be a girl at first given all the mentioning of that possibility, one of which being Alvin's emotional sendoff, but then made into a boy for Kenny's benefit so he could kind of relive Duck's birth because it's all about Kenny, naturally. Honestly wouldn't surprise me.
She got lucky, real lucky.
^that last part of your post killed me, lmfao.
It'd be kind of interesting to see Kenny go bat shit and get all possessive over the baby in EP5, I mean after he practically snatched him from Clem and then proceeded to basically snort the baby near the end of EP4, I can see it being plausible direction for them to go.
It's a coin flip. I she were wrong, it doesn't also mean Alvin was clairvoyant or has special detecting abilities.
